Chapter 72: Kill

"Let’s wait," said Madam Sofia with a faint smile.

Not everyone had left the cruise ship yet.

Vexa was one of them, and the other was Velika Aris. Even Paul hadn’t left. He was still lying on the lower deck.

Luis really wanted to see Walker’s expression, but to his surprise, the one who came was just a small bird, which dropped a Dimensional Artifact in front of them.

Buzz!

Madam Sofia looked annoyed. Flames emerged from her hand and burned the bird to ashes.

"This is an impolite way," she said as she picked up the Dimensional Artifact.

With a simple wave of her hand, her sports car emerged from the Dimensional Artifact.

"He must be too ashamed and afraid to show his face in front of us," said Luis.

"Hmm..."

Madam Sofia didn’t refute it.

"But honestly, I’m pretty hungry now. How about we have dinner first?" she asked.

"Of course!" Luis didn’t mind.

After that, they leapt off the cruise ship.

They walked onto the road, and Madam Sofia summoned her car from the Dimensional Artifact.

This time, she sat in the driver’s seat.

Naturally, Luis got into the passenger seat, since she had decided to drive herself.

Vrom!

The car sped toward the city center.

Though it was already late, the city was still bustling with many restaurants open.

Madam Sofia then stopped her car at an extremely luxurious restaurant, so expensive that only a few customers were present.

Luis simply followed her, but something seemed to have changed. He no longer felt like her assistant.

It was as if he now had the confidence to walk beside her as an equal partner.

Even when the waiter asked what he wanted to order, he answered with his back straight.

Anyone who saw them might think they were on a date.

Madam Sofia only smiled at his confidence, not making any comment—perhaps because all she wanted was a quick dinner.

This restaurant served steak made from high-quality meat raised through special methods.

This was Luis’s first time tasting it, and he was completely amazed by the juicy flavor.

He never thought grilled meat could provide such a sensation.

"Madam, are we returning to Velos 33 tonight?" Luis asked.

"Yes, I still have a lot to do tomorrow," Madam Sofia replied.

Luis nodded lightly and said, "Just call me if you need help..."

"Of course, I’ll call you if I need help. Where else could I get help from someone strong like you? Zarion wouldn’t bother helping me with my personal matters," Madam Sofia said with a chuckle.

Luis could see in her eyes that she was pleased with him.

"Oh..." Then he was startled as he looked out the restaurant window.

He saw a rather large flying car rise into the air.

What caught his attention was that inside the car were the imperial academy students—including Walker.

He just didn’t see Velika Aris. The girl seemed to still be on the cruise ship, either frustrated or deep in thought.

"Luis, you look like you really want to kill them," said Madam Sofia, as if sensing his intent.

How could Luis not be interested? There were four C-Level Awakeners among them, which meant around 1.2 million Battle Points by initial estimate, though possibly more than 1.3 million.

But the main reason was that he disliked them, and Walker needed to die. Luis didn’t want him saying anything odd about him and Madam Sofia to Thomas.

That would be too embarrassing.

"Their flying car isn’t particularly fast. It won’t be hard to catch up," added Madam Sofia.

She didn’t seem to mind if he did it.

In fact, she placed her car keys on the table.

Luis then stood up.

"No need for a car. I can catch them," he said.

He stepped out of the restaurant and leapt onto a building rooftop.

His eyes locked onto the imperial students’ car as it moved away, and his body was soon surrounded by wind.

Flying—he just realized that he could fly with his wind power.

A Tier 1 Wind Spirit could let its user fly if skilled—so how could a Tier 3 Wind Spirit not be capable of it?

Whoosh!

He began gliding through the air, and his speed while merging with the wind was nearly as fast as lightning falling from the sky. With such speed, there were very few things he couldn’t catch.

Buzz!

He then transformed into a massive shadow, growing faster despite his enormous body.

Shadows have no weight—of course, they’re incredibly light.

He crossed that long distance in the blink of an eye.

"What is that?" the imperial students inside the car were shocked to see a massive darkness chasing after them at incredible speed.

As they stared at the darkness, a large hand suddenly emerged from it, making it clear that it was a shadow.

The large hand reached out for their car.

"It’s Luis..." one of the students quickly realized, detecting the aura’s similarity to Luis’s shadow power.

"What’s he doing?"

"He seems to be attacking us."

"Damn, does he want to kill us? I knew this guy was bad news—he really hates us imperial students."

"..."

Just as they said that, the giant shadow hand finally grabbed their car.

Rumble!

The shadow hand then released endless lightning from its palm, directly striking the interior of the car.

"Ahhhhh..." The students could no longer discuss anything.

They started screaming uncontrollably.

Luis didn’t hold back in his attack. He wasn’t even interested in collecting their hearts, since he already had plenty of wealth in the form of Monster Cores.

His fierce lightning, powered by a Tier 3 Spirit and supported by his body’s strength, badly injured even Riven—who was stronger than the average C-Level Awakener.

His body began to disintegrate bit by bit.

As for Walker, he died early on due to his weak defenses as a Beast Master.

BANG!

In the end, the car exploded mid-air in a massive blast—flying cars held tremendous energy.

Luis, in his shadow form, remained completely unaffected.

He dove downward before transforming into a bird and flew back toward the city center.

(Battle Point: 8,832,948 / 10,000,000)

To Luis’s surprise, it increased exactly by 1.3 million Battle Points—not a bit more or less.

’Less than 1.2 million left,’ thought Luis.

He was getting closer to B-Level. While C-Level was already considered high-ranking among Awakeners, it was still inferior to B-Level. Those were much rarer, but far more feared and respected.

As he neared the restaurant where Madam Sofia was, Luis turned back into a human, dropping into a narrow alley.

This was a real murder he had committed. If discovered, the empire might send the military to hunt him—but he figured it wouldn’t be easy to find evidence, since everything happened in the sky.

In his dark shadow form, no one saw his movement.

From below, people only saw a car explode in mid-air.

Back at the restaurant, he found Madam Sofia still eating.

"Is it done?" she asked casually.

His speed didn’t surprise her. She knew well how powerful he was. Killing a group of similarly-leveled Awakeners wasn’t difficult for him.

Besides, she also knew he now possessed the Giant Shadow Body, though she didn’t know how he gathered the materials so quickly after obtaining the formula.

"Yes. I couldn’t rest easy while they were alive, since they were targeting me after the incident at the academy," Luis replied.

"They only have themselves to blame—for being weak and still trying to bully others," said Madam Sofia. "Hmph, that boy Walker—he’s just as shameless as his father. As a talented Awakener from Velos, he shamelessly joined the empire to colonize Velos. Honestly, death isn’t enough to punish him. He deserved eternal torment."

"Haha, unfortunately, torturing someone is a lot more trouble than just killing them," Luis replied with a laugh.

"Anyway, Zarion would probably be happy with what you did. If he knew, he’d give you a reward—but I don’t think you want him to know," said Madam Sofia.

"Mm, yes. It’s better if he doesn’t." Luis really thought that way.

It wasn’t that there was a problem, but he didn’t want to be too tied to Zarion Vex. That man was also an enemy of Velos—he just happened to also hold a grudge against the empire.

"I’ve already paid for the meal. Let’s go home now. Staying too late isn’t good. Sometimes there are sky pirates over the ocean at midnight." Madam Sofia then stood up, twirling her car keys around her index finger.

Luis nodded and walked out of the restaurant with her.

They got into the car, which drove briefly down the road before lifting into the sky and flying back toward Velos 33.

"Ahhh..." Madam Sofia looked exhausted from all her activities today.

She lowered her chair back until it was almost flat, so that her body, which had been sitting upright, was now lying down.

She didn’t look sleepy because she had slept for a long time earlier that afternoon.

As she lay there, she casually crossed her long legs, which were visible from the slit in her dress.
