Chapter 432: Chapter 132: It Must Be Tricky If It Can Make Him Feel Strong_2
He looked toward the zombies not far off, waving his hand.
"Come and catch me."
Then he ran forward, thinking to lure the zombies away.
Officer Huang watched the boy running and taunting him, nostrils flaring as he gave a guttural growl, and then he quickly set off, charging towards the boy with great speed.
Those staying in the car saw what was happening and hurriedly urged the driver to go faster.
"Brother, I want my brother..." The girl, seeing her brother chased by the zombies, banged on the door.
The young man, seeing the situation and looking at the boy being chased by the zombies, made a quick estimate. Feeling that the boy couldn’t hold out much longer, he gestured to the driver to open the door, then leaned over and whispered to the girl.
"Go to your brother."
"Oh, thank you."
The girl got out and ran towards her brother.
The young man watched the two figures with a smile and closed the car door.
"What polite children."
At that moment,
The boy’s face showed sheer terror, the speed was too fast, beyond what his short legs could manage. Then he saw his sister running towards them, his eyes nearly splitting with rage, as he roared.
"Sister, don’t come here!"
Whoosh.
The pursuing zombie lunged at him, he yelled and swung his fist, smashing it towards Officer Huang, hitting him squarely, but Officer Huang was grabbing another zombie that was about to pounce on the boy by the head.
With a squelch,
He crushed its head.
Thick blood spattered, like a watermelon bursting open. The boy stared wide-eyed as if seeing a ghost, slowly lifting his head to look at Officer Huang standing in front of him, who was lowering his head to meet his gaze.
His fist, swinging at the zombie, went limp. In such a scene, he was so frightened that he swallowed hard, feeling at a loss for what to say.
Officer Huang grabbed the boy by the collar, growling as if to say, "Kid... assaulting an officer is a serious offense. Are you so bold at such a young age?"
Meanwhile, he sniffed the boy.
The scent left the boy somewhat woozy from Officer Huang’s breath.
Now, up close to Officer Huang’s ferocious face, the boy’s heart pounded heavily, unable to help peeing himself in fear—after all, he was still a twelve-year-old child.
Even in an apocalyptic world where he had to be strong to protect his sister, deep down he was still a child at heart, with fear and timidity as a child’s innate nature.
"Let go of my brother," the girl demanded, hitting Officer Huang.
The young man who had been watching was shocked by their audacity. Indeed, children can be brave and fearless, daring to hit a zombie. It was downright suicidal.
Yet, their actions afforded everyone else more time.
A moment of truth had come.
"Heh heh,"
Officer Huang growled lowly, released the boy, then lowered his head, his pale eyes shifting as he stared at the girl. The boy stepped in front of his sister, arms outstretched and head held high, trembling with fear, yet pretending to be strong.
Officer Huang raised his hand, and the boy shut his eyes in terror, not expecting the zombie before him would actually pat his head.
He looked on, astonished.
"Brother, the zombie uncle is helping us, he isn’t hurting us," the girl said in a faint voice.
The boy looked at Officer Huang.
Was it really as his sister said?
Officer Huang led the children by the hand, the boy feeling a sticky warmth in his palm. Looking down, he remembered the zombie head that had just been crushed, realizing Officer Huang hadn’t wiped his hands.
He could only endure it.
Contrast that with his sister, who wasn’t afraid at all but appeared very at ease.
"What?"
The survivors inside the bus peered out the windows, stunned by the scene; the zombies hadn’t hurt the children.
"That kid was right; the zombies won’t harm us."
"How is this possible."
"You see, the zombie is taking them away. I think they must have a fixed shelter. If we go with them, it must be safe."
Everyone was deep in thought.
The situation had a tremendous impact on them.
"Open the door, I’m leaving with them. With such a powerful zombie protecting me, life will surely be much easier than staying on this bus," someone urged, opening the door and then running towards Officer Huang.
"Wait for me."
The middle-aged man was stout with a bald head and waddled as he ran, looking rather ungainly, like a rolling ball of flesh.
Officer Huang paid no attention, while the siblings looked back as they were pulled along reluctantly.
"Take me with you."
The middle-aged man caught up, arms outstretched, panting heavily. Confronted with the terrifying sight of the zombie, anyone would be nervous, and he was no exception. But seeing that the two children were unharmed, what was there to fear?
"Heh heh,"
Officer Huang growled deeply at the person blocking the path, clearly displeased.
The middle-aged man, suppressing his panic, pleaded, "I’ll go with you, save me, please. I really don’t want to stay there."
Officer Huang let go, moving closer to sniff him.
Splat!
He bit into the man’s neck, blood spraying. No one had expected this turn of events.
The siblings trembled in fear.
Officer Huang roared, and as the middle-aged man began to turn into a zombie, he slapped his head, shattering it instantaneously.
The people remaining on the bus turned pale with fright at the sight, urging the driver to start the car, to drive away quickly...
They had been mistaken.
The zombie wasn’t friendly to everyone.
Officer Huang approached the siblings again and continued to hold their hands, the bloody palm clutching the boy’s, viscous liquid dripping slowly down.
