I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl -
Chapter 135 – Third Zombie King
Chapter 135: Chapter 135 – Third Zombie King
The morning light softly pierced through the castle window, illuminating the cold, slick black marble floor. The blue flame in the fireplace had died out since the night before, leaving behind faint embers that barely made a sound. Sylvia slowly opened her eyes, letting the silence welcome her awakening consciousness.
No dreams.
She sat up on the bed and let out a quiet sigh. The morning air carried the familiar scent of mushrooms and dew from outside, mingling faintly with the smell of damp earth and metal the scent of a world long destroyed, now trying to rebuild itself. Out there, the world hadn’t stopped spinning, and life continued on in its new form.
With lazy movements, Sylvia rose from the bed. She smoothed her slightly tangled hair and then stood in front of her tall bedroom window. From behind the glass, her eyes looked far toward the settlement slowly stirring to life. Zombies moved in silence some pushing carts filled with building materials, others digging small canals for sewage systems, while others worked on constructing homes with the help of humans.
The city was truly beginning to take shape.
"It’s morning already," Sylvia murmured, touching her fingertip to the cold glass.
She removed her pajamas, revealing a flawless, unscarred figure despite surviving hundreds of battles. Without hurry, she put on the black dress prepared on the chair and walked out of her room. This time, she didn’t use Void Steps she wanted to see with her own eyes how far the construction had come while she was busy hunting down the Zombie Kings.
Her steps took her through ruins and newly erected buildings. In the distance, vast wheat fields glowed golden. Humans with nature-based elements had accelerated the growth using magic to heal the soil and hasten the harvest. Those fields were not just food sources, but symbols of cooperation between two races that once slaughtered each other.
"Maybe I should start implementing an economic system here..." Sylvia whispered. "And Sofia... she must understand this better. She once led a human base, so her insight will be useful."
Her journey continued into the city center. There, Sylvia saw something that made her pause human children playing together with zombie children. They chased each other, laughed, and threw around a ball made of worn cloth. No fear, no panicked screams. Even the zombie children, though unable to speak, played along with awkward yet enthusiastic movements.
When they noticed Sylvia, smiles lit up their faces. Some ran up to her, tugging at her dress or simply gazing in admiration. Sylvia returned the gesture with a gentle smile and bent down slightly to greet them. Even though she was the Queen Zombie, to these children, she was part of a new world one that was safe and full of hope.
After playing with them for a while, Sylvia continued walking toward Sofia’s house. When she arrived, she saw two young girls Rina and Vivi sitting on the front steps. They looked anxious, as if wanting to say something important but hesitant to knock on the door.
Upon seeing Sylvia, they quickly stood and bowed respectfully. Though they had been living in the city for some time, their relationship with Sylvia still felt awkward. Her status as Queen Zombie and her overwhelming power made them cautious, though no hatred was visible in their eyes.
"Are you waiting for Sofia?" Sylvia asked briefly.
Rina nodded. "Yes... but she’s still asleep. We didn’t dare wake her..."
Sylvia gave a small smile and walked straight into the house. Unlike before, she felt no need to knock. That house had become familiar to her. Upon entering Sofia’s room, she found the girl still sleeping soundly, her face peaceful like a child in a sweet dream.
Gently, Sylvia approached and sat beside the bed.
"Sofia," she called softly.
But Sofia merely stirred and... hugged Sylvia like a body pillow, burying her face in the Queen Zombie’s belly, then continued sleeping with steady breaths.
Sylvia let out a small sigh. Then, with a mischievous smile, she leaned close to Sofia’s ear and whispered, "Wake up, Sofia... the sun is already high."
Sofia’s ears immediately turned red. She squirmed, then slowly opened her eyes. Upon seeing Sylvia, an annoyed expression crossed her face but the blush on her cheeks was impossible to hide. Clearly, the whisper had been too close and tickled her.
"You’re annoying," she mumbled.
"But you’re awake, aren’t you?" Sylvia replied with a teasing smile.
Sofia stared at her for a moment, then turned her face away, still half-asleep but gradually becoming aware. The morning air drifted in from the half-open window, bringing with it the fresh scent of wheat and wind from the north.
Sofia slowly sat up, rubbing her still-heavy eyes. Her Golden hair was messy, but her gaze began to focus on Sylvia, who was still sitting at the edge of the bed. She was still a bit annoyed for being woken up, but she knew she had to get up.
"I’m going to change my clothes," said Sofia, and Sylvia nodded but remained silently seated at the edge of the bed.
"Why are you still sitting there? Get out already," Sofia said firmly, though with a hint of embarrassment.
Although Sylvia was a bit reluctant, she obeyed and stepped out of Sofia’s room.
This world felt a little more peaceful though they both knew, it was merely the calm before the storm.
And indeed, a storm was approaching.
Far from Sylvia’s castle and city, deep within the ruins of a tower made of metal and stone, a man sat upon a throne of bones. His eyes glowed blood red, his body tall and imposing, and an aura of death surrounded him like an invisible fog.
His deep voice rumbled across the throne room.
"So, the other two Zombie Kings are dead..."
One of his subordinates, bowing low, answered in a hoarse voice, "Yes, Your Majesty. Both were killed... by the Queen Zombie."
"Hmm... so it’s her," the king muttered with a grin. "The one who also killed one of my elites... What was his name again? Zalark? Landarsk? Ah, forget it. Doesn’t matter."
He slowly stood up, letting his long black cloak drag across the dusty floor.
"If you can capture her alive and bring her before me... That would be delightful." He chuckled, his smile wide and sinister. "She would make a fine queen."
The wind of death blew through the ruins.
And with it, the final darkness began to move.
