I really didn’t want to lead Ultra Star astray
Chapter 3 - The History of the Land of Light

Chapter 3: The History of the Land of Light

Mu Yang stared blankly at Zoffy. Wait, sir, shouldn’t you be trying to silence me right now? Or is it that I’ve already been factored into your plans?

“Moreover, being exposed to the Plasma Spark doesn’t guarantee success!” the Mother of Ultra said. “Back then, that evolution killed the vast majority of people. Some had the darkness in their hearts amplified by the Plasma Spark, causing them to fall into darkness. Only a few, those with radiant hearts, transformed into Giants of Light like us! But those corrupted giants couldn’t withstand the environment of the Land of Light and were eradicated by the Plasma Spark!”

“What?” Mu Yang’s eyes widened. So there was danger involved? Thinking about it, didn’t he feel like he was melting earlier? “But I wouldn’t exactly call myself someone with a radiant heart, would I?”

He had some self-awareness. It must have been the system that saved him! Otherwise, someone like him would’ve probably self-destructed, right?

“You’re being a bit too hard on yourself, aren’t you?” the Mother of Ultra continued. “The light in your heart is extraordinarily pure—the purest, most sacred light I’ve ever seen! Someone with such light definitely isn’t a bad person!”

Mu Yang gave a wry smile. That was because of his cheat, wasn’t it?

“Indeed, even Father’s light isn’t as pure as yours!” Zoffy nodded knowingly from the side.

“I once protected Earth for a time, and though I hate to admit it, some humans are indeed selfish, even evil. Yet I still choose to protect them. Humans have an infinitely bright future, and many carry a light unlike any other species in the universe! We’re incredibly optimistic about humanity’s future!” Seven spoke up, having the most authority as an Ultraman who had protected Earth.

Mu Yang looked at Seven thoughtfully. This Ultraman seemed to be the one who loved humans the most, even serving time in a cosmic prison for them. Apparently, when the Star of Ultra was about to be destroyed in the future, he didn’t react too drastically either.

“You said you’ve seen our TV shows, so you must know about us. Therefore, I, Zoffy, on behalf of the Space Garrison, invite you to join the Land of Light and protect the peace of the universe together!” Zoffy suddenly declared with a solemn tone.

Mu Yang froze, then cautiously said, “But what if I want to return to my original world? My parents are there!”

He wouldn’t have angered the big shot, would he? He wasn’t their match right now.

Joining the Land of Light? Wouldn’t that make him a corporate slave?

Sure, in his previous life, some said the Land of Light had its dark side, and there were claims that the Father of Ultra was a scheming guy who’d even screw over his own brother’s wife. But those were just stage plays or secondary settings.

This was an ideal society with no crime for 400,000 years! That was the official, correct setting!

“Do you have some sort of misunderstanding about joining the Land of Light?” Zoffy said with a half-amused, half-exasperated tone. “The Land of Light never forces its people to do anything. You can do whatever you want here, as long as it’s not evil—no one will stop you. Even if you join, you don’t have to stay in the Land of Light. You can go to Earth or search for your original world, and we’d be happy to help you!”

Mu Yang felt a wave of understanding. While Zoffy’s words implied that not joining might make returning to his universe difficult, Mu Yang knew it wasn’t a threat. Even if he didn’t join, they’d still try to help him find his way home.

“Yes, Mu Yang, you’re the most talented warrior I’ve ever seen. Even if you don’t join, we’ll do our best to train you into a capable fighter. But I hope you’ll join us in combating darkness. The Land of Light’s strength alone isn’t enough, and right now, you’re in a precarious position,” Seven added.

“Alright, I’m willing to join the Land of Light, but I don’t like being controlled!” Mu Yang said after some thought. Joining seemed like the best option for him right now.

His talent was indeed impressive, but he had no combat experience. Back in his world, if he’d known how to fight, he’d have been a delinquent… In a peaceful society, what was the point of fighting?

Joining the Land of Light was indeed the best choice, especially since he needed to earn shock points. The stronger the being, the more shock points they could provide.

Was there a better place to farm shock points than the Land of Light?

If he didn’t like it here, he could always jump ship later. For now, he’d lay low and develop his strength. Once he was powerful enough, who could control him? Was he weaker than Beliar?

“Welcome to our ranks! You’ll definitely love it here!” Zoffy said with genuine joy, though his lack of facial expressions meant it came through in his tone alone.

“By the way, don’t you want to know what I saw in those other worlds?” Mu Yang asked with a mischievous glint in his eye.

“No, everything follows its own rules. Deliberately changing things would be meaningless!” Zoffy replied without hesitation. “It could also cause more trouble. The King can foresee many things, but he doesn’t tell us, letting us face them ourselves so we can grow.”
