I can no longer hide the fact that I’m secretly dating a senior -
Chapter 5 - Girlfriend Rulebook
Chapter 05: Girlfriend Rulebook
Although Zheng Wanqing had already said it many times—that Ye Fei was not allowed to call her “wife”— during the past three years of secretly dating.
Aside from agreeing on keeping the relationship hidden, the two of them had never seen eye to eye on anything else.
Ye Fei never listened to her.
Every single time, Zheng Wanqing couldn’t win an argument with Ye Fei.
In the end, she always surrendered.
Take her first kiss—and that other thing, for example.
She had firmly said that she couldn’t accept that before marriage.
But what happened?
Didn’t she still give in obediently?
So when it came to something as small as calling her “wife,” Ye Fei was even more shamelessly bold.
Zheng Wanqing said helplessly, “Ye Fei, other girls’ boyfriends spoil them like queens.”
“But you?”
“You’re useless at everything… except trash talk.”
“Can’t you just pamper me like those other boyfriends do?”
“Even if you’re younger than me, you could at least let me win sometimes, right?”
Ye Fei placed both hands on Zheng Wanqing’s shoulders and said, “Repeat what you just said.”
Zheng Wanqing smiled and said, “I was wrong.”
“What’s Rule 6, Clause 9 of the Girlfriend Rulebook? Read it to me.”
Zheng Wanqing blushed. “No way…”
“Read it.”
“…Fine.”
Zheng Wanqing said: “Girlfriend Rulebook, Rule 6, Clause 9: Except for matters involving hiding the relationship, Party B (Zheng Wanqing) must unconditionally follow the instructions of Party A (Ye Fei), without objection.”
“All rights of interpretation belong to Party A (Ye Fei).”
“Party A also reserves the right to revise any clause in the Girlfriend Rulebook at any time.”
Back when Ye Fei and Zheng Wanqing first got together, it was she who chased after him.
But her father had strictly forbidden her from dating during school.
To make Ye Fei agree to keep their relationship private and date her in secret—
Zheng Wanqing signed a bunch of “unequal treaties.”¹
The deadliest one of them was the Girlfriend Rulebook.
But what Zheng Wanqing didn’t know was—
Hiding the relationship wasn’t just her idea.
To activate his system, Ye Fei also needed to keep the relationship hidden for three years.
Yet Ye Fei never mentioned this, and instead pretended to be strongly opposed to secrecy, saying things like:
“I finally got to date someone. Why should I have to sneak around?”
In the end, it was Zheng Wanqing who voluntarily signed those unequal clauses, just to convince him not to go public.
How should we put this?
In this relationship, Zheng Wanqing was really like a little white rabbi, while Ye Fei was the big bad wolf.
And the little white rabbit could never beat the big, bad wolf.
One was pure and simple, the other cunning and devious.
Even though Zheng Wanqing was Ye Fei’s senior and two years older than him— When it came to emotional maturity, Ye Fei might not be any less capable than her.
“Alright, quit messing around,” Zheng Wanqing said. “I still have a report to finish. I should head back to campus. Let’s meet tomorrow.”
Just as she got up to leave, Ye Fei cleared his throat twice.
“Wife, aren’t you forgetting something?”
Zheng Wanqing blinked, looking a little puzzled.
Forget what?
I don’t think I forgot anything.
Ye Fei pointed at his cheek and said, “Today’s—you haven’t given it yet.”
Zheng Wanqing blushed. “The photo scandal still hasn’t died down. How about next time, okay?”
“Nope.”
Zheng Wanqing said, “Alright, just this once.”
She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, then hurriedly ran out of the private booth.
After that, she headed back to school.
Ye Fei stayed in the booth for a few more minutes, then cautiously exited the café.
The moment he walked out, Xu Li—the part-time waitress working at the coffee shop—suddenly seemed to realize something.
Footnotes:
- 不平等条约 (bù píngděng tiáoyuē)– “Unequal treaties.” Originally used in historical contexts referring to unfair diplomatic agreements imposed on weaker nations, this phrase is now humorously used to describe one-sided agreements in relationships where one party gives up way more than the other.
