Layla was first to react to the news of Serena breaking the engagement with her brother.

She was so fuming with anger, She was so pissed off that she even lashed out with not so pretty words towards Serena in her comically childhood voice.

But then quickly realised that Max can turn blind eye to most things but even single words against that woman make him go scorch earth. He can tear face off with anyone.

He is still not talking with their mom just because mom said Serena is not right for him. That one sentence was enough for him to say mom is dead to him.

It’s been 8 years, mom tried each and every way to ask for his forgiveness, make him talk to her yet he did not even acknowledge her presence much less forgive her and talk to her.

Hence why the moment she wanted to call Serena bitch, her heart became cold as she quickly try to save it.

Thankfully Ashley realised her blunder and quickly spoke up citing her dissatisfaction in her soft mature tone but still being in limit, restricting it just to questioning her not saying anything bad about it fearing she would also end up like their mother.

Layla seeing Ashley come to rescue gave her a grateful look, thankful for her help.

Tess was not aware of his quirk, so she just excitedly spoke of the first thing that came to her mind in a loud excited voice prompting a pitiful look from Winchester sisters.

However there was the forth chilling voice also rang after them taking everyone aback as they quickly turned their head towards entrance.

Serena walked in white black office suit, with grace like a swan carrying her dignity like a crown, looking like a queen that she is.

Her void black hair was open flowing with air as her icy blue eyes carried an aura that make anyone feel small and insecure.

This trio of women, though they do not like this woman they can’t disagree with the fact that

Max, who was just feeling happy he came up with such a best excuse to avoid Tess, saw Serena coming in from the entrance making his heart skip a beat.

Serena is already too beautiful obviously so as she is a main heroine but now she too wore light make up.

But unlike Tess it was not chaotic, It made this cold beauty even more beautiful than what previously thought was possible.

Now he can see why someone can be licking dog of hers, why the protagonist can bear her cold personality and disrespect from her because it’s all worth it.

Though he considers her as beautiful, he has currently no thought of going after her because she is too much trouble to be handle, She not only is clean freak but a control freak

He can’t have her and go around creating a harem, those women would vanish overnight.

She did not look like someone who can do that but keep in mind she is also the same woman who threw Rickie, the protagonist of this novel casually, with the flip of her hand.

There is no way he can have her and open a harem, In a plot she did exactly this but due to plot and those woman’s luck they all survive.

His stupor however did not stop him from responding to her quickly.

He took the invitation letter from her as he asked her in surprise as he did not thought she would come.

Serena just hummed and stood in a place, creating an awkward silence.

However her heart was not as calm as it looked on the surface, it was chaotic.

She did not know what she came here,

She was in an office dealing with paperwork when messaged her asking if she had an extra invitation card for Kingswell family’s auction.

If she has it, he asked for it if she was not gonna use it.

If it was any other time she would have just ignored this message as it is his common thing to use the excuse of asking for something from her to talk.

But this time it felt different as he looked like he wanted it, And she also knows that from ears and eyes spread across the city that Ashley took away his invitation.

So she was willing to give her an invitation letter, as she has two, One from the Forst family and one from her personal business.

So there is nothing wrong with giving it to him, which normally she just ask her secretary to send someone to deliver to him

But today she did not know why she came here in person. She even wore make-up for the first time in her life.

Why did she do that? For the first time in her life she has no idea about why she did something.

But then even more weird things happen, When she saw Tess, the girl from the Lionheart family standing close to Max, she hated it.

A surge of rage took over her as her stomach turned and twisted, making her feel sick, her heart becoming heavy.

As she wanted nothing but to separate those two, her head flooded with lots of violent thoughts towards that little shit.

Heck she was so lost in thinking about those two, she did not even notice the makeup of Tess, all her attention was on how little space in between those two.

’Is he not going to come and talk to me?’

Serena had this sudden thought not understanding why he was not coming to talk to her.

He always comes to her, surrounds her as he tries to talk non-stop with her.

But today he just took the letter and stood there, leaving her alone.

Is he trying to get revenge? Is he mad at her? Didn’t he say they can still be friends? So why is he ignoring her now? Is he trying to make her jealous?

Questions like these flooded her mind as she looked at Max who was inspecting the letter.

Oh by the way it’s only been 5 seconds she came here, standing in front of him.
