Chapter 596: 596 Fairy Tail: The Suspicions of Cana Alberona, Lucy vs Mirajane?! Lucifer’s Third Condition, Natsu Power Up... and Carrying Erza as a Princess.

"Hahaha, trouble, popular guy?!"

Being approached out of nowhere by Cana was unexpected for Allen since she was one of the Fairy Tail members who had shown the least interest in him. Maybe it was due to her blunt personality or apparent preference for very handsome men. Something Allen didn’t exactly demonstrate at the moment, (though it wasn’t like he cared about drawing attention, quite the opposite).

One detail that cannot be ignored is that most of the wizards in Fairy Tail were not fools, and after interacting with Allen for a few days, some had already noticed that he was using some kind of magic on his body all the time. However, the unwritten rules of Fairy Tail forced them to respect Allen’s privacy. Besides, he wouldn’t be the first—there’s an S-Class Mage everyone knows about but hardly anyone has seen because he uses his powerful magic to put everyone to sleep whenever he comes.

"A problem? I wouldn’t say that..." Allen smiled slightly at Cana while trying to figure out the girl’s intentions—or maybe she just wanted to tease him.

She was beautiful, tall, and slender, with a slightly tanned complexion. Her brown hair reached halfway down her back. Two strands framing her face fell to her shoulders, the left one starting from a high, prominent fringe. Her hair was subtly wavy, and she had large brown eyes slightly glazed by alcohol but unexpectedly analytical.

She had a very voluptuous figure, with large breasts and curvy hips. Her black Fairy Tail mark was located on the lower left of her abdomen, just above her hips. Cana wore a light blue bikini top with a camouflage pattern, Capri pants, and a loosely tied pink belt around her waist. She also wore sandals that emphasized her style and a pair of metallic bracelets adorning her biceps.

One might think Cana spent her time at the beach surfing rather than drinking a third of the guild’s alcohol reserves all day, but Allen laughed realizing this woman wasn’t simple. There was a trace of suspicion in her eyes, but also a deep interest. It was normal—while a mage like Lucy was simply a girl who joined the guild of her dreams, Allen was different, he was a very powerful mage no one knew anything about.

If it hadn’t been for the Guild Master himself recruiting him, Cana would have been even more cautious. The truth was that even with Makarov’s approval, Cana still held a trace of wariness toward Allen.

"Hm... so our Allen is used to dealing with women’s jealousy," Cana’s expression turned subtly cold for a moment; apparently, she didn’t like womanizers, which made Allen smile because, in his eyes, this would be his "Last Boss" if that was the case.

"I have some experience..." Allen replied, winking at her.

Cana squinted, then sighed, turning her attention to Lucy, who was arguing with Levy and scolding Laki.

"I don’t have the habit of meddling in other people’s relationships, I just ask one thing... don’t make anyone cry..."

Cana’s last words were serious and heavy, hiding a painful past Allen didn’t know about. Still, he felt compelled to say a few words.

"The only times I make a woman cry is when I risk myself against an enemy stronger than me... and I’m not proud of it."

"..." Cana opened her eyes at Allen’s words; maybe it was her imagination, but his tone lacked the usual confidence, calm, and mystery, making him sound genuinely sincere.

Cana relaxed her gaze and placed a hand on Allen’s shoulder. "Friend, I’m afraid to ask what kind of monster you fought..."

"Against the devil..."

"Haha, what does that mean? Are you kidding me? Do demons really exist?"

"Who knows, but I did not confront a demon but the real devil..."

"Hey, hey, are you serious?" Cana looked at Allen incredulously.

"Pfff," Allen laughed, his expression turning into a mocking grin.

"Hey, how dare you make fun of me?" Cana thought Allen had lied to him about confronting the devil and angrily punched Allen’s shoulder before laughing, "Also, what’s with that cup?! Are you drinking tea again? Drink some beer or something, Allen, actually, do it with me~" Cana said with a double entendre in her last phrase.

"Cana-san, don’t corrupt the new members," Laki scolded, interrupting the conversation.

"Tsk, but I’m not corrupting anyone, am I, Allen?~" Cana said, winking at him.

Allen chuckled as he closed his eyes, "Sorry, Cana, but for the sake of the world, I can’t drink alcohol."

"Huh?! What does that mean?" Cana made a sour face, thinking Allen was a party pooper just as they were starting to get along. Besides, she felt rejected—of course, they weren’t serious about her hint, but seeing him refuse so quickly stung a little.

Cana knew she lacked any feminine charm beyond her looks and seemed more like a vulgar pirate or a mountain bandit than a charming lady, but she believed she was attractive, and at least Allen should show some consideration for her hint.

Noticing the misunderstanding, Allen smiled slightly, "Don’t get me wrong—getting attention from a beautiful woman pleases me, but my body doesn’t handle alcohol well."

"Oh~ You think I’m beautiful?" Cana hugged herself as she received a self-esteem boost. "It’s true, I am very pretty, it’s just that the men in this place are dumb and don’t appreciate it~"

"..."

Laki, Reedus, and Macao, who heard this, rolled their eyes.

"And if I drink, I get very dangerous—just imagine someone like me losing control."

Cana, Laki, and several others shuddered as they remembered how Allen defeated Natsu and threw him toward Mount Hakobe effortlessly, beat Loke badly, and there were rumors he humiliated Gray.

"I see, in that case, nothing can be done!" Cana laughed then remained silent watching Allen, "Mm I prefer handsome men, but you seem more decent than anyone here, I wouldn’t mind giving you a chance~"

"Ara Ara~ Cana-san, I see you very active with something other than alcohol, are you that interested in Allen?" Mirajane appeared out of nowhere.

"Me?! don’t worry I was just kidding!" Cana felt chills despite Mirajane’s sweet tone.

"Oh, I see..." Lucy said, having somehow appeared between Cana and Allen.

...

Wade – Hahaha, looks like Allen won’t have an easy time building a harem in this world!

McDragon – It’s about time, I hope he ends up stabbed for being a womanizer! Haha

Hulk – Hulk no understand but hahaha!

...

Cana stood up laughing; she didn’t want to get involved in a war, so she decided to back off, but Lucy didn’t let her go so easily. Tired, Cana decided to fight back.

"Lucy-chan, you act like a jealous girlfriend, but are you really one?~"

"Huh? I’m just protecting my partner!" Lucy replied loudly, embarrassed.

Cana mocked her, "Oh, I see, you’re just friends. I’m sure someone’s happy to hear that, aren’t you, Mirajane-san?"

"Huh? Me?" Mirajane tilted her head slightly pretending not to understand, but hearing that Lucy wasn’t Allen’s girlfriend made her mood improve and brought back her usual self. "Ara Ara, Cana, don’t say silly things. Allen and I barely know each other; it’s still too soon for something like that~"

"Still?" Lucy felt like she was being stepped on and couldn’t help but feel regret. She should have said she was his girlfriend and then explained to Allen she only said that so no other girl would get close to him. "Indeed, we’re not dating, but that doesn’t change the fact that he saved my life, and I’ll protect him from anyone who wants to hurt him!"

Cana and Mirajane were surprised by Lucy’s statement. It was unexpected, but Lucy, who had already faced Titania, had developed more courage.

"Oh, it seems I underestimated you, Lucy," Cana said, reevaluating the blonde girl.

Mirajane smiled with the warmth of an older sister, "I’m sorry, Lucy, I think I haven’t been fair to you..."

Lucy sighed with relief, "Thank you, Cana-san, and don’t worry, Mira-san, I wouldn’t like to be on bad terms with you..."

Despite standing firm against Mira, Lucy felt a trace of bitterness deep down because Mirajane was one of the mages she had admired.

"Still, I won’t give up. I have to teach him a lesson, or I won’t feel at peace with myself," Mirajane said with a confident smile and a sharp look directed at Allen.

Lucy nodded and also declared confidently, "Same here, I won’t give in!"

Levy clicked her tongue, not understanding how Allen had managed to attract these two to fight over him. Maybe Mirajane was only doing it to protect her pride, and Lucy herself wasn’t sure if her feelings were love. But to Levy, although powerful, Allen shouldn’t be someone women fight over—especially not two as pretty as Mirajane and Lucy.

Levy looked at Allen silently, very curious about what in this man had attracted Lucy so much.

’Tsk, how dare you let me deal with your candidate brides?!’ Cana, for her part, glanced sideways at Allen. She felt frustrated; Allen must have heard the entire conversation but showed little reaction. ’What’s wrong with him? He seems lost in thought...’

...

(A few minutes earlier)

Allen took advantage of Cana handling the situation to check the result of his "mission," which was a way for him not to stay stuck without knowing what to do.

[Mission Inevitable Encounter: Go to Onibas Town and find the Queen (Completed) Reward: + Spatial Magic: Basic Requip, + Slight increase in Erza’s respect, + Slight increase in Erza’s affection, + Slight increase in Erza’s trust, + 200,000 J]

’It seems that the system is now more specific by adding things like trust and affection...’

[Hidden Mission: Earn Erza’s Respect – Titania is a rather simple woman, clumsily aggressive, and with a strong protective instinct toward her comrades due to a difficult past... However, when you are the one supporting everyone, who supports you? Prove to her that you don’t need her protection and that, if necessary, you can be the one there for her – Special Reward: Unique Bond...]

"I understand the secret mission part, but what does the special reward mean?"

[Host, don’t forget the devil is watching, and he’s not on your side, as you already experienced with Lucy and Natsu... even deadly situations for important characters are possible... the unique link will come in handy at some point, that’s all I can say.]

Allen scanned the guild with his eyes. Gray and Elfman were arguing. Wakaba was laughing while shaping figures with his smoke. Nab held two missions, unable to decide which to pick. Droy was trying to calm Levy, looking distressed. Laki was wiping a table. Macao, who had come back at some point, was drinking like there was no tomorrow. A guy dressed in black with long brown hair named Vijeeter was dancing intensely... and of course, Lucy, Mirajane, and Cana were talking.

People were laughing, people were fighting, people with serious faces who probably hadn’t done well on their missions, and people were bragging about their adventures.

This place was nice...

This place seemed very calm and welcoming... almost surreal that a guild like this existed.

Suddenly, a vision appeared in Allen’s eyes. The once bright walls now looked grayish and stained with red. The lively place had turned gloomy, with corpses scattered everywhere... No matter who they were in this world, or how important they might be in the future, death showed no mercy.

Allen didn’t look away. This was a possible future if he lost again. Allen felt sorry — he had involved these good people in his deadly fight against Lucifer.

"I know what the third condition was..." Allen murmured, clenching his fist. The chilling scene faded, and everything returned to lively as if nothing had happened. Then he noticed Cana’s gaze on him and quickly regained his usual calm and confidence.

People in the Chat had not noticed his change since the system was aware and only showed the argument and reconciliation between Lucy and Mirajane. However, Cana didn’t miss Allen’s serious look, but before she could ask anything, the guild door opened.

"WHERE IS ALLEN?!"

Natsu burst in with a sharp, serious look. His demeanor seemed different as if he had been through hell and back before coming here.

"I was wondering why Macao came back alone..." Wakaba said, smoking.

"Yeah, on the way Natsu started talking about defeating his nemesis and reclaiming his pride or something like that," said Macao while drinking a beer.

Allen glanced sideways at Natsu, who looked like the protagonist returning after a training arc.

"Allen, fight me!" Natsu growled as the temperature around him rose.

"I’m not in the mood..." Allen replied, ignoring him.

Natsu growled and wrapped his fists in flames. "I won’t let you escape! Fire Dragon’s Iron Fist!"

"Natsu, don’t!" Happy shouted, flying from behind, but it was too late.

Natsu attacked with all his strength. Allen didn’t even look. Natsu might be reckless, but he wasn’t completely stupid — he wanted to take advantage of Allen underestimating him, so he attacked while Allen was still sitting.

That was the plan...

However, reality was cruel. Natsu’s smile vanished as he crashed into an invisible shield like an insect hitting a windshield.

"W-what is this?"

Allen turned in his seat and tapped Natsu’s forehead with his finger. Natsu’s face distorted for a moment, then his nose started bleeding and he was sent flying backward, landing unconscious not far away.

"Huh?! Natsu was defeated with a single blow?!" Macao shouted, having not been there the first time.

"Well, that’s what happens if you only train for one day..." Wakaba said.

"In fact, this time he beat him with just a finger, so the gap has actually widened, not closed," Nab shook his head.

"Natsu..." Happy knelt sadly beside him.

"..." Allen made a pile of fish appear next to Happy, making him forget about his friend.

"Aye!"

...

After the incident—which really wasn’t one, since everyone expected it—the guild returned to normal. Lucy sat next to Allen and ordered dessert while Mirajane went back to work. Gray approached Natsu and gave him a couple of kicks while mocking him (he was in his underwear).

Cana returned to drinking at a nearby table but kept glancing at Allen as if wanting to ask something.

Everything seemed to be returning to normal until the door was kicked open... again. This time it was Loke, but he looked very scared.

"It’s terrible!" Loke shouted with a pale face. "Erza has returned!"

The guild fell silent, then into panic, except for Mirajane who stayed calm, and Lucy, who puffed her cheek, feeling that if her greatest rival wasn’t Mirajane, it would be the beautiful and powerful Titania.

"Damn, we’re all gonna die!" Macao said, not knowing what to do.

"The ’see you later’ was unexpectedly short, Erza," Allen murmured with a slight smile, sipping his tea.

...

The floor started shaking as if a giant monster was approaching. Many swallowed nervously while Allen stayed calm, Mirajane had an ironic smile, and Lucy wore a somber expression, feeling déjà vu.

Once again, Erza appeared with a huge shadow looming over her head. Her imposing figure caught everyone’s attention—except Allen, who kept sipping his tea silently.

"Welcome back, Erza~" Mirajane was the first to greet her.

"Umu, I’m back," Erza said with a calm look leaving the huge horn aside. Then her expression turned severe and she raised her voice. "I’ve heard rumors about all of you! You go around causing destruction wherever you go!"

Many in the guild flinched, thinking she was talking about them.

"Also, Wakaba, you’re dropping ash everywhere. Nab! Stop hanging around the request board all day and get to work! Vijeeter, if you’re going to dance, do it outside! Cana! What kind of indecent way is that to drink?! And Macao!... no matter..."

"Say something!" Macao said.

"Was she always this kind of person?" Lucy’s eyes opened wide, unable to believe that the polite, formal girl with natural charm could be a demon when angry.

Erza looked at Lucy before giving a slight smile, then looked at Allen. The eye, not covered by her hair, lit up. Lucy immediately switched to combat mode, but before anything could happen, Erza glanced at Mirajane.

"Is the guild master here?" she asked, returning to her calm and simple demeanor.

"No, he went to the regular meeting..."

Upon hearing Mirajane’s reply, Erza became thoughtful. Then she looked up and walked toward the bar. However, halfway there she stepped on something.

"Ugh!"

"Natsu? What are you doing on the floor? Never mind..." Erza kicked Natsu aside, leaving everyone pale.

When she reached Allen, she lifted him onto her shoulder without saying a word and started walking toward the exit.

"...?" Allen was completely caught off guard—he hadn’t imagined this would happen. The entire guild froze at her action.

"Hey, what are you doing?!" Lucy shouted.

"I need help, don’t worry," Erza answered casually.

"No, why are you carrying him like that?!"

"He could’ve avoided it if he wanted..." Erza stated this as an undeniable fact.

"Is that true, Allen?" Mirajane asked with a scary smile. "Mmm, so you prefer redheads?"

Erza blinked, not understanding Mirajane’s words. Allen had remained silent but finally spoke.

"In truth, she took me unawares at first, because she had already gained my trust, but then when I thought about freeing myself, I got lazy... and things ended like this..." Allen said tiredly.

"Hey, you can’t! If you’re going to let yourself be kidnapped, at least tell me first!" Lucy pouted.

"Sorry..." Allen replied, still being carried by Erza.

"So..." Erza turned to leave with her captured prey, but Gray interrupted her.

"Erza, what did he mean when he said that you have earned his trust?"

Erza’s eyes shone and she puffed out her chest proudly. "We fought a few hours ago in Onibas Town, and he defeated me!"

"..."

The guild fell completely silent, including Natsu who woke up only to turn pale.

"It wasn’t really a victory, was it?" Allen said before disappearing from Erza’s shoulder to appear beside her.

"Don’t worry, I consider it my defeat!" Erza puffed out her chest, reaffirming her pride.

"Oh..." Allen admired Erza’s strength. She was able to accept her loss with a smile. Of course, more than a death match, it had been a friendly encounter. Still, this was unexpected for Allen.

"In that case..." Allen lifted Erza in his arms, surprising her. "I should be carrying you, shouldn’t I?"

"W-what are you d-doing?!" Erza didn’t know how to react for a moment before blushing. She was the feared Titania; people treated her like a monster, not a girl. But here she was, being carried like a princess. Erza’s brain stopped working...

Allen laughed at her cute reaction and left the guild with his captive in his arms, leaving everyone with their jaws on the floor. Lucy, full of anger and jealousy, rushed out of the guild.
