I Can Transform Into Any Monster -
Chapter 97: First Target
Chapter 97: First Target
Thomas, of course, couldn’t keep pressing for answers because it was obvious the other party didn’t want to say anything.
He could only wear a suspicious expression, pretending to think about what they were going to do next.
They walked away from the open field, which unfortunately had no terminal as it was merely a mothership landing zone.
Surrounding them were many luxurious restaurants filled with imperial citizens who seemed to have just arrived on Planet Velos.
The field and the restaurants were connected by small bridges.
"Guys, let’s have breakfast first. My treat," Thomas suddenly said.
The others couldn’t help but cheer when they heard that.
The food in Velos 1’s restaurants wasn’t cheap—how could they not be happy to be treated?
They crossed one of the bridges, receiving curious looks from the imperial citizens who clearly weren’t used to the locals yet.
"Mom, are they monkeys who just turned into humans?" a little girl, around seven years old, asked her mother, a charming woman in her thirties with blonde hair.
She pointed at Luis and the others.
"What?" They were stunned upon hearing that.
Monkeys who just turned into humans?
What nonsense was that?
The thirty-something woman quickly covered her daughter’s mouth.
"Don’t say such nonsense," she said, quickly pulling her daughter away.
Even though she was an imperial, she seemed to dislike causing trouble.
However, a man about her age said to her, "Lady, they’re nothing. Don’t worry, the locals won’t dare go against us imperials, even if we call them monkeys."
"..."
"Hey, what did you say? Do you think we’re scared of you?" one of the students immediately shouted in protest.
If it wasn’t him, someone else would have done it.
They were young and hot-blooded—how could they stay calm when called monkeys?
"Ohhh? Are you challenging us?" the man asked casually.
"I know you’re all Awakener students, but..." The man then released a bit of his aura—an oppressive, overbearing pressure.
All the students were suppressed by his aura—except Luis and Thomas.
He was a Level D Awakener.
Anyone below Level D would struggle to withstand such an aura unless their spirit was particularly strong.
"Ehmm, Luis..." Thomas cleared his throat.
He clearly didn’t want to be oppressed like this, so he asked for help.
Even though the teachers had reminded them not to cause trouble, especially with the imperial citizens—who would stay silent if they were being trampled?
"It’s better if we just go," Luis replied.
He didn’t want to cause trouble with the imperials, so he refused.
If it were just local students like those who bullied their seniors earlier, it would’ve been a different matter.
That’s because conflicts with imperial citizens could attract attention from imperial soldiers.
And if that happened, it would be hard for him to kill the Level B Awakeners.
Thomas and the others felt a little uneasy because Luis wanted them to walk away.
Still, if he wasn’t willing, they couldn’t force him.
Thomas could only nod and continue walking, signaling the other students to follow.
"Hahahaha..." The man burst into loud laughter as he watched Luis and the others walk away after feeling his strength.
Although it was annoying, Luis was mature enough not to be offended by such provocation.
All the students now looked gloomy—no one seemed happy about being treated to breakfast anymore.
"Let’s go to this restaurant!" Thomas finally picked the place for breakfast.
It happened to be quieter than the others, which was ideal for their large group.
When they entered, they nearly filled the entire restaurant.
The waiters were locals, so they had no problem ordering food.
The restaurant quickly served their meals as the food had been pre-cooked.
Soon after sitting down, the students began eating.
Luis, who hadn’t had breakfast and had spent the morning making love before a three-hour journey, was naturally very hungry.
He ate so ravenously that one plate wasn’t enough for him.
"Luis, you look really hungry!" Thomas chuckled, sharing a table with him.
"Yeah, really hungry," Luis replied.
His mind was in chaos, wondering why he was that hungry.
If Thomas ever found out it was because of his mother, who knows how he’d react.
Maybe he’d laugh while crying.
"Mm..."
Luis was then surprised when he saw a middle-aged man with blond hair walking past the restaurant.
At first glance, there was nothing special about the man.
He only looked odd because he carried a long fishing rod.
However, Luis’s instincts could feel the man’s powerful aura—one that could only belong to a Level B Awakener, though perhaps an average one.
"Bro, bro!" A man in his thirties enthusiastically greeted the middle-aged man, who barely changed his expression.
It was the same man who had insulted them earlier.
"Why are you here?" the middle-aged man asked.
"Bro, you know how hard it is for me to level up on our planet. Too many rivals. I heard there are more opportunities here," the man replied.
"Hmph, you’re dreaming if you think it’ll be easier here. I’m afraid you’ll just become prey for the locals," the older man said.
"Come on, bro, how could I be killed by locals we’ve colonized? Do they even dare?" the man asked confidently.
"Idiot. Never underestimate the locals. Many stronger imperials have died at their hands. You’re nothing compared to some of the talented locals," the older man scolded.
However, the younger man didn’t seem to believe his words.
’Too bad it’s so crowded here,’ Luis thought.
To him, the older man was his target. But in a crowd like this, it wasn’t easy to act—even though he had the power to kill silently with his shadow ability.
"By the way, I’ve rented a flying bus—we’ll be able to travel easily. It should arrive soon," Thomas suddenly announced.
Hearing that, the other students were relieved. They were tired of having to walk or take public transport, mixing with strangers.
The imperials here were too irritating.
Back in Velos 33, with fewer imperials, things were more peaceful.
Luis didn’t pay much attention to Thomas’s words.
He was still watching the middle-aged man with the fishing rod.
To his surprise, the man suddenly opened a rift to the Apocalypse World, taking the younger man with him—likely his younger brother.
Luis was curious about what they were doing.
He couldn’t help but go to the restaurant’s toilet first before opening a rift to the Apocalypse World himself.
As far as he knew, Velos 1 in the Apocalypse World had long been reduced to ruins by monster attacks. He wanted to see if it was worse than Velos 33.
When he arrived, he realized it was far worse.
Exiting through the toilet, he emerged into an open space—because the restaurant he was in no longer existed, reduced to rubble.
The once-grand city barely had any standing buildings left. Most were destroyed, with reclaimed islands flipped or stacked on top of each other.
Even the mothership had been split in two.
With the city’s massive scale, the battle that brought it to ruins must have been terrifying.
Luis saw the middle-aged man and his younger brother not far away.
No one else was around. They instantly looked in his direction.
"Ehmm..." Luis cleared his throat upon seeing their shocked expressions.
"Brat, what are you doing here? You weren’t following me, were you?" the younger man asked.
He recognized Luis as one of the youths he had mocked earlier.
Seeing him appear out of nowhere naturally made him suspicious.
"Shut up!" the older man shouted and struck his brother on the shoulder, nearly making him fall.
"Bro?" the man looked confused, suddenly being scolded.
But he then noticed his brother’s eyes locked on Luis with a serious and wary gaze—like he was staring at a terrifying monster.
He had never seen him look like that.
What he didn’t know was that the older man genuinely sensed a tremendous threat from Luis.
It wasn’t just danger—it was the threat of death. His instincts told him that this local youth could truly kill him.
The worst part was that he could even feel a murderous intent from him, despite Luis looking calm.
"Young man, who are you? What are you doing here?" the older man asked cautiously.
He himself couldn’t believe he was being wary of a local youth.
Normally, he would have called them a brat or a kid—but not this time.
Asked by his target what he was doing there, Luis didn’t quite know how to answer.
And he felt no need to.
Whoosh!
He lunged directly at him.
Who would’ve thought the man would come to a place with no one around? Luis couldn’t waste time—he had to eliminate his target quickly.
"Brat, you?!" the younger man was shocked by Luis’s action.
He stepped forward and launched a ball of lightning from his hand toward Luis.
It was small but looked like it would chase its target and explode on contact.
With lightning powers, no wonder the man’s aura was oppressive.
However, Luis simply waved his hand—and the ball of lightning dispersed into the air.
"What?!" the man’s eyes widened in disbelief.
He might only be a Level D Awakener, but if he attacked a Level C, even they would have to put effort into blocking it. How could this young man dissolve it with just a wave of his hand?
"Idiot!" the middle-aged man cursed.
