Chapter 64: A Way

"160 million!"

Liam drastically raised the price, yet someone else also placed a high bid.

However, Liam seemed to have a vast supply of Monster Cores. He casually raised the price again.

"190 million!"

That figure was enough to silence the previous bidder.

However, the female auctioneer still didn’t seem satisfied with the current price.

She didn’t rush to hand over the Star Eye to Liam.

"Is there anyone else who wants to bid higher? I’m sure, even if this item is kept in storage, someday someone extremely wealthy will buy it," she said with a chuckle.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t that easy to get people to part with that many Monster Cores.

"Miss, hurry up and give me the Star Eye," Liam said with an impatient tone.

It seemed he planned to leave right after that.

"Luis, if you have something valuable, you can ask if the auctioneer would accept it," Madam Sofia suddenly said, surprising Luis.

"Do they accept bartering?" he asked.

"Yes, sometimes, if it’s something truly valuable. They will consider it equivalent to the item’s starting price during auction," Madam Sofia replied.

Hearing this, Luis became interested in offering the two Tier A Level 2 Weapons he had obtained from Isadonna.

Both were extraordinary weapons, and by auction standards, they should be worth at least 40 million each, totaling 80 million.

80 million plus the 130 million Monster Cores he had would bring the total to 210 million.

Of course, it was risky, but when else would he have the chance to obtain the Star Eye?

He doubted he could rob Liam if he left right away.

Once Liam boarded his flying vehicle, he could shoot off into the distance. At that point, not even a true Primordial Monster would be able to catch him.

Luis took a deep breath, making this risky decision, hoping the auction house wouldn’t recognize the weapons as Isadonna’s.

"I have two Tier A Level 2 Weapons plus 130 million Monster Cores. What do you think?" he said loudly, shocking the crowd as they all turned to stare sharply at him.

Even the imperial students behind him couldn’t help but be surprised. Among them, only Riven had Tier A Level 2 Weapons. The rest only used Tier B Weapons.

The female auctioneer looked at Luis, chuckled, and replied, "That’s acceptable, but I’d like to see the form of those weapons."

"A knife and a spear. In my opinion, they’re no worse than the weapons you auctioned, so I hope they’re valued well," Luis replied.

80 million was the base value, but of course, he hoped the weapons would be appraised higher.

After hearing his words, the female auctioneer nodded.

"Your offer is accepted, but their total value with your Monster Cores is just 210 million," she said, making Luis frown a little.

"The current price is 210 million. Anyone want to raise it?" she asked everyone, though her eyes were fixed on Liam, who suddenly wore a grim expression.

’Has he run out of Monster Cores?’ Luis wondered.

Naturally, he was thrilled by this.

"Alright, you win!" the female auctioneer finally declared to Luis, announcing his victory as Liam said nothing more.

It seemed Liam didn’t have another Tier A Level 2 Weapon to offer.

Luis sighed in relief, glad to be the winner.

A servant came forward to hand over the Star Eye to him and took his 130 million Monster Cores and the two Tier A Level 2 Weapons.

None of it caused any commotion.

Afterward, the servant delivered them to the female auctioneer.

She inspected the dimensional artifact containing the two weapons, then nodded and ordered one of the robots accompanying her on stage to take the artifact.

She looked at Luis for a moment before continuing with the next items.

Luis wasn’t interested in them, even though they were also extremely valuable—they simply didn’t suit his needs. He was only waiting for the Dual Power Mirror that Madam Sofia was targeting.

"Looks like you’re very rich, Luis. But you should be careful—you’ve been marked by many people as someone carrying great treasure. Considering you had two Tier A Level 2 Weapons, they must assume you’ve had a big stroke of luck..." Madam Sofia said to Luis while they waited for the mirror.

Luis nodded his head, not truly panicking, as he wouldn’t be easy to bring down.

He was lost in thought, planning to build the Giant Shadow Body.

’Now, I just need the heart of a Primordial Shadow Wolf,’ he thought.

That monster’s heart was what he needed, along with other materials from shadow-type monsters. The difference was, the others weren’t hearts but things like skin, wings, and claws.

Taking those from his own body posed no risk. Only the heart couldn’t be extracted from himself.

Of course, the hard part was finding that Primordial Shadow Wolf.

’Wait, what about that method?’

Suddenly, an idea came to him—something he had never thought of before.

The Dual Power Mirror—Madam Sofia had said it could store our shadow, and the shadow in the mirror could unleash our power.

If the shadow could unleash power, could it also extract its organs?

After all, the shadow just couldn’t leave the mirror, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t pull something out.

It just wasn’t useful for melee fighters since their shadows couldn’t attack from within the mirror.

But throwing out a single organ? That shouldn’t be hard.

Luis wouldn’t mind retrieving it himself inside the mirror.

Surely, the mirror didn’t distinguish between human and monster.

They were both living, moving beings.

Luis believed this plan could work, and he grew excited.

"Madam, may I borrow your Dual Power Mirror later?" Luis asked Madam Sofia.

She was slightly surprised by his words and looked at him strangely.

"Of course, you can borrow it—but we need to wait until I actually obtain it," she replied.

She gave him a curious look but didn’t ask why he wanted to borrow the mirror.

"If you can’t get it, I’ll help you rob the winner," Luis said excitedly, beginning to consider the mirror a must-have target.

He grew impatient waiting for the mirror to be auctioned.

Madam Sofia chuckled when she heard he’d be willing to help her rob someone for it.

"I don’t usually resort to robbery," she said. "But I think I have a good chance of winning. Besides, I also have two Tier A Level 2 Weapons. I can offer one of them."

Luis felt more at ease hearing that.

What he didn’t expect was for the mirror to be the final item, even though it wasn’t the most expensive in starting price.

Clearly, it was heavily sought after by many long-range fighters.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the female auctioneer said.

"I’ve received the most private messages about this mirror, so I hope you’ll offer high prices..." she chuckled.

"100 million!" someone immediately shouted.

"I want it too—120 million!" Paul suddenly bid.

But just because he was strong didn’t mean people were afraid.

"150 million!" Madam Sofia beside Luis also called out, though her voice was softer.

Naturally, the auctioneer could still hear her.

But moments later, someone else raised the bid to 200 million.

To Luis’s surprise, Madam Sofia raised it again to 250 million.

Apparently, an extra 50 million was a minor increase for her—but he guessed it might be the decisive bid.

When the price hit 250 million, even Paul stopped bidding.

He shook his head, seemingly lamenting his lack of Monster Cores.

"260 million!" someone else raised the bid again.

It was a solitary man from the empire, still in his twenties.

"270 million," Madam Sofia countered.

"280 million!" the imperial man raised it even higher.

"300 million!" Madam Sofia now seemed annoyed, and her tone turned unpleasant.

As she grew frustrated with the man, quite a few men glared at him threateningly—clearly, they wanted to defend Madam Sofia.

Even many men from the empire did the same, making the bidder visibly uncomfortable.

Still, he clearly wanted the mirror badly.

"280 million plus one Tier A Level 2 Weapon," he said, ignoring the glares.

Madam Sofia frowned.

"Same—one Tier A Level 2 Weapon," she responded, offering hers too.

Then, she looked at him.

"I still have one more I can add," she told him.

The female auctioneer became very excited upon hearing that, but the man seemed to have reached his limit.

He stood up and walked away.

After that, no one else placed a bid.

The auctioneer looked slightly disappointed but ultimately handed the mirror over to Madam Sofia.

"Madam, can I borrow it now?" Luis asked in a soft voice.

Madam Sofia hadn’t expected him to be so eager, and she grew more curious.

If she hadn’t been familiar with him, she might have suspected he planned to steal it.

"Where do you want to take it?" asked Madam Sofia.

"To the bathroom," replied Luis.

Madam Sofia "... "

For a moment, the woman was silent, but finally she nodded. She sent the mirror to his Dimension Artifact quietly without anyone seeing it.

"Please be careful," she said.

"Don’t worry!" Luis nodded.

After that, he hurried to the bathroom as if he couldn’t wait any longer.

The auction house naturally provided bathrooms for its guests.
