I Can Transform Into Any Monster -
Chapter 77: One Action
Chapter 77: One Action
"Collect their Monster Cores," Thomas ordered the others.
As he said that, the wall surrounding the imperial academy across the way suddenly collapsed, struck by a massive turtle emerging from behind the building.
This one was enormous—its height reached over 15 meters.
For a turtle, whose body structure is naturally low, that was incredibly tall.
"That’s a Level 5," Thomas stated with absolute certainty.
The turtle glared at Thomas, clearly enraged, fully aware that he was the one who attacked it.
"Burn it!" Thomas shouted before releasing a large burst of flame toward the turtle.
However, the turtle suddenly withdrew into its shell.
Thomas’ flames tried to scorch the shell, but before they could burn it, they didn’t even leave a scratch.
Turtles were known for their defense, and fire-based attacks might not be the ideal choice against them.
To break a turtle’s shell might require an extremely powerful blow. Perhaps with fire, it would need to be some kind of explosion.
"Damn it, this won’t be easy," Thomas muttered.
"Thomas, let’s attack it together," said another student who was also at Level D. Among the students besides Thomas, two others were also at Level D.
Thomas nodded, but before they could act, Luis suddenly said, "Leave it to me."
As he said that, Luis casually formed a fireball in the palm of his hand.
It looked dark, but only because the fire was incredibly dense.
The students didn’t expect Luis to have fire abilities too.
Whoosh!
Luis nonchalantly threw the fireball, which moved extremely fast and landed on top of the turtle’s shell.
Boom!
It exploded as quickly as it traveled, turning into a massive inferno—so intense that Thomas’ flames seemed insignificant in comparison.
BANG!
Within the explosion, a loud cracking sound rang out.
"Akhhhh!" A hoarse scream echoed.
When the blast dissipated, all that remained at the turtle’s location was a large Monster Core. The turtle itself had vanished, reduced to a pile of dust that was carried away by the floodwaters.
Even Thomas was stunned by the scene.
His eyes were fixed on the Level 5 Monster Core, unblinking.
It was worth $200,000, but its price wasn’t what shocked him.
Luis might be Level C, but even Level C Awakeners shouldn’t be able to kill a Level 5 Monster that easily. Not to mention, this was a monster with extremely high defense, yet Luis took it down with a single, seemingly effortless attack.
"Luis, are you really at Level C, or are you already at Level B?" Thomas asked.
"Still at Level C," Luis replied.
"How is that possible?" Thomas looked incredulous. His own mother was a Level C fire Awakener, yet she wasn’t even close to Luis’ strength—and she was stronger than most Level C Awakeners.
Luis just smiled, offering no further explanation.
"Just take the Monster Core," he said, his gaze drifting toward the city’s outskirts.
From time to time, he could hear powerful roars coming from there.
For the sound to travel that far, it could only come from a Level 7 Monster.
Luis was immediately tempted to head out of the city. He was only interested in Level 7 Monsters. Even Level 6 didn’t appeal much to him—they only gave a bit more than 50K Battle Points.
Before he moved to leave, he suddenly saw three more turtles, the same size as the one he had just killed.
They had likely come in response to their comrade’s death.
This group of monsters clearly belonged to a tribe with high solidarity.
"One or three, no difference," Luis said, casually throwing three fireballs.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The three fireballs exploded simultaneously, merging into one massive explosion.
The shockwave nearly sent Thomas and the others flying, and the tremors rippled through the city.
"Thomas, I’m heading out," Luis said before gathering wind around his body.
Whoosh!
He used the wind to lift himself into the air.
Thomas and the others were more focused on him than on the explosions in front of them.
They struggled to believe that a fellow student, someone who awakened without a Spirit, could be this powerful.
Counting from the day he awakened, it should have only been a few days.
"Is luck just endlessly on his side?" one student wondered aloud.
"His progress is absurd," said another.
In no time, Luis vanished from their view—he had gone too far.
He deliberately chose to fly as high as possible to avoid being seen. He entered the massive clouds above the city’s edge.
Once there, he finally saw the large monsters outside the city, all of them turtles.
The floodwaters out there were even higher. Any human standing there would drown unless they were on something.
Luis saw seven turtles, each over 50 meters tall, and about twenty more that were 30 meters tall.
The 50-meter-tall turtles were clearly Level 7, but there were only seven of them—not ten, as Thomas had mentioned.
Luis also didn’t see any corpses of that size. Perhaps Thomas’ intel was exaggerated, but even so, seven Level 7 Monsters was no small number in human territory.
Luis saw about five people fighting the seven turtles.
One in particular caught his attention—an old man whose body was surrounded by lightning.
He moved wildly and swiftly, appearing in a new location every second.
His attacks didn’t seem powerful, as they didn’t cause massive damage, but they consistently injured the turtles.
That man was, of course, Mr. Joe, the elderly man who awakened late in life but had reached Level B.
His lightning ability was undoubtedly powerful. Luis thought his strength rivaled that of a Primordial Monster. In fact, he was leading the fight.
’I don’t think I can beat him at Level C,’ Luis thought.
His gaze shifted to the turtle that had suffered the most—it had multiple injuries, and parts of its shell had already been pierced.
Luis realized he couldn’t defeat all the turtles quickly. So, he needed to kill the one closest to death with a surprise attack.
Even if it caused outrage, he didn’t care—not from people who no longer posed a threat to him.
’Mm, that’ll work. That turtle is as good as dead.’
Luis quickly decided on the best way to strike.
Whoosh!
He dove downward, adding lightning to his body to boost his speed.
"Mr. Joe?"
Some Level B Awakeners thought it was Mr. Joe, but then noticed he was still down below—so who was the person suddenly appearing?
Luis was moving so fast they couldn’t make out his figure. Plus, his body was continuously glowing with lightning.
Even if they could see him clearly, they wouldn’t recognize him. Only Mr. Joe knew who he was.
Right before striking the turtle’s shell, Luis transformed into a massive shadow—larger than the turtle itself.
Whoosh!
His shadowy form landed on the turtle like a giant net, then slipped into the shell.
In shadow form, it was easy to enter even the tiniest crevice.
"Is that a monster?" someone wondered.
"I think it’s someone’s skill," another replied.
At that moment, the shadow enveloped the turtle’s flesh, but the turtle didn’t react—it was as if it had only been touched by the shadow of a tree.
But in the next instant, lightning and fire erupted from within the shadow, engulfing the turtle’s flesh.
"Akhhhh!" It screamed in agony as the attack struck every part of its body.
When it hit flesh, fire and lightning became devastating.
They burned and tore through the turtle’s body.
Despite its high level, its flesh was weak because a turtle’s defense was concentrated in its shell. In fact, its flesh was more vulnerable than most.
The turtle rolled in pain but couldn’t shake off the shadow covering its body.
The other turtles could only watch. They could try to attack, but this kind of threat wasn’t something they could counter.
BANG!
Suddenly, the turtle’s shell detached from its body—the connective tissues between its back and shell had been destroyed.
That was a fatal blow, and its vitality plummeted instantly, like air escaping a balloon.
Soon, it died—its body charred.
(Battle Point: 9,392,948 / 10,000,000)
Luis instantly gained over 500K Battle Points.
The Monster Core emerged from the turtle’s body on its own. It was enormous and radiated endless energy—it contained 20 million Energy Points.
Shua!
Luis’ shadowy form created a massive hand that grabbed the Monster Core, making it vanish.
There was no way he’d let something so valuable go.
His shadow form then quickly shrank back into his original body, who smiled faintly at the stunned Level B Awakeners.
"Luis," Mr. Joe said, visibly shocked.
"Mr. Joe, do you recognize him?"
"Ohhh, he’s the student who poisoned the imperial students." Mr. Joe hadn’t explained who Luis was, and someone had recognized him.
"What? Isn’t he only at Level D? How can he be so strong?"
The others were surprised and stunned.
"Hey, this boy has taken our target."
One of them then realized what Luis had done.
"Damn it... Why didn’t I realize that sooner?" The others cursed angrily.
However, Luis simply smiled at them all.
