Chapter 30: Priestess Class

Renjiro smiled at Elaria. "Since the commanders all agree, you shouldn’t refuse. Besides, the altar will open again soon. Everyone will have a chance."

He wasn’t surprised by their choice. Elaria was the best option. She was his future Queen and the only Eighth-Circle Elf in their land. If anyone should become the first Hero class Elf, it was her.

Elaria hesitated for a moment, then nodded. She stepped onto the altar, standing in the center as Renjiro guided her.

"Don’t worry," he said gently. "Just focus on the altar. It will tell you what to do."

This was the method the system had given him. Once Elaria connected with the altar, she would learn about different Heroic Elf classes. One of them was the Nature’s Guardian, a hero who could summon Treants, strong, ancient beings that could fight beside them.

The Heroic Altar would give her the class that best fit her will.

Elaria closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

The altar glowed faintly, sensing her thoughts. The magic symbols on its surface pulsed with energy. Several minutes passed in silence. Then, Elaria opened her eyes and looked at Renjiro.

"Your Majesty, I’m ready."

Renjiro nodded. "Then let’s begin."

A golden light shot from his forehead and entered the altar. It was the power of one hundred thousand gold coins, transformed into pure energy. The altar trembled, glowing even brighter as it enveloped Elaria in divine light.

Renjiro watched with excitement. What hero class would she choose?

He hoped for Nature’s Guardian. With the ability to summon Treants, Elaria could strengthen their army.

The Heroic Transformation took longer than expected. The glow surrounding Elaria was too bright to see through, and the air around the altar felt heavy with power.

Then—

The light faded.

Elaria stepped forward, but she was no longer the same. Her white dress had turned into a flowing robe covered in glowing runes. A crescent moon-shaped mark shone on her forehead, giving her a divine presence.

Renjiro quickly walked up to her. "Elaria! Did it work?"

She smiled. "Yes, Your Majesty. I have become a Heroic Elf."

Renjiro’s eyes lit up. "What class did you choose?"

Elaria gracefully stepped down from the altar, holding a silver magic staff. A soft glow surrounded her, making her seem almost holy.

She met his gaze with warm eyes.

"Your Majesty... I have become a Moonlit Priestess."

For a moment, no one spoke.

Behind Renjiro, Lorien, Selena, and Lirael looked at each other with surprise. Even without testing her power, they could feel the change. Elaria had stepped into a new circle of strength.

"This power..." Lorien whispered.

"So this is what it means to be a Hero Class?" Selena clenched her fists. She was already looking forward to the next full moon, when she could try for herself.

Renjiro, however, was confused.

He had expected Elaria to choose a combat-focused class, but she had become a support-type hero instead.

"A priestess?" he asked.

Elaria nodded. "Yes, Your Majesty. The Moonlit Priestess is a Heroic Elf that focuses on support magic. I have gained three Skills."

She raised her staff, and silver moonlight flickered around her fingers as she listed them.

"The first is Moonlight Arrow, a magical attack that never misses. The second is Falling Starlight, an area spell that calls down enchanted meteors. And my final skill..." Her voice softened as she met Renjiro’s eyes. "Moon Goddess’ Blessing."

Renjiro’s expression grew serious. "What does it do?"

Elaria’s grip on her staff tightened. "It creates a divine barrier. As long as I am alive, I can use it to shield my allies from harm. But more than that..." She took a deep breath.

"I chose this class because I want to protect the Elves." Her voice was steady, full of determination. Then she looked straight at him.

"More than anything, I want to protect you, Your Majesty." Renjiro felt his heart tighten.

During their battles with the Goblins, Elaria had always stayed by his side, ensuring his safety. Now, she had chosen the Moonlit Priestess—not for her own strength, but to continue protecting him and everyone.

He reached out, gently taking her hand.

The sacred glow around her softened at his touch, as if responding to his presence.

Elaria’s crimson eyes were filled with deep devotion. To her, Renjiro was more important than power, status, or even her own life.

At that moment... A hesitant voice broke the silence.

"Elaria..." Selena spoke carefully. "Now that you’ve become a Moonlit Priestess... what about your faith?"

Selena’s question lingered in the air, and the expressions of Lorien and Lirael gradually changed as they grasped the implications.

The Moon Goddess and the Elven Goddess were two entirely different deities.

If Elaria had become a Moonlit Priestess, did that mean she had abandoned the Elven Goddess and now worshiped the Moon Goddess instead?

Elaria smiled gently. "Selena, my faith hasn’t changed. I still worship the Elven Goddess. The Moonlit Priestess is simply a Heroic Elf class—it isn’t directly tied to the Moon Goddess."

The three Elven commanders breathed a sigh of relief, their worries easing.

However, what they didn’t know—and what Elaria herself hadn’t realized yet—was that her faith in the Elven Goddess was no longer as firm as before. Her unwavering devotion had shifted.

Renjiro stood beneath the Battleborn Tree, his heart pounding.

Behind him, Elaria and the three Elven commanders watched in anticipation. The soft glow surrounding Elaria made her look almost ethereal, while the commanders’ eyes burned with excitement.

This was a crucial moment.

Renjiro was about to spend over two million gold coins—the wealth they had taken from the Goblin Territory—to summon a massive army. This would be the largest summoning he had ever performed, far exceeding his previous ones by at least tenfold.

Taking a deep breath, he focused on the system and issued his command.

"System, reserve 5,000 gold coins for building a Elunarian Spring. Use the remaining gold to summon High Elves with professions in a 60:40 ratio."

[Understood, Initiating The Process!]
