Chapter 1079: Tell her or I would
Days had passed by in a blur. Many created memories. Some lived the best they could, while others tried their best to make it in life. But for others like the Reapers and those they had left behind, time stayed still.
The only changes they got were the dates in their calendars, days turned nights, and nights turned to another day. But everything was the same. They were stuck in the darkness, walking in a long tunnel in hopes they could see the light at the end if they only persevered in this darkness.
"You should tell her." Moose stood beside the bed, eyes on Ram, who was lying in it. "You better tell her now before she finds out about it herself."
Ram slowly looked up at the man who saved his life. His lips parted but then closed them again.
"One thing I realized as I grow older is that people tend to be stubborn," Moose remarked, seeing that Ram doesn’t have plans to tell Hera about his health condition. "Damn. It makes me not want to grow old."
"In a few months, my term will end," Ram spoke after a prolonged silence. "Until then, I want to help her."
"Does she even need your help?"
"I’m not the one who betrayed her," Ram argued. "While you were playing with the Zhu’s, I was doing my best to protect her."
Moose let out a scoff, rocking his head. "Sure. If that’s what you want to believe and you see nothing wrong with it, then sure." He tapped the chart in his hand, smacking his lips.
"Anyway, everything about you is good. I’ll take out the drip tomorrow morning. You can do whatever the hell you want until then," said Moose before turning his back on him.
"Why?" Ram spoke just when Moose reached the door. "Why does Dominic Zhu bother her?"
Moose raised his brows and glanced over his shoulder. "I don’t know."
"You know something," Ram stressed. "You know something that I don’t. One second, you won’t leave Heaven Liu’s side. And now, all of you are here. I wouldn’t be surprised if you came here because she called for you, but you came back before she could even send a word."
Ram took a deep breath, touching his shoulder to soothe the slight discomfort. "Not just that, but Gray, Princess, and even Bear stayed with the Zhu’s. If there is anyone in here who would back up Hera, that would be the three of them. So, tell me. What were you hiding?"
"You know, the kid in that house is really interesting." Moose turned around to face him squarely. "I’ve never met a genius in my entire life, but that kid is. Maybe Princess and Gray grew fond of him? I mean, why would they risk going back in here when Hera already gave a word to us before Dragon faked her death?"
Moose shoved a hand in his pocket and shrugged nonchalantly. "At this point, I don’t care who stays or leaves. I don’t even care who dies in a few months or tomorrow. All I want is to get my hands on Hera’s vault. I want to give you answers that will make you happy, but sadly, that’s all I know. Anyway, you better rest unless you want to delay your discharge."
With that being said, Moose turned his back on him and opened the door. Just when he stepped out, he looked back again.
"By the way, I’m serious about what I said earlier," Moose clarified. "Tell her because if you don’t, I will."
And then Moose shut the door.
Ram, who was left all alone in the same room he had been staying in for the past week, sighed deeply. He didn’t believe a word Moose spewed regarding their secret. Moose knew, but if he wasn’t saying anything, that meant he couldn’t.
[Tell her because if you don’t, I would.]
Another deep exhale escaped Ram, relaxing his body on the bed. He looked up at the ceiling, sighing once more.
"If I told her, I’m sure she’ll just send me away."

Meanwhile...
"How’s he?" Tiger inquired as soon as Moose closed the door, standing beside the door where Ram wouldn’t see him from the inside.
Moose smiled. "As stubborn as always."
"I guess that means that’s good news." Tiger nodded, peeling his back from the wall. He then followed Moose.
"He’s asking about the Zhu’s," Moose said leisurely, heading to his other stubborn patients. "Actually, I thought he’d figure it out himself. I mean, Alexander Cafre, somehow put two and two together. Ram’s more intelligent than that buffoon."
"He’d find out one way or another," Tiger commented. "If he didn’t, Hera will surely tell him. Once she’s not busy."
"Is she still stuck with Elliot?" Moose paused, looking back at Tiger.
"You mean, is Elliot still stuck with her??" Tiger rephrased. "The answer is yes. The poor man hadn’t slept for days. You should check on him. He might pass out."
"Him, passing out is much better than him being dead because he’s too righteous to do the unrighteous thing." Moose rolled his eyes and was about to resume his steps when he stopped. He slowly looked back at Tiger, squinting his eyes. "Why are you following me, by the way? You’re not going to slit my throat when we reach that corner, will you? We both know no one uses that way that much."
"Slitting your throat isn’t as satisfying as making you watch me burn all your hard-earned money." Tiger wiggled his brows. "I’m here because I want to see your reaction."
"Reaction about what?"
Tiger shrugged.
"I’m not moving here until you tell me what’s going on."
"Go to your next patient," Tiger urged. "You’d know what I mean."
Moose kept his eyes narrowed, arching a brow. "What did Joker do?" he asked, knowing his next patient to check on would be Joker. After a second, Moose scoffed in irritation and shook his head mildly.
"Oh, hell fucking no." Moose twisted his feet, running away as he got an idea where Joker went.
