Chapter 132: Chapter 132 – War in the City of the Dead

BOOOOOM!!!

The first explosion erupted as the Second Zombie King slammed his massive sword into the ground. The earth cracked, and chunks of stone flew through the air, creating a rain of debris all around them. The shockwave rattled down to their bones, and Sofia had to leap back to avoid a huge flying slab headed her way.

Meanwhile, Sylvia didn’t move an inch. Her crimson eyes gleamed, and Black chains slithered out from her back with a sharp hiss like starving serpents waking from a long slumber.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Two chains lashed forward like whips, smashing into the giant’s chest with a series of harsh clangs. But the Second Zombie King’s body was like armor. His rotting flesh was hard almost like layered bone and iron.

"He’s tougher than I thought," Sylvia muttered, narrowing her eyes.

Sofia wasn’t about to stay idle. With blinding speed, she darted to the side, sprinting along the ruins before leaping onto a broken pillar. From there, she hurled her spear with full force its shaft glowing crimson, surrounded by purifying flames that curved like scythe blades.

FWOOOSH!! THUD!!!

The spear embedded itself in the king’s shoulder, piercing halfway into his decayed flesh, making the monster roar in rage.

GRRRRRRAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

massive hand swung at Sofia like a giant mallet.

She jumped down at the last second. The ruin beneath her feet shattered into dust.

"Damn it, this thing’s not just strong... it’s fast too!" Sofia growled, rolling as she landed and magically recalled her spear.

Meanwhile, Sylvia raised her hand. Twelve chains rose into the air, then plunged down like a hellish rain of spears.

CLANG! KRANG! THUD! SHHAAAA!!

Some pierced the king’s body. Others wrapped around his limbs, trying to bind him. But the monster roared and yanked on the chains with brutal strength, dragging Sylvia a few steps forward.

The chains trembled violently.

"He’s... pulling me?!" Sylvia was momentarily shocked.

Then, with terrifying force, the Zombie King twisted his body and flung Sylvia aside. She crashed through a stone pillar, sending up an explosion of dust.

"Sylvia!!" Sofia cried out, but couldn’t run to her her opponent was already swinging again.

The colossal sword swept sideways, cleaving through rubble and obliterating everything in its path.

Holding her breath, Sofia dashed forward and slid low beneath the arc of the strike. As she passed under the king’s leg, she drove her spear into his right knee and pulled down with all her might.

KRAAK!!

One knee collapsed.

Sofia sprang up and followed through with a powerful kick to the side of his head.

BAM!!!

But the massive body barely moved.

The monster turned toward her, revealing a grotesque smile formed from rotting flesh and a cracked jawbone.

His giant hand swung again!

BRAGHH!!!

Sofia was sent flying, crashing into the wall of a crumbling building and bringing it down with a thunderous rumble.

"Sofia!" Sylvia’s voice rang out again.

From the haze of debris, Sylvia emerged. Her clothes were torn in places, blood at the corner of her lips, but her eyes burned brightly. Her chains now shimmered with a dark crimson light, filled with unfamiliar energy.

RRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

A low growl echoed as Sylvia’s chains ignited with black fire. They no longer looked like weapons they moved like hungry beasts. They shot forward and coiled around the giant’s body with brutal force.

The king roared, trying to tear the chains away. But the black flames spread across his flesh.

"You want to know why they call me the Goddess of Chaos in the other world?" Sylvia muttered, stepping forward slowly.

Her chains tore off one of the monster’s arms.

GRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

The monster screamed, but then glared at her with a wild look. From his back, three fleshy pods burst open releasing three elite zombies. They had humanoid forms, blood-red eyes, and sharp fangs. Each wielded a blunt weapon, and they moved with frightening speed.

"Elite underlings?" Sylvia smirked. "So you finally brought them out."

But before she could act, the three zombies bolted toward Sofia.

BOOOM!!!

Sofia, just getting back to her feet, was slammed by one of them. She rolled away, dodging the other two, then stood with ragged breaths.

"Damn it! Three against one?!"

Her spear trembled, and the red aura flared around her again."Alright then... let’s dance."

With a fierce cry, Sofia charged one of them. Her spear slashed at its chest, but the zombie parried with a bone sword.

CLANG!

Fast strikes. Relentless exchanges. Sofia fought all three at once—leaping, spinning, and stabbing in a bloody ballet. One zombie grazed her arm, but she retaliated by plunging her spear into its eye.

CRACK!!

One elite zombie down. Two remained, pressing harder.

Meanwhile, Sylvia now stood atop the ruins. With her hand raised, she summoned a massive Nether Flame a black fireball the size of a wagon. She hurled it at the zombie king’s head just as he began to rise.

BOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

A black explosion engulfed half of the titan’s body. His flesh melted. The Nether flames devoured his bones and innards.

But still... he stood.

Half his body gone. Black blood streamed from his eyes. Yet he rose again and roared.

Sofia finally dispatched the last two elite zombies and leapt onto the king’s head.

"SYLVIAAAA!! NOW!!"

Sylvia smiled.

All twelve chains shot upward... and pierced the king’s skull from every angle—through his eyes, mouth, and the back of his head.

Sofia drove her spear from above, straight into his crown.

SHHRRAAAAAKKKK!!!

The zombie king froze. His eyes went blank. His sword dropped. His body slowly tilted backward... then exploded into dust and rotten blood.

Sofia landed with a hard thud.

Sylvia climbed down from the ruins and walked toward her.

"I told you... this could be a fun warm-up."

Sofia let out a long breath. "Easy for you to say."

From the remains of the king, a red crystal emerged. Sylvia picked it up and stowed it away.

"Two down. One left."

The sky was still gloomy. The city still silent.

But for now... the victory was theirs.
