Chapter 1110: It’s my truth, your brother’s truth, and... Hera’s truth.

"So, thank you for hating me and loving me twice as much. And I’m sorry for everything."

Axel slowly balled his hands into a tight fist, clenching his teeth as hard as he could. He squashed down the tension in his throat, displeased at everything she said.

"That sounds like a parting message," he muttered. "Sis, will you really leave my brother?"

"Yes." Heaven nodded. "I would’ve done it a long time ago. Actually, I realized the marriage shouldn’t have happened in the first place. If only it didn’t, we... I think there was a good chance your brother and I could’ve been good friends."

"No," Axel breathed out, marching to her, and stopping a step from her. "You don’t mean that."

"I do."

"Sis." He grabbed her shoulders, looking at her straight in the eye. "Tell me. Do you still hate me because of my actions back then?"

His eyes dilated a little, anticipating her answer with bated breaths. "If you still hate me for it, then what can I do to fix it? Tell me. I’ll do whatever it is to get your forgiveness. Just don’t... don’t take it on my brother."

"Axel."

"If that’s not it, then my brother probably did something for you to make that decision," he added before she could say anything in return. "Tell me. Did he say something mean? Or was he a jerk to you? I’ll promise to talk to him. I’m sure he didn’t mean it and he’ll soon come back to his senses."

"Axel."

"How about Basti and Miri?!" he continued, squeezing her shoulder when her expression didn’t change. "Miri is still young to say anything about it, but Basti — sis, this will break his heart. I’m hurt, but he will be in much more pain."

Axel was about to say more, but he ended up pressing his lips together. His vision slowly grew blurry as tears coated his eyes. Soon, he started sniffing as a lump blocked his throat.

"Is there any way that can change your mind?" His voice cracked, barely relaying his message. "Is there?"

Heaven studied his face apologetically. Never in her wildest imagination had she ever considered Axel acting like this in front of her. After all, the Axel she knew was an arrogant and heartless bully. Who would have thought this young man actually had a big and innocent heart? This was probably one of the surprises she had when she retrieved the memories Hera left in this body.

"Your brother and I..." she paused as she mustered the courage to explain the situation to him. There was a little hesitation in her heart, but she eventually came to terms with it. "... we never loved each other."

"What?"

"The woman he called his wife and the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with isn’t me, Axel," she clarified, getting more confident, as she knew Axel deserved the truth.

Heaven owed this guy one way or another. Hence, if Dominic wouldn’t tell him, she had the right to do so. After all, this was also her life and story. And if she was allowed to tell one person about the truth, that would be this man. Because Axel deserved it and Hera did too. Hera also deserved to be loved by him as Hera, and not Heaven.

I already robbed myself of many things,’ she told herself. ’I can’t rob Hera or Axel just like how I did to myself.’

This was the right thing to do.

"Sis, what are you saying?" Axel breathed out. "My brother might be a jerk sometimes, but he will never cheat on you. I’m not saying this because he is my brother, but I know he would never do that to you."

Heaven shook her head. "I’m not saying he was cheating."

"Then, what?"

"I am Heaven Liu," she declared, making him furrow his brows in confusion. "But I am not that woman you called sister; not the woman your brother calls the love of his life, and not the person Basti calls mommy."

"Sis, what none sense... are you talking about?"

"Someone else was living in this body for the past year."

Axel was rendered speechless, staring at Heaven with utter dismay and confusion. He slowly released her shoulders, taking a step back from her.

"Sis," he called quietly. "If you’re going to make up a story, make it believable. I’m not stupid. I will believe you if you say something else, even if I know it’s a lie. Why do you have to —"

"I’m not lying, Axel." Heaven sighed, walking back to the bed and sitting on the edge. Looking up at him, she pursed her lips into a thin line and offered a meek smile. "I know it’s hard to believe, but that’s the truth."

"The truth?" Axel repeated with a tinge of sarcasm. "And I’m supposed to believe this ridiculous truth?"

Heaven went quiet, assessing his expression. What did she expect? That he would outright believe her? Axel genuinely loved Hera, but Dominic was her husband. Dominic knew his wife from inside and out. Hence, it was easier to make him believe this ridiculous story.

Moreover, Axel’s reaction was probably the most normal reaction one could expect.

"Riding a fast-moving vehicle is enough to give me panic attacks," she said. "I hate it and fear it from the bottom of my heart. Why would you think I would suddenly enjoy it? And actually, drive at that insane speed?"

His brows rose, and deep lines immediately resurfaced on his forehead.

"I’ve never been into any martial arts or self-defense class. And I’m also a coward, who gets scared of you. How do you think it’s possible for me to join a drag race and fight some rouges all by myself?" she continued, eyes fixed on him. "Divorce is the only one I want with your brother, but why did I refuse it when the chance finally arrived? Not to mention, I don’t even know any phone tricks, let alone hack a government cyber system. Yet, I could do it as if I’ve been doing it my whole life."

Heaven lowered her shoulders and sighed. "I know it’s a ridiculous story; it’s unbelievable. It’s up to you whether you believe it or not, but that’s the truth. It’s my truth, your brother’s truth, and... Hera’s truth."

"Hera?"

"I’m sure you know her," Heaven offered a meek smile as she recalled something in Hera’s memory. "After all, you watched her work on the Secret Floor. That woman’s name surely came up once in a while throughout those all-nighters."

"Just reconsider it," she added, nodding at him encouragingly. "If only you do, things would make sense. I am not your sister because if I was, you wouldn’t even tear up over something like this."

Her eyes softened as she thought of Hera. "There’s no way she’d make you this unhappy."
