Chapter 1047: Busted

[Four days later: 8:00 PM]

An hour ago, the expected cargo ship came into view as it approached the port. Everyone who was anticipating its arrival stayed on standby, on high alert for any surprise attack. The Sun Organization, Dimitri’s men, readied themselves to receive the shipment with their weapons fully loaded. They occupied the entire port, securing it from any enemies.

"Stand by!" one man yelled, watching the ship docked while the crew prepared to unload the containers.

"The entrance of the fort is clear." The captain heard from his earpiece, followed by another report from who was guarding the other entrance of the fort. "All clear. No enemy in sight."

"Keep watching," said the man leading the operation. "Do not lower your guard."

"Yes!" the men talking through the earpiece answered in unison.

Their morale was high despite the news of the Reapers’ involvement in the massacre days ago. Dimitri sent more than half of his men to secure the shipments. With these numbers, even if all the Reapers combined with the Interpol’s forces, their chances of winning were slim.

"Make a move once the containers are confirmed," said the leader to everyone, which the captains of each unit told their soldiers. "Do not forget. Securing the containers was our top priority! If you see anyone suspicious, shoot him down."

Meanwhile, in the same area...

Men in black gear surrounded the port carefully. They had sightings of enemies guarding each entrance and exit of the port. Unlike the Sun’s usual operation, the men who were going to receive the containers were five times more than usual.

"We’re in position."

Elliot pressed his earpiece when someone spoke through it. Standing in an enclosed space with a few people, Elliot drew a deep breath. He glanced at the multiple monitors before him, catching real-time video clips of the situation around the danger zone.

"Stay on standby," he said, shifting his eyes to one of the monitors. It showed them a glimpse of the container the Sun Organization was expecting.

"Do not approach unless I said so," he added solemnly. "Sniper squad, hold your weapons. Tell me when you see Hera Cruel or any of the Reapers."

The sniper squad didn’t respond as they moved their scopes to find the people their boss was looking for. But alas, all they could see were the crews attaching huge harnesses around the containers before they unloaded.

"There are no Reapers on sight," one sniper squad member reported.

"Keep watching," Elliot replied solemnly. "They’re the Reapers — assassins for a reason."

"Yes."

Elliot rested his hands on his hips, keeping his eyes on the monitors before him. There were a few trained people to assist everyone they deployed in the field. He clicked his tongue after watching the monitors for a minute, taking his phone out to make a phone call.

"There’s still no sighting of any reapers," he said to the person on the other end of the line. "Got any luck?"

"I told you," Ram, who was the person talking on the other end of the line, spoke. "You might not see them tonight. The Reapers come and go like a night. They’re all trained like that."

Elliot frowned deeply at Ram’s response. It wasn’t like he didn’t believe Ram. After all, the Reaper’s target would die even before they knew it. And even if the Reapers make a bold move, no one else could say it honestly since none of the witnesses were found alive.

"But we can’t just move blindly," Elliot breathed out in frustration. "Are they in the containers? Or did they already depart the ship before it docks?"

Myriads of questions hovered over Elliot’s mind. Not that Hera was his target. Their target was members of the Sun Organization and catching them red-handed. However, if Hera was in the middle of chaos, things could go south in the blink of an eye.

She might or she might not interfere. But surely, she had business here. Making her an enemy right now wasn’t the most intelligent thing to do. Neither was allied with her. The bottom line was that Elliot needed her alive.

If there was anyone who knew how deep that iceberg was, that would be Hera.

Catching the Sun Organisation was just the beginning.

"They could’ve departed the ship before it docked," Ram guessed. "I see a boat approaching."

"A boat?" Elliot pressed his earpiece to instruct one of his men to check the approaching boat. "Are you sure?"

Ram didn’t answer immediately, holding his binoculars as he followed the approaching boat. "Uh... no."

"What do you mean by that?"

Ram arched a brow as he placed down the binoculars. He kept his eyes on the sea where he could see a boat quietly approaching.

"Nothing," he said to the phone. "It’s nothing."

"Ram..." Elliot ground his teeth, but before he could say anything, Ram spoke again.

"Just tell your men not to shoot the boat. Unless they want to kill slightly innocent folks."

Ram snapped his eyes on the ship from a distance. He ran his tongue across his inner cheek, raising the binoculars to his eyes once more. He looked at the crew around the containers and then at the mountains of containers in the port.

"Elliot, get out of there," he warned. "You’ve been busted."

Elliot’s eyes went wide, and he instinctively turned his head to the door. He and his crew had camped in one of the containers in the port discreetly. And yet, Ram, who was on the lookout, was telling him he was busted?

When did he make a mistake? Did they make a lot of noise? No, that was impossible. But how did the Sun Organization know they were in there?

"Elliot," Ram called once again. This time, his voice raised panic. "They’re approaching."

Elliot took a deep breath, looking at the monitors once more. However, none of his men were watching the container they were in. In other words, they couldn’t see whatever was going on outside the container.

"People," Elliot called under his breath, picking up his pistol on the table. "We have a dilemma. Prepare for a confrontation."

The people in the container who were with Elliot slowly looked at him with surprise. However, the second their eyes landed on their boss, they knew this was bad.
