Chapter 1017: Inauguration Day
Meanwhile...
"Damn..." Tiger breathed out, stopping several blocks from Dragon’s mansion. He lowered his head, staring at the thick smoke and fire ascending in the sky as police and firefighters locked the area for safety.
"She burned it down," Fig remarked, sitting in the backseat while staring at the mansion. "We’re late."
Tiger’s expression hardened, gripping the steering wheel tighter. "She woke up."
"Now, we’re back to square one." Fig sighed, snapping his eyes at the window when Moose stopped beside it with his motorbike. Rolling down the window, he asked, "What happened?"
"I asked around, but all I got is that it’s probably a gas leak." Moose pulled up his visor, staring at the people in the SUV. "But the men I planted here told me the fire started before midnight. That’s an hour ago."
"Do you think she’s still around the area?"
"I doubt," Tiger hissed, eyes glinting. "She probably left earlier than that."
Their expressions turned grim, thinking of where Hera could be. The problem was, they weren’t even sure if she truly woke up. They just assumed. They couldn’t completely disregard that this was Dragon’s doing as well.
As the silence reigned over them, Moose felt his phone to answer the call. He had ordered some of his men to call him if they found anything interesting. Hence, he didn’t hesitate to answer the call even before he saw who it was.
"It’s her," Moose remarked as he ended the call, turning his head to the people in the car. "I got a word from my source. Hera made contact with the Interpol. At the same time, Wolf was ambushed while they were transferring him to another station."
"We got to find her," Fig remarked, earning a nod from Moose. "I think we already know where she’s going."
No word was spoken after Fig’s statement, silently agreeing to one thing. There was only one place Hera would go after resolving their problems with Joker and Wolf.
Home.
"Call for a chopper." Tiger shifted the gear, preparing to leave the scene. "Dominic’s inauguration is probably proceeding as we speak."
With that being said, Moose pulled down his visor and drifted around, speeding away while Tiger followed him.

[Dominic’s Inauguration]
"From this day onward, I, Dominic Zhu..." Dominic had his hand raised to his side, taking his oath to do his due diligence to take the role entrusted to him by the public and those in power. His gaze carefully roamed the surroundings, filled with men in suits and uniforms.
There weren’t any civilians within the parameters as safety measures for the event. However, that didn’t mean Dominic felt at ease. Despite his eloquence in delivering his speech, he knew one or two of the people around him could kill him.
And he was right.
Not all the people around wanted to safeguard his and everyone’s safety. Others were simply waiting for the perfect time to strike. For instance, a person in a building around the area was holding a sniper rifle while watching the ceremony through its scope.
"Thank you," Dominic ended his oath with a heartfelt speech, earning the admiration of those watching on the screens in their own home or through the scenes outside the perimeter.
After the seemingly long oath, Dominic turned to face the politicians in higher positions with the President of the country. He offered a meek smile, taking their hands for a handshake. For everyone watching, it appeared to be solemn and monumental. Peaceful. Only a few could say it was eerily peaceful.
"Congratulations, Minister Zhu." The other minister expressed sincerely, gripping Dominic’s hand tighter. "I’ll be looking forward to working with you."
"It won’t be an easy path, but I hope you’ll get through it," said another politician as they congratulated and welcomed Dominic as part of the leaders of the nation one by one.
"Thank you," Dominic smiled, being extra patient in receiving all these congratulations, even from the parties that didn’t approve of his candidacy.
Now, everyone was just smiling, knowing they couldn’t do anything else to change the result unless Dominic finished his term. Or he messed up.
After the long exchange of congratulatory remarks, Dominic, together with several other politicians, stood on the stage, all smiling. They held each other, standing hand in hand, raising their hands to ensure the public about unity among them. But alas, just as the applause exploded in the grand central house, where the inauguration was occurring, one noise shattered the seemingly peaceful day.
BANG!
"Kyah!" One reporter given access within the parameter screamed her lungs out the moment she heard the gunfire. Within seconds, men in uniforms rushed to the stage while those who were close by rushed to the leaders of their country.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Find the shooter!"
"The minister was shot!"
Chaos ensued as more gunfire echoed in the air. Men in uniform covered for their leaders, dragging them off the stage. Two ministers were shot, but there was no time to stop or leave them behind. Dominic was also escorted out of the stage, looking back, only to see the chaos behind.
’Where is he?’he wondered, eyes shaking as he was trying to find the shooter. ’Did Bear catch him?’
BANG!
Another gunfire was heard, and it was the last time. However, with all the chaos and blood, the absence of a follow-up gunfire didn’t ease anyone.
"Minister, there’s something I have to tell you." Suddenly, Dominic froze as he heard the security assisting him away from the scene whisper in his ear. "Dimitri said he never intended to hurt you... if only you didn’t know too much."
Dominic’s eyes went wide as his breath hitched, looking at the man beside him. His pupils constricted, staring at the man wearing the same uniform as the rest, yet smirking so evilly at him.
"Come on, Mister Zhu," said the man in uniform, taking Dominic in the back and tossing him in the corner.
Dominic grunted as he felt his side, only to touch a knife plunged into it. Slowly, he gazed up, seeing that the man didn’t carry any sense of urgency. People were around them, but none of them seemed to notice what was happening in here because everyone was just too busy running to safety.
"He also said, so long, Dominic Zhu. As long as you’re dead, your children will be left unharmed."

Meanwhile,on the rooftop of a building, the man with a sniper rifle slowly caressed the trigger. But before he could pull it, he felt a round metallic material pressed on the back of his head.
"Drop the gun," Bear’s voice shook as his eyes burned. "Don’t fight. You’ll just get hurt."
"Tch." The man snickered as he slowly released the sniper rifle. However, he swiftly spun around, launching a kick to repel Bear. Much to his dismay, even when he hit Bear’s leg, the man didn’t budge. Instead, Bear raised his gigantic foot and stomped on his chest.
"Ugh!" The man let out a grunt as he landed pathetically on his back, only for Bear to shoot his leg over and over and over until he passed out.
"I told you," Bear breathed out. "Don’t fight or you’ll get hurt."
He glanced at the blood spreading on the man’s trousers. "In this case, you might lose your leg," Bear huffed as he pulled out his walkie-talkie.
"I got our shooter," he reported, only to hear bad news in return.
"They got the minister. He was stabbed and shot!"
