I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl -
Chapter 115 – Farewell to Peace
Chapter 115: Chapter 115 – Farewell to Peace
Eighth day.
The break has ended.
I stood at the window of the inn room for the last time, watching the morning sun warmly illuminate the city. This city... it felt too peaceful. Too quiet. Too comfortable for someone like me someone who came from a world on the brink of collapse.
One week. I had been here for a full week. Buying food, trying to cook on my own, fishing at the lake, and finally... making the best bacon I had ever tasted. But all of this was just a pause. A breath of air in the sea of poison that is this world.
And now... I must continue walking.
Even though a part of my heart is reluctant, I can’t stay still any longer. The world I come from, no matter how grim and full of screams, is still my home. There are still people waiting for me there. My army, my subordinates... and Sofia. I wonder how they’re doing now. The last I heard through telepathy from the Tyrant now going by Zark he was still in a coma, though his condition had stabilized.
But I didn’t reach out to Zark this time.
After packing and leaving the room key on the reception desk, I stepped out of the inn. The owner the mysterious woman who may or may not be a former noble or royal chef was nowhere to be seen this morning. But I left a note on the counter along with a small yellow crystal as a thank you gift.
My steps took me to my first destination before leaving this city for good: the Adventurers’ Guild.
The building hadn’t changed much. Still crowded, still full of people bustling about, and still carrying that familiar scent a mix of metal, blood, and the faint, ever-present smell of fermented ale soaked into the old wooden floors.
As I stepped inside, several gazes turned toward me. Maybe because I hadn’t been around much, or maybe because of my undead aura which, although not aggressive, still stood out amidst the demon, elves, warewolf and beastkin.
And then, my eyes met someone familiar.
The vampire receptionist woman with silver hair and a haughty expression the same one I met when I first arrived in this city.
When our eyes met, I could see her face go pale. Paler... like someone who had just seen a ghost from the past come back to collect a debt.
I hadn’t even spoken a word yet, but she quickly bowed slightly and hurriedly called out to her colleague.
"R-Roshenya-san, can you handle this one...?"
She was referring, of course, to the dark elf receptionist who had also dealt with me before. Her expression remained as calm as ever as she approached.
"Are you here to update your guild card, Miss Sylvia?" she asked politely.
I nodded. "Yes. I’d like to update my card. And... if I’m not mistaken, I should be eligible for a rank up."
She gave a faint smile. "That’s correct. You sold a large number of high-grade crystals when you first arrived here, but didn’t go through any further validation. Normally, we don’t process rank-ups without the member’s presence. But given the quantity and quality of the crystals you submitted... well, let’s take a look."
I handed her my old guild card still made of wood, signifying Rank F. Despite all I’d been through and all the monsters I had slain far above that level, I had deliberately avoided any formalities during this week. I just wanted to rest.
"Please wait a moment," she said, taking the card to the back room.
I waited by one of the pillars, watching the people pass by. Some adventurers looked new young faces with minimal gear. Others were veterans, complete with old scars and sharp eyes.
Five minutes later, the dark elf returned.
She handed me my new card no longer made of wood, but gleaming silver metal.
"A silver card. That signifies Rank B," she explained. "Congratulations, Miss Sylvia. You are now among the mid-to-upper level adventurers."
I nodded slightly. "Thank you."
She gave a slight bow. "And thank you for not causing any trouble while staying in our city," she said half-jokingly.
I offered a faint smile. "Of course. I was on vacation."
After saying my goodbyes, I left the guild, descended the steps, and walked away from the crowd. The road toward the city gate was a bit busy this morning, but no one dared block my path. Whether it was because of my appearance, or because some of them recognized me from the events at the guild last week, I didn’t know.
Once I was far enough from the settlement, surrounded only by trees and open fields, I stopped.
I opened my storage.
And inside as always, waiting faithfully was my zombie dragon. A massive figure with glossy black scales, glowing red eyes, and a soft breath that rose like smoke from the underworld.
It had been a while since I summoned him. The last time we were together was when heading to the dungeon.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting," I whispered.
The dragon lowered his head slightly, his body trembling faintly as if holding back excitement. I leapt onto his back with a single smooth motion, pulled up my hooded cloak, and leaned back.
"Let’s go... to the Tower of Echoes."
Without another word, the dragon’s great wings spread wide one flap, and the ground trembled.
Then we flew.
The wind whipped against my face. The earth shrank below us. The city, rivers, fields they all faded into the distance. The world felt vast once more. No boundaries. No walls. Just the sky, clouds, and the sound of the wind in my ears.
My next destination was clear.
The Tower of Echoes one of the last places marked on the ancient map I found inside the dungeon. And perhaps... a doorway to something that could lead me home.
I don’t know what awaits me there. But one thing is certain:
This journey is far from over.
And I won’t return empty-handed.
