Chapter 68: Invading Ogre Territory
Chapter 68: Invading Ogre Territory
The next morning, a loud horn blasted through the Forest—the Elves were ready for war! As the first light of dawn spilled over the trees, painting the leaves gold, nearly 40,000 elven fighters gathered fast.
The thick woods hummed with life, filled with the slim, graceful shapes of Elves. Archers slung their smooth, shiny bows over their shoulders, their fingers brushing the feathers of arrows in their quivers.
Huntresses climbed onto their magical panthers, the big cats’ fur soft and black, their silver moon blades catching the sun with a cold gleam.
The Elves looked beautiful, elegant, noble, and pure, their eyes bright with fire. A heavy, dangerous feeling spread quickly through their ranks, like a storm brewing.
Then Renjiro rode in on Sylphie, the Unicorn Leader. Her white coat glowed in the morning light, and every Elf turned to stare, their faces full of respect. His voice boomed through the trees, strong and clear.
"For too long, the ogre tribe in the west has stood in our way. We’ve kept the peace, but they’ve blocked us from owning this Forest!" He leaned forward, his words growing hot.
"So we’ll smash them with war! When it’s done, we’ll rule this place! It’ll be our new home—our kingdom’s ground! No race will step foot here without our say—not even the big human empire next door will dare break our rules!"
"Woo!!" Sylphie spread her snowy wings wide, a rush of holy magic pouring out. It wrapped around Renjiro, making him look grand and mighty atop her back. "This Forest is ours, Elves!"
Every Elf lifted their weapons high—bows, blades, spears—and shouted loud. "Roar!!" The panthers under the huntresses growled deep, their tails flicking, just as loyal to the Elf King as the riders on their backs.
Right then, Elaria and the three commanders, Lorien, Selena, and Lirael, rode up on white unicorns, their hooves tapping the dirt soft.
Their coming meant one thing: war was starting. "Move out!!" Renjiro yelled, and the nearly 40,000-strong army marched west toward the ogre tribe, their steps steady and sure.
Elaria rode close to Renjiro, her unicorn’s mane fluttering in the wind. Her voice came out quiet, a little shaky.
"Your Majesty, we’ve pulled every fighter from the territory. If the Mercenary Group from the city sneaks in, the young elves and unicorns back home won’t stand a chance." She bit her lip, thinking of the group’s leader—a Tenth circle warrior called Dragon Slayer, tough and scary.
Renjiro shook his head, calm as ever. "Don’t worry. The huntresses’ summoned owls are keeping watch. Those mercenaries can’t slip into our land. If they try, Sylphie will zip me back, and I’ll handle them myself." To him, a Tenth circle Dragon Slayer was nothing special.
With his artifact dagger in hand, a Dragon Slayer was just a small fry. Even a God Slayer would drop to their knees in front of his haxed artifact.
"Elaria, trust me," Sylphie piped up, her voice high and bright like a little girl’s. "I’m super fast! I’ll get His Majesty back to the territory quick as a blink!"
Elaria smiled, her worry fading. "I forgot we’ve got Sylphie!"
Sylphie bounced her head, her horn glinting. "You can’t forget me again, Elaria! I’m Tenth circle now—really strong! I’ll keep His Majesty and all the Elves safe!"
"Got it, I’ll keep you in mind!" Elaria laughed, hiding her grin with her hand. She hadn’t thought of Sylphie before, but with the Unicorn Leader’s speed, Renjiro could race home in no time.
She also knew a Tenth circle Dragon Slayer facing him would end up as a sheep, thanks to that tricky artifact.
As the elven army got closer to the western Forest, ogres hunting in the woods spotted them. The big, ugly creatures were dragging dead magical beasts, their hands sticky with blood. "It’s the Elves!" one grunted, dropping a deer with a thud.
"Something’s wrong," another growled, his yellow eyes squinting. "Why so many? Leader said the Elves were almost gone!"
"The elf army’s coming, run, tell the Leader!" Dozens of ogres threw down their kills, the meat hitting the dirt, and ran off in a panic, their heavy feet shaking the ground. The Elven army showing up could only mean war, they’d brought it right to the ogre tribe.
Huntress scouts saw the ogres fleeing, their sharp eyes catching every move, but didn’t chase. Instead, they rode back fast on their panthers, the wind whipping their hair. "Your Majesty, the ogres know we’re here!" one called, her voice sharp.
"I know," Renjiro said, his eyes fixed on a tall mountain ahead. It loomed big, hundreds of meters high, one of the few big peaks in the Forest.
That was the ogre tribe’s territory. White smoke curled up from the top, probably from fires cooking their food, and the air carried a faint smell of burnt meat.
He gave his orders, calm and clear. "Huntresses up front, archers behind—keep going!"
"Yes, Your Majesty!" The elven army moved through the thick woods, neat and quiet. Every magical beast in their way, deer, wolves, even big bears, ran off scared, their paws rustling the leaves.
At the mountain’s top stood a palace, rough and huge. It was made of giant stones, stacked messy, not pretty like the Elf King’s halls but strong in a wild, ugly way.
Inside the big hall, on a throne carved from one massive rock, sat the Giant—Leader of the ogre tribe. He was over ten meters tall, his skin tough and brown like old leather.
Giants and Giant Golems were kin, but different. Giants were smaller, with real flesh bodies that looked like giant humans. Giant Golems were stone, strange and hard, their rocky skin glinting in the light.
They thought differently too. Giants prayed to old Titans, believing they had Titan blood that made them big so big.
Giant Golems loved the Earth Goddess, pulling magic from the dirt—break them, and they’d grow back if their main core stayed safe.
An ogre elder stumbled into the hall, his hair wild, his knees hitting the stone floor hard. "Great Leader!" he shouted, his voice cracking. "The Elves from are here—they’ve invaded! They’ve brought their army to our territory!"
The Giant jumped up, his roar shaking the walls. "Those stuck-up Elves! They dare Invade my territory? Do they think they can challenge me, the Great Giant?"
"No, Great Leader!" the elder squeaked, trembling.
"We got it wrong! The Elves are crazy strong. Their numbers in Tens of thousands of them, led by that Elf King, are all around our land!"
