Part 4
After class, as everyone returned to their classrooms, Yuzuki wore a sullen expression.
“…Impossible! How could I have lost…?!”
He couldn’t accept the results of the previous class.
He had been using his “purifying power” in P.E. class to show off his superhuman physical abilities.
He thought he could easily defeat Yuuya because of that.
“I didn’t sense any demonic power from him. But he beat me with just his physical abilities alone?”
Of course, Yuzuki hadn’t used his purifying power at full strength.Had he done so, the ball would have exploded the moment he threw it.
Still, he was able to blow Akira away while holding back, so it should have been impossible for a normal human to deal with him.
“Could he have some kind of special power I don’t know about…?”
With that thought, Yuzuki’s expression became serious.
“…Well, never mind. I’ll just have to find out if that was a fluke.”
He muttered this to himself as he returned to the classroom.

“Please take these to the other room!”
Kaori instructed the butler and maids to move the furniture out of the room.
She was doing this for the upcoming Christmas party and was determined to make everyone as comfortable as possible.
“Ojou-sama, what should we do with these vases?”
“Yes… Please move all of them to another room as well.”
“Yes, Ojou-sama.”
The butler nodded and quickly began moving the furniture out.
Once all the furniture had been moved, Kaori looked at the empty room and groaned.
“Hm… I thought it would be in the way, so I had all the furniture moved out, but now it looks too bare.”
As she said this, she looked around the room and suddenly had an idea.
“Oh, how about putting the statue from the garden in here?”
Kaori imagined what the statue would look like in the room and nodded.
“Yes, that might be a good idea. Everyone! Bring the statue from the east side of the garden into the room!”
Kaori gave the order immediately, and the butlers hurried to the garden and brought in the large statue.
It was made of marble and resembled the Venus de Milo. They placed it in the center of the room.
When Kaori saw the statue, she frowned.
“I guess it looks like a museum because there’s no furniture.”
As she said, the room itself was so luxurious that it resembled a museum exhibition room. It didn’t feel like Christmas, let alone a party.
“That’s right! Maybe it looks like a museum because there’s only one statue. In that case, how about we line up the busts we have in the house? If it has an impressive beard, it might look like Santa Claus and give the room a Christmas feel!”
Kaori gave instructions to the butlers again as soon as she thought that.
They did not complain but silently carried the busts that had been displayed around the house and placed them around the statue in the center.
However, the scene looked more like a creepy ritual than Christmas.
“…T-this is no good. It’s actually worse…”
Kaori was disheartened by the room’s eerie atmosphere when Tsukasa returned from work.
“It seems rather hectic.”
“Oh, Father! I’m sorry. Was I too loud?”
“No, it’s fine. But why are you making such a big change?”
When Tsukasa asked, Kaori happily opened her mouth.
“Actually, we’re having a Christmas party at our house during winter break. I’m planning to decorate this room with everyone on the day of the party. I thought I’d try to make the room look a little more Christmassy myself…”
“I see… I understand.”
As Kaori said, on the day of the party, they were all going to decorate the room together.
However, Ryo and the others had imagined simply putting up some decorations in a room with the furniture in its normal place. They hadn’t imagined a situation like this, with statues placed around the room.
But Kaori, unaware of this, was eagerly preparing for the party.
As a result, a huge statue was brought into the room, and it was surrounded by busts. This created a situation that made no sense, but Tsukasa didn’t seem to mind. Instead, he smiled.
“It looks fun. By the way, this is the first time Kaori has invited your friends over, isn’t it?”
“Yes! So I’ll do my best to entertain everyone!”
“Hahaha! I hope you all have fun. Anyway, it’s a Christmas party…”
“Father, is there any way to decorate this room to make it look more festive? As you can see, we brought in a statue and surrounded it with busts that look like Santa Claus.”
“Hmmm…”
Tsukasa looked around the room seriously when Kaori asked him for advice.
And then…
“…Hmmm. In that case, maybe you should decorate the statue in the south part of the garden, too. As it is now, the statue in the center looks out of place. Placing statues of the same size side by side might create a better balance.”
“I see!”
It sounded like strange advice to anyone who heard it, but Kaori acted as if she had never thought of that before.
Unfortunately, the butlers simply carried out the instructions as they were told, and no one commented on the state of the room.
As a result, more statues were brought in from the garden, following Kaori’s instructions.
Tsukasa smiled at Kaori, who had given the instructions.
“If you need a larger room for the statues, don’t hesitate to let me know.”
“Yes, thank you very much!”
The two laughed cheerfully.
“But… I’m starting to think it’s odd that there are more statues than people at the party.”
“You’re right… Hmm, I’m not sure what to do.”
In the end, Kaori couldn’t decide where to put the statues, so she emptied the room.
Yuuya and the others had no idea that preparations for the Christmas party were in chaos.

A few days have passed since the P.E. class with Yuzuki-kun’s class.
Surprisingly, another joint class with his class has been scheduled.
…After that class, he stopped snickering at me. Now, however, he kept looking at me suspiciously, and I felt strangely uncomfortable.
To be honest, I didn’t want anything more to do with him, but it was a class, so I had no choice.
Besides, it was a home economics class this time, not P.E., so there wouldn’t be any trouble like last time.
I tell myself this as I head to the home economics room with Ryo and the others.
The home economics room at Ousei Academy is so well-equipped that it doesn’t look like a normal high school; it’s quite impressive. It’s also spacious enough to accommodate two classes.
Once everyone has gathered, the home economics teacher, Anke-sensei, begins to speak.
“Okay, today I’d like you to divide into groups and make a dish.”
As I listened to Anke-sensei’s gentle and relaxed explanation, Yuzuki-kun suddenly raised his hand.
“You’re the transfer student, Komyouin-kun, right?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“What’s the matter?”
“Sensei… I want to have a cooking competition with Yuuya-kun over there.”
“Huh!?”
Surprised by this unexpected turn of events, Yuzuki continued.
“I heard that he’s good at cooking. That’s why I want to compete against him.”
“No, no, no, what kind of reason is that!?”
Just because I was good at cooking didn’t mean he wanted to compete against me.
First of all, this was a class, so there’s no way that would be allowed.
I was so flustered by the sudden cooking competition that I didn’t notice Yuzuki-kun’s mischievous glint in his eyes as he looked at Anke-sensei.
In any case, I thought such a proposal would obviously be rejected.
“Sounds interesting. Sure, why not?”
“What!?”
For some reason, Anke-sensei agreed to the cooking competition!
No, no, no, that’s not right! Anke-sensei, didn’t you say we would divide into groups and cook?
Naturally, my classmates looked confused and began to murmur.
“What’s going on?”
“A cooking competition out of the blue…”
“Is there something going on between those two?”
I was the one who wanted to know what’s going on.
He didn’t tell me when I asked him before, so what is it?
Then, Anke-sensei clapped her hands to get everyone’s attention.
“Okay, everyone else, you can just cook the dishes you prepared according to your recipes, so don’t worry.”
“Sensei, I’d rather do that too…”
“Yuuya-kun, please do your best in the cooking competition with Komyouin-kun.”
“Eh…”
There’s no way I can win…
My suggestion was rejected. In the end, Yuzuki-kun and I were left out of the group assignments, and everyone else started cooking.
Then, Anke-sensei came over to us.
“Now, the two of you can use any ingredients you want in this home economics room. Please make a dish of your choice.”
“O-okay…”
Why did this happen?
As I slumped my shoulders, Yuzuki-kun spoke to me.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how far you’ll go to get me to give in.”
“Um, why are you picking on me so much? Did I do something to you?”
When I asked him again, he looked annoyed for a moment.
But he quickly changed his expression and replied calmly.
“…It’s none of your business.”
“No, I’m definitely involved…”
“If you have time to talk nonsense, why don’t you get ready to cook?”
With that, he left me standing there.
What? He didn’t tell me anything.
As I stood there, confused, Luna approached me. She had come to get some ingredients.
“You got caught up in something strange.”
“Yeah, but I don’t understand why he’s bothering me like that.”
“Maybe it’s because of his strange power.”
“What! You noticed too, Luna?”
I asked in surprise. Luna nodded.
“Yeah, it was during P.E. class the other day.”
“I see…”
“By the way, do you have any idea what his power is?”
“Not at all. I think it’s similar to ‘demonic power’ or ‘spiritual power.’ Either way, I don’t understand the connection between him having that mysterious power and him picking on me.”
“Hmm… The only thing I can think of is that he has a rivalry with Yuuya, who has a similar power.”
“I wonder…”
Even if he has a rivalry with me, it’s just a hassle.
“Besides, if he doesn’t like that I have power, it doesn’t make sense to fight over something related to it. There’s nothing in this cooking competition that requires special powers, right?”
As I was thinking that, Luna continued, as if she had just remembered something:
“Come to think of it, he used a strange power for a moment earlier.”
“Eh, really?”
“Yeah, but it was just for a moment, and it was directed at Sensei.”
“To Sensei… Could it be…?”
“You noticed? It’s probably a power that manipulates thoughts. That’s why Sensei allowed the duel between Yuuya and him.”
“…Is that kind of power even possible?”
“That’s what you say, but Yuuya can do it, too. If necessary, you can use an even more powerful one… to completely brainwash someone.”
“What!? That can’t be…”
“No, if you can use Divine Authority, it’s only natural.”
“Ah…”
Luna’s words made me realize it.
If I used Divine Authority, it would indeed be easy to brainwash someone.
“I never thought of brainwashing…”
“Normally, if someone has such powerful abilities, they would use them for evil. But you don’t give off that kind of vibe at all. It’s strange.”
“R-really?”
Was she complimenting me?
As I made an expression that was hard to describe in response to Luna’s words, she continued.
“In any case, now that the battle has been decided, you must win.”
“…I’ll do my best.”
After I answered, Luna smiled and left.
“Hmph… I guess I’ll just do my best for now.”
I sighed and immediately started selecting ingredients to cook with.
