Chapter 51: Middle Tiered Demonic Beasts

Lukas looked down from the edge of the wall and saw the hundreds of Fire Deer trying to leap and climb up the wall.

Fortunately, the height of the wall was insurmountable for them.

He didn’t hesitate and hurled his Ice Spikes at them.

The Fire Deer retaliated.

Numerous fireballs were shot at the Ice Spikes but didn’t do much to the Ice Spikes.

The Ice Spikes plunged into the Fire Deer and ripped them apart.

Limbs, heads and innards of the Fire Deer were strewn into the air.

Icicles shot at soldiers running in to reinforce and help get the wounded out of the way.

The Ice Wolves then had a feast with those soldiers.

Lukas knew he had to do something quick.

He placed his hands onto the ground, and the ice extended towards the three Fire Deer.

The ice caught the feet of the Fire Deer running, and the momentum of their charge didn’t stop.

Their feet, which were frozen instantly, broke off and they fell forward onto the ground.

His Ice Spikes were waiting, and they shot at the Fire Deer from the air.

Lukas felt that familiar surge of energy coming back into his body.

His teammates were in awe of him by now.

One of the soldiers turned the turret with the rapid firing machine gun mounted on top and fired at the Ice Wolves.

A trail of amber swept across, and the Ice Wolves burst into a pulp of red mist.

"Heck, Riley. I won’t let you steal the limelight this time."

A man with a headband and moustache appeared from the stairs and said, "Time for you to let me be the hero."

Behind him, more and more awakened appeared.

These awakened teams that were activated had finally arrived.

"It’s all yours." Riley nodded at the man with headband and moustache, and he retreated from the edge of the wall.

So did Lukas and the other team members.

The awakened teams took over and cleared those demonic beasts that had breached onto the wall.

Lukas handed out some of his energy bars to the other team members.

They took them and quickly munched on them.

Slowly, the situation felt to be in control again.

Riley and the other team members were able to regain some of their energy.

Ammunition was replenished and the soldiers finally had the capacity to take the injured to the casualty point.

"Don’t lose focus! It’s not over yet." The Captain shouted his orders at the soldiers.

Rodney, who was standing beside the Captain, smoked his cigar to try and calm himself down.

And the Captain was right as the earth trembled.

Another wave of the demonic beasts was coming.

The Captain took up his binoculars and his jaw dropped.

He swallowed a mouthful of saliva and turned to Rodney.

"Tell me." Rodney asked.

"Middle Tiered demonic beasts.... All of them..."

Rodney snatched the binoculars from the Captain’s hand and looked.

Underground shelter.

Like the other citizens, Bundy was with his young daughter, trying to find a place to sit down.

His daughter’s legs were shaky as she walked, suffering from an illness since young.

But the underground shelter was already packed.

Bundy decided to carry his daughter in his arms while he tried to find a place.

"Yes, I will." Bundy walked and tried to find a place to settle.

"Here. Over here." A voice cried out to him.

Bundy glanced over and saw a young woman waving at him.

He walked over and the young woman said, "Here, let her sit. I have other things to do."

The young woman, Patricia, stood up and ushered Bundy to let his daughter sit on the vacated area.

"Thanks, but where are you going?" Bundy asked.

"As an awakened, the city needs people like me." Patricia said.

Students like her with awakened powers were tasked to protect the underground shelter.

Her parents, who were soldiers, were safe as they were stationed at the underground base in the north of the city.

And she wasn’t going to let them down.

Hordes of Ember Elephants came rushing towards the wall.

The dust and particles on the ground flew up into the air as the earth trembled with every step they took.
