That afternoon, since there weren’t any major classes scheduled, everyone just stayed in the dorm.

Also, they’d drunk quite a bit at lunch.

Even now, their heads were still spinning.

On top of that were the photos posted on the campus Tieba forum.

As the heat continued to build, so did the comments and follow-up replies.

The exposure grew higher and higher. In less than a single day, it had already gone viral—everyone knew.

At 3:30 p.m., Ye Fei claimed he was going to the library.

In reality, he went to a café outside campus to secretly meet with Zheng Wanqing.

The two of them had never interacted openly on campus. Not even a greeting in passing—just to avoid their relationship getting exposed.

If Zheng Wanqing’s father found out that she had ignored his warnings and was secretly dating Ye Fei— There’s no way he’d let her off the hook.

If things went badly, he might even assign someone to monitor her 24/7.

Then, even trying to see Ye Fei would become nearly impossible.

Inside a private booth in the coffee shop, Zheng Wanqing said to Ye Fei: “Ye Fei, what do we do now?”

Ye Fei asked, “Do what?”

“The post on the campus forum. It’s already gone viral.” Zheng Wanqing answered.

She added, “I bet my dad knows by now.”

As soon as she said that—less than thirty seconds later—her phone lit up with a text message.

It was from her father.

He told her not to stay in the dorm tonight.

To come home.

He said he had something to talk to her about.

Great. Just great.

Trouble doesn’t come alone.

She never imagined her dad would find out so fast.

Zheng Wanqing sighed and said, “Sigh… After all these years of secretly dating, we still got exposed in the end.”

“Just as they say, paper can’t wrap fire forever.”¹

Ye Fei held Zheng Wanqing’s soft, slender hand. “Don’t worry, wifey. I promise no one’s gonna know we’re together.”

“If your dad asks, just deny everything.”

“They only caught a photo of someone who might be you.”

“Besides, it was pitch black last night. As long as you don’t out yourself, no one can say with 100% certainty that the girl in the photo is you.”

Zheng Wanqing replied, half-convinced: “Will that work?”

She didn’t think it would.

It might work with others.

But not with her dad.

He raised her. Even if she turned to ash, he’d recognize her.

“Hey!”

Zheng Wanqing pinched her little pink fist and lightly punched Ye Fei’s chest: “Why are you calling me ‘wifey’ again? Didn’t we agree—no more calling me that?”

“What’s the problem? There’s no one else here.” Ye Fei kept holding her hand and ignored her protest. “Wife, wife, wife.”

Zheng Wanqing let out a huff. “Ugh, you’re unbelievable. Yesterday was my birthday, and you got all smug. We agreed to celebrate simply. But you insisted on taking me to a hotel…”

“Now look what happened. We got caught.”

Ye Fei replied, “How is that my fault?”

“To avoid getting exposed, we’ve been keeping our distance at school. No interactions at all.”

“And we don’t get many chances to meet privately, either.”

“Zheng Wanqing, do you want your husband to be emotionally starved to death?”

Zheng Wanqing blushed.

Ye Fei, can you please be a little more serious?

What kind of nonsense is that?!

“Fine, whatever. I can’t deal with you. Just this once—but don’t do it again.”

“And stop calling me ‘wife.’ What if someone overhears? How would we explain it?”
