I Became My Elf King Character In A Game-Like World -
Chapter 66: Hunters Hall
Chapter 66: Hunters Hall
Renjiro rubbed his forehead, a low groan rumbling in his chest. He felt buried under a heap of jobs—four quests, all undone, staring him down like angry shadows.
First, he had to clear out the kobolds in the Ash Mountains, grab their gold mine, and set up a small camp to unlock a new elf fighter called an Ancient Treant. Next, he needed to crush the ogre tribe under the Ogre tribe leader, and take over the whole Forest to get a new elf building called a Elder Tree Of Wisdom.
Then, he had to start the Elf Kingdom in one month for a chance at some gear. And now, he had to scrape together five million gold coins to make the Eternal Tree stronger—or it would sleep forever, and he’d lose a rank.
’Four big hills to climb,’ he thought, ’and I’ve barely started walking.’
He turned to the Eternal Tree, its old, twisted face watching him with hope. The bark looked rough and gray, like wrinkled skin, and its branches swayed slow in the soft wind.
"When I build this kingdom, I’ll make a garden just for the treants," he said, his voice quiet but strong. "You can move around there, stretch your branches all you want."
The Tree Spirit’s scratchy voice came out warm, full of thanks. "Heheh, you’re a kind one. I’ll count the days ’til I can roam!"
He gave a small nod, then walked to a nearby clearing. The grass felt cool and damp under his boots, tickling his ankles, and the air smelled fresh, like rain might come soon. He spoke inside his head, "System, build a Hunter’s Hall right here."
[Command received. Constructing Hunter’s Hall.]
A warm buzz started in his chest, then poured out like water. The air sparkled, and a building grew up fast—pretty and elf-like, with tall, thin walls and a roof curved like a leaf.
It looked like a tiny palace sitting in the grass. Renjiro squinted, stepping closer, his boots crunching on little twigs. "This is the Hunter’s Hall?"
He pushed the door with both hands, but it stayed shut, heavy as a rock.
[User strength is too low. Entry needs Eleventh circle. Inside locked. Current use: Boost troops only.]
"Eleventh circle, huh?" he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. His fingers felt the sweat there—he was only at the late eighth-circle, and that felt far off. Something waited inside, but he pushed the idea away—too much to do before chasing that.
Words glowed on the door, faint and yellow, showing how to boost his fighters. There were two kinds: power boosts to hit harder, or defense boosts to stay safe.
He could pick three groups: elven archers with their long bows, huntresses riding fast panthers, or ballistae that shot big arrows. No ridge giants showed up—maybe because they came free from the system’s welcome gift, not his own call.
He looked closer and saw levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert, and master. Each level made troops stronger—20% more, 50% more, double, triple, then ten times stronger. Big jumps.
But the gold costs made his belly hurt. Beginner was easy at 100,000 coins. Intermediate was okay at a million.
Advanced shot up to 10 million, expert to 100 million, and master? A huge billion coins that felt impossible. And every group needed its own coins—no sharing.
"System, you kidding me?" he growled, crossing his arms tight. "Where do I find that much gold?"
[Boost details provided. Example: 17,000 elven archers. Beginner power boost: 100,000 gold coins, 20% strength gain for all. Master power boost: 1 billion gold coins, 10 times strength for all current and new units. Ridge giant example: Peak ninth-circle start. Master power and defense boosts: 10 times strength and toughness, beats Tenth circle power.]
Renjiro laughed, short and dry, shaking his head. "Okay, that’s crazy strong."
[Query: Start enhancement?]
He huffed through his nose. He had four million gold coins total—not much at all. Advanced boosts were a far-off wish, and master was a joke.
He stared at the glowing words on the door, thinking hard, then nodded fast.
"System, boost the archers and huntresses. Intermediate power for the archers, intermediate defense for the huntresses."
He had three groups to choose—archers, huntresses, and ballistae. The ten ballistae sat quiet, no fights coming to use them, so boosting them was silly.
Archers shot arrows from far away, so more power made sense. Huntresses rode panthers right into battle, so tougher skin would keep them alive.
[Command received. Applying boosts: Intermediate power to elven archers, intermediate defense to elven huntresses. Task finished.]
"That fast?" Renjiro blinked, his ears catching a soft hum in the air.
Magic waves rolled out, big and bright, spreading over the land—thousands of them, like little sparks dancing. His eyes got wide, and he smelled something sharp, like lightning. "Breakthroughs?"
The ground shook a little, and the air felt warm as elves all over started glowing, getting stronger. "System, can boosts make them level up?" he asked, his voice tight with surprise.
[Boosts improve unit bodies. Intermediate level: 50% gain. Level-ups from better strength confirmed.]
Renjiro took a big breath, the air cool in his lungs. This boost thing was scary—amazing, but scary. He checked his gold stash in his head. 1.8 million left. "Wait, I lost 200,000 coins."
[Cost breakdown: Intermediate boosts need beginner first. Beginner: 100,000 gold coins per group. Total for two groups, beginner to intermediate: 2.2 million gold coins.]
He rolled his eyes, muttering low, "Gold-eating monster. No easy tricks here." Then louder, "Split what’s left, 60-40. Call more archers and huntresses."
[Command received. Summoning units: 60% elven archers, 40% elven huntresses. Task done.] The Battleborn Tree nearby shook, its leaves rustling loud like a storm. New elves poured out—archers with shiny bows and arrows, huntresses on quick panthers with sharp claws. As they stepped into the grass, the boosts hit them, and they sat down fast, glowing bright as they got stronger together.
Elaria and the three commanders ran into the clearing, their feet pounding the dirt, eyes big and wild. "Your Majesty!" Elaria yelled, her hands grabbing her chest like her heart might jump out.
"Your Majesty, something huge is happening! Almost every elf in the territory is breaking through their ranks—they’re..."
