Chapter 112: Power Up
Chapter 112: Power Up
But the Shapeshifting Sage kept to themselves, camped at the edge of the clearing. These bear-like beings, with thick fur and sharp claws, radiated raw strength.
Most elves stayed away, their steps hesitant. The Druids’ eyes glowed faintly, and their deep growls made the air feel heavy.
Lorien, one of the commanders, leaned toward Elaria, her voice low. "Elder Elaria, those bear-men... are they related to orcs?"
Elaria tilted her head, her eyes thoughtful. "I don’t think so. Their life force is strong, yes, but their magic... it feels close to ours, to the elves."
Selena scratched his chin. "So, are they some kind of elf?"
Elaria shook her head slightly. "I’m not sure. We’ll have to ask His Majesty when he’s done meditating."
The commanders nodded, their eyes drifting back to Renjiro. He sat still as stone, his face calm, his body glowing faintly with magical energy. They stood guard, their hearts full of hope for his success.

As dawn broke, the first rays of sunlight touched the mountaintops, painting the sky in soft pinks and golds. The long silence of the night shattered with a beautiful, ethereal song that floated through the air.
It was soft at first, like a whisper, then grew stronger, filling the forest with warmth. The mountain range, stretching nearly a hundred kilometers, had been cold and lifeless for years, wrapped in the dark chill of undead energy.
But here, on its western edge, a vibrant forest thrived—an oasis of green, bursting with color and magic.
Flowers bloomed in every shade, vines curled around ancient trees, and the air smelled sweet, like spring after a long winter. This forest was a spark of life, pushing back against the dead stone around it, reclaiming the land bit by bit.
The forest pulsed with life, its lush greenery stretching far under the warm dawn light. Tall trees swayed gently, their leaves shimmering with dew, while colorful flowers bloomed in patches of red, blue, and gold.
A beautiful, ethereal song floated through the air, soft and haunting, like the forest itself was singing.
The vibrant life energy was so thick it made the air feel warm and alive, wrapping everyone in a sense of peace and strength.
Graceful elves moved through the trees, their steps light and sure, their silver and green armor glinting in the sunlight.
Beside them marched massive Giant Golems, their stone bodies creaking with each heavy step.
The fierce Shapeshifting Sage prowled nearby, their bear-like forms covered in thick fur, their glowing eyes scanning the forest. Fluttering above were the Grove Spirits—tiny, sprite-like beings with delicate wings and glowing wands.
Their wands cast soft green light that spilled onto the ground, making nearby plants grow faster.
Sprouts pushed through the soil, vines curled tighter, and flowers opened wider wherever the light touched.
One Giant Golem, its stone surface cracked and mossy, lumbered toward a Grove Spirit hovering near a patch of new saplings. The spirit’s wings buzzed, and her wand glowed bright green. The golem’s deep voice rumbled. "Hello, cute little Grove Spirit!"
The spirit spun around, her tiny face scrunching in annoyance. "Stone giant, don’t get so close!" she snapped, her voice high and sharp. "Look at all the sprouts and flowers you’ve crushed! You’re stomping on everything!"
The golem froze, looking down at the flattened plants under its massive foot. "Oops, sorry!" it said, its voice sheepish. "They’re just so small!"
The Grove Spirit crossed her tiny arms, still glaring. "What do you want?"
As the golem shifted to answer, its foot moved, squashing another patch of delicate ferns. A group of nearby Grove Spirits gasped and zipped over, tapping their glowing wands angrily on the golem’s leg. The taps were soft but sparked with green light, making the golem wince. "Sorry, sorry!" it said quickly, lifting its foot carefully. "Uh, the reason I came... my people wanted me to ask if you could maybe... stop planting so many trees? It’s getting really thick in here, and if it keeps up, it’ll be hard for us big folk to move around."
The Grove Spirit’s eyes narrowed, her wings buzzing faster. "No way!" she huffed. "Nobody tells Grove Spirits to stop planting trees, except the great Elf King himself!"
The golem nodded calmly, unbothered. "Alright then, I’ll go ask His Majesty."
With heavy, thudding steps, the golem turned and lumbered away, its massive form shaking the ground. The Grove Spirits watched it go, their tiny faces shifting from anger to worry. They floated together, their wings brushing as they whispered.
One spirit, her wand dimming slightly, spoke up. "Sisters, I think we’ve been tricked!"
Another huffed, waving her wand like a fist. "That clumsy stone giant! He’s going to complain about us! Planting trees is our job!"
A third spirit, her voice shaky, asked, "But what if His Majesty listens to him and tells us to stop?"
A confident spirit shook her head, her wings glowing brighter. "No! His Majesty the Elf King is kind. He’d never take away our tree-planting. If we can’t plant trees, what would we even do?"
Another chimed in, her voice cheerful. "Right! If there’s no war and no trees to plant, we’d be so bored!"
The first spirit nodded, her tiny face firm. "Then let’s go see His Majesty ourselves! We can’t let those big, clumsy stone-heads spread lies about us!"
The Grove Spirits buzzed in agreement, their wings humming like a swarm of bees. With determined nods, they darted off, a glowing cloud of green light weaving through the trees toward the towering Elder Tree of Wisdom.
Beneath the Elder Tree of Wisdom, Elaria and the three elf commanders waited near Renjiro.
Renjiro himself was still sitting cross-legged on the ground, deep in his trance.
He had been like this all night.
The three commanders were starting to look a little worried.
Lorien asked anxiously, "Elder Elaria, His Majesty will be alright, won’t he?"
Elaria offered her a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry," she said softly. "His Majesty is fine. I can feel his magic power still growing stronger. It’s already reached the late stage of the Ninth Circle."
Lorien let out a sigh of relief.
Selena and Lirael looked amazed.
