Chapter 320 - chapter 320: Clash of monsters

Two energies clash together, creating a force that immediately uprooted all the surrounding plants, leaving the ground barren and dented. Apollo watches as one of the cardinal dukes showcases his power.

Alicia's explanation cleared some things, but more importantly for them, the tree they were standing on was blown away, causing the two of them to fly away.

The clash becomes even more powerful as the dark energy materializes into a dome that protects Nero from Abraham's mere energy released.

Apollo just nodded while the two of them remained suspended in the air, protected by the authority of space from the shockwave.

Another clash of energies destroyed each other. This time, Harald Obsidianvale held his fist and made the two energies inside it clash, causing a massive explosion. Nero didn't flinch. His shield was still there, and not even a scratch could be seen.

"Okay, that wasn't what I expected," he just muttered before releasing a shout that caught even Apollo off guard.

"What the!!" He suddenly felt like his brain was being shaken continuously while pain akin to being peeled alive came to him.

"Relax, Apollo." Alicia came to aid him, and a white light enveloped their body, blocking the noise that always knocked him unconscious.

It was something he never expected; thus, he wasn't able to respond immediately. Meanwhile, opposite to him was Nero, who was still well-defended.

The battle between powers continued until four dazzling pillars descended from the sky. Apollo was left speechless as he saw the sacred weapons being called forth by their masters.

"It seems these four are about to get serious," Alicia said with no hint of worry or frustration.

"Will we alright just watching like this"

"Apollo, no need to overthink, just watch," Alicia reassured him as the fight escalated. Harald summoned his sacred axe, and it immediately tore through Nero's defense.

Apollo suddenly gasped as he realized that the foreign matter was finally taking damage. This was also the first time he saw how Nero fought without the use of power from any kind of weapon.

"Though that foreign power still feels like a cheat," he added in his mind.

As the axe and black matter clash together two giant boulders continue hitting each other. The ground was sunken, and the shockwaves were like blades that turn debris into dust before being blown away.

Nero was still very calm, manipulating the energy into multiple tentacles that hurled like bullets into its targets. The Duke of the West responded to the attack, moving his axe to match the rhythm of the attack. The blade and the tentacles created sparks upon contact, while the air generated from each attack created blades of wind that cut deeper as the battle intensified.

"Did he concentrate the amount of dark energy to make them studier?"

Jeremiah then showed how each of Harald's attacks stacks the damage before exploding at a certain point. The more power released, the more damaging it became once stacked up. Apollo watched carefully, analyzing the attack pattern and technique of the Cardinal Duke of the West, and there he saw how Nero turned the tides by just casting a spell. Using the abundance of vile energy, he began speaking a language Apollo had never heard before. The chant was like a prayer; this way of casting reminded Apollo of the gospels of the monastery before, but this time, this spell was simply too different to be predicted.

The flow of energy changes as if aiding protection for his spell, but before he can speak any further, an arrow penetrates the dome of blazing energy and hits Nero.

"What the!?" Apollo was shaken. A single arrow was able to bypass a defense that not even Harald's most powerful strike could reach through.

"Too late northern duke" a sinister smile form in his lips as he catch the arrow with his hand.

A dark foreboding envelopes Apollo as the spell Nero cast fully takes effect.
