Chapter 872: Chapter 868 Hurry Up and Appear

Before Brother Shi could continue shouting, the Level 5 zombie had already grabbed him and arrived below the crane. Subsequently, it lifted the beam barehanded, lowering the large iron hook, and casually hung Brother Shi on it.

After doing all this, the Level 5 zombie didn’t harm him but instead immediately left, along with other high-level zombies that could easily reach Brother Shi due to their height.

It was as if they were all driven away by some terrifying presence.

Seeing this, Brother Shi breathed a sigh of relief. He had thought Tang Ye was going to throw him into a zombie horde to feed him to the zombies. Although he didn’t know why he would do such a thing, he couldn’t help feeling scared!

But that Level 5 zombie just hung him on the crane. This meant that Tang Ye wasn’t going to throw him into the zombie horde, but what was he doing this for?

He was perplexed but didn’t dare to ask.

"My Buddha! Let me go, we don’t even know each other, why do you treat me like this?"

He struggled on the crane, trying to make himself fall to the ground because the zombies had already dispersed, leaving the Crossroads area empty. As a Level 3 New Human, even if he fell, he wouldn’t die but could use this opportunity to escape instead.

What Tang Ye was planning to do was a mystery; no one knew what he was up to, but it certainly wasn’t anything good.

Tang Ye stood still, hands in his pockets, quietly watching him struggle continuously. After a while, he finally spoke up to remind him, "Hey, it’s better if you don’t move around too much. You’re not necessarily going to die soon, but if you do fall, I can assure you that you’ll die very quickly!"

Hearing Tang Ye’s voice, Brother Shi immediately stopped struggling and obediently hung there on the crane beam. He believed that this terrifying man would do as he said!

Seeing him calm down, Tang Ye gave him a mysterious smile and then walked toward a building.

As he entered the building, the zombies below seemed as if someone had lifted a restraint on them. A multitude of bloodthirsty, pale eyes fixed on Brother Shi hanging from the crane beam, swarming around below with their rotten hands reaching out and emitting "heh heh heh" sounds.

But the foolish zombies could only make gestures, they couldn’t actually reach Brother Shi.

Brother Shi understood this, but his scalp still tingled with anxiety—the number of zombies below was overwhelming!

He looked in the direction where Tang Ye had gone. He knew the man had entered the residential building next door, just not which floor he was on.

"Where are you? Don’t joke like this!" he called out loudly to Tang Ye, but no one responded. Instead, his shouting attracted even more zombies, creating a dark, dense crowd below the crane.

Tang Ye walked up to the fourth floor and found a room with a window facing Brother Shi. He entered the room where only half of the window hinge was attached, the window swaying gently with the breeze. Tang Ye paid it no mind and casually pulled it behind him, grabbing a rusty-framed chair to sit behind the window.

The wait was long. Tang Ye smoked a few cigarettes until the smell started irritating him, then he put the cigarette butts back in his pocket.

It seemed keeping Brother Shi hanging continuously wasn’t right; the town was small, but no one knew when the intelligent zombie would show up.

Thinking this, Tang Ye picked up a piece of broken glass from the windowsill...

Time ticked away slowly, and as the time being suspended grew longer, Brother Shi gradually became accustomed to the sensation.

He didn’t know what material Tang Ye used for the rope binding him; as a Level 3 New Human, he still couldn’t break free. However, this was good; he was temporarily safe, at least for now.

Although the dense wave of corpses below looked fierce and ferocious, they couldn’t climb up, could they?

Moreover, that person had said that if he was lucky, he might not die, and if he was unlucky, he would be dead for sure. So, he must be the former. Thinking this way eased Brother Shi’s mind a little.

"If I survive this disaster, I’m going to really enjoy myself when I get back!"

A smile spread across the face of the hanging Brother Shi, but it was very lascivious, almost as if he had walked a circle at death’s door. He increasingly realized how fortunate it was to be alive.

But soon, he felt something approaching him from behind. Struggling to turn his head, Brother Shi’s pupils dilated!

"What is this!"

He yelled, and his hanging body began to swing involuntarily from side to side. From the direction beside his body, a blood-red tentacle with a triangular tip stretched towards him like a poisonous snake!

This bizarre tentacle seemed to have an eye on its tip, but it moved too quickly for Brother Shi to be sure if it was really an eye.

All he saw was the tentacle, wrapped with a piece of glass, stretching towards him.

"Scram!"

In a panic, Brother Shi straightened his body and kicked, but the tentacle seemed aware of where his kick would land and dodged it agilely. It then stabbed towards him with the glass shard!

Thud!

The tentacle looked slender, but the force it exerted was beyond human imagination. Brother Shi’s skin, normally impervious even to bullets, was forcibly pierced by the glass shard.

As his flesh tore, Brother Shi grunted. He tried to fight off the tentacle, but his hands were tied, leaving him no way to remove it and no choice but to watch the tentacle wreak havoc.

"Damn it!" he roared. When had Brother Shi ever suffered such humiliation? But given the circumstances, he could only endure quietly.

He could only pray that the tentacle would not kill him!

It seemed his prayers were heard by heaven, which also decided to lend him a hand. After poking a bloody hole in his body, the tentacle ceased its movements and retracted swiftly into nowhere, allowing Brother Shi to heave a long sigh of relief.

The moment the glass shard harshly tore through Brother Shi’s skin and flesh, blood gushed out, spilling into the horde of corpses below.

The scent of warm blood began to drift, the alluring aroma emanating from the Level 3 New Human’s body causing the zombies below to boil up in frenzy. They surged towards the spot where the blood fell, like fish in water, continuously rushing forward. In an instant, the zombies on the ground tangled into a grotesque mess.

They roared, and one after another, zombie hands were raised high, only to be quickly suppressed by their peers, as another hand went up. The commotion attracted even more zombies from a great distance. Seeing Brother Shi hung above and the faint scent of blood in the air drove them into a frenzy too!

Tang Ye watched this scene with great satisfaction. Zombies, like wolves, go mad at the smell of fresh blood! But while wolves do it to survive, zombies do it merely for the sake of eating.

"Come on, appear now, I can hardly wait..." Behind the window, Tang Ye’s face revealed a sinister smile.
