Chapter 1006: Dragon is no longer in control.

So close yet so far.

Primo couldn’t help but remember the phrase as soon as he felt that pistol pressed against the back of his head. He lowered his gaze, landing on Joker who was lying inside, unconscious. When he snapped his eyes up, he caught more people slinking out of the shadows with their guns with them.

’I guess Ram betrayed us...’he thought, only to see another body in the driver’s seat. ’...or maybe not. Well, we are fucked, but I might as well fight till the end.’

Primo swiftly grabbed the pistol tucked in his front, planning to fight until the end. Who knew? He might get lucky and survive this — just like how he survived an explosion that took away his arm. However, just as Primo moved, the person behind him kicked the back of his knee to force him down.

Without wasting a breath, the person pounced on his back. He stomped on Primo’s natural wrist, keeping it down and firing at the ground inches from Primo’s head.

"Don’t fight," said the man sitting on Primo’s back. "Someone wants you alive."

Primo scoffed, wiggling aggressively underneath the man. "You mean that fucking Dragon?" he hissed, struggling but to no avail. "Why? So he can kill me himself? He better keep me in handcuffs because if I punch him, he’ll get a concussion."

The man on top of Primo didn’t say anything anymore. He just restrained Primo, putting all his weight on the man’s back to keep him down.

"Damn it!" Primo cursed his gritted teeth. "Get off of me! If you don’t, I’ll make sure to drag that bastard with me to hell!"

"Alexander Cafre."

Just then, Primo froze as he heard Deborah’s voice from behind him.

"Stop struggling," said Deborah, casting the person sitting on Primo’s back a look. "It’s alright. He won’t shoot anyone now."

The man nodded in understanding, pushing himself away from Primo’s back. When Primo felt that the weight on his back was gone, he pushed himself up and looked back.

"Deborah." Primo furrowed his brows, assessing her from head to toe. "What are you..."

Primo trailed off, seeing that the people walking with her had their guns down. Even the one who attacked him just now was just standing a meter from him. Weren’t these Dragon’s people?

"What’s going on?" he asked, setting his attention back to her. "Don’t tell me I was right about you all along. You wanted to reconcile with that Dragon?"

"Over my dead body." Deborah sighed. "There’s no need for that. Dragon is no longer in control."

"What?"

Deborah pressed her lips, confused about how she could explain it in simple terms. Even the sudden switch in power astounded her.

"Where’s Hunter?"

"He’s inside." Deborah glanced at the broken door behind her. The gunfire had already halted. "Anyway, you don’t need to worry. I can’t say we succeeded, but everything is under control."

"The hell are you saying?" Primo gasped, even more confused now. However, his confusion was short-lived when the backdoor where they came from collapsed.

There, coming out from it, was Hunter. He was fine, dragging himself out. However, there were more people following him. From what it seemed without context, they almost looked like they were cornered. Not until the woman following them from behind caught Primo’s eyes.

"You..." Primo’s eyes dilated as his lips fell open, gaze fixed on Hera. "What are you..."

Hera stopped as the men in front of her rushed in Primo’s direction. Primo thought they would restrain him again, but they simply carried him to the side while the rest went to Joker.

"She woke up just in time," Deborah said when the men assisted Primo back to his feet. "Surprisingly, not the Hera you and I know."

"What?" Primo furrowed his brows, walking over to Deborah cautiously. He looked around one more time, seeing that none of Dragon’s men seemed to plan to shoot them. If anything, everyone just had their eyes on the car where Joker was.

"Is he alive?" asked Deborah quietly, earning a look from Primo.

"He’s unconscious, but I got a pulse when I got to him."

"Good."

"Huh?"

Deborah’s expression turned dark, eyes on the people who were carrying Joker out of the backseat. "If he’s dead, someone must pay. Not just Dragon, but all those who laid their hands on him and those who backed up Dragon."

Meaning, including Ram and some of the men present around them. It wasn’t like Deborah exactly knew if anyone in here laid a hand on Joker. However, if they did, even if they were forced to torture Joker, they wouldn’t escape Hera’s wrath.

"The hell?" Still confused, Primo glanced at the people. Just then, more people came from the backdoor of the dirty kitchen carrying a stretcher and bags of medical kits with them.

As they lay Joker on the ground while the hostage doctors checked on him, Primo couldn’t help but shift his eyes to Hera. At this point, Hunter joined them and stood on the side.

"That woman..." Primo trailed off, having the urge to rub his eyes. "... feels familiar."

Primo only met Hera once, or maybe a few times. All those times, she was unconscious. The only time he saw her conscious was the time they tried to rescue them. Even from afar, Primo was a little disappointed in the woman everyone called the Queen, or rather, the Hell herself.

Hera kneeling to Dragon while begging for Leo’s life wasn’t a pleasant first impression. Just like Deborah, who met Hera after her coma, shared the same sentiments. But now, looking at her, Primo couldn’t help but wonder where he felt the similar aura from.

"It was at the tip of my tongue," he murmured, eyes still on Hera’s figure. "Just where..."

"Where’s Dragon?" Hunter asked under his breath, snapping Primo from his thoughts. The latter looked at Hunter, only to see the man staring at Deborah.

"He’s sleeping."

"Dead?"

"No. Passed out." Deborah fluttered her eyelashes to the team, sighing in relief when they said Joker had a pulse and that they needed to take him to the infirmary for surgery. "She beat the hell out of him before coming down."

"She?" Primo and Hunter breathed out in unison, instinctively shifting their gaze back to Hera. This time, Hera stopped the people carrying Joker on the stretcher, looking at Joker and stroking his face with her fingertips.

"Fool," Hera whispered. "You better not die, now that I came to save you... just as you asked."

Hera retrieved her hand and straightened her back, scanning the faces around them. "Gather everyone in the lobby and bring me those who laid their hands on him."

"You three." She then pointed her fingers in Primo’s direction. "Follow me and fill me in."
