Chapter 498: Chapter 495 Do You Also Like This Little Darling?_1

Bai Xinran was a bit astonished as she looked at the food. She wanted to say something to Tang Ye but realized he had already left.

"Thank... thanks."

She voiced her gratitude, but Tang Ye didn’t reply. He sat down beneath the tree he’d been leaning against before, ripped open a bag of spicy chips, and began munching on them heartily.

Crunch crunch~

Everyone swallowed hard, the delicious smell wafting towards their noses was like a cat’s claw, incessantly scratching at their hearts. Seeing Tang Ye wasn’t an easy person to mess with, they could only greedily eye Bai Xinran.

Bai Xinran quickly scooted closer to Qiongli, holding the food tightly. An earlier unpleasant smell had disappeared, and people’s attitudes relaxed, mulling over what to do next.

"You all better not make a move, or else..."

At this point, Tang Ye coldly spoke up. As people turned towards him, he dug his hand into the tree, pulling out a handful of wood shavings.

"I hate damn thieves more than anything!"

A chilling wind passed over again, making everyone feel as if they were listening to a devil’s whisper. They also realized that Tang Ye’s weapon had at some point become a very peculiar knife.

That night, the starry sky was brilliant. Any random snapshot could have been a mobile phone’s wallpaper, but no one was in the mood to appreciate it.

The next day, it wasn’t until 10 a.m. that they started off again. When they reached the gas station, people almost broke down.

Reality was as dismal as they expected, providing no saving grace. The convenience store was as bare as their own faces!

Even though they were mentally prepared, the dire situation added a touch of despair to everyone’s heart. Some still had leftover food from yesterday, but the journey ahead felt as overwhelming as a chasm!

However, there was still a glimmer of hope. At least they found a truck and several sedans. Naturally, these vehicles could be driven away. However, looking at the motorcycles nearby, it seemed that this gas station was a motor gang’s outpost.

Brother Zhang made a racket rummaging through the convenience store, finding nothing desirable. Livid, he stormed out, yelling at Qiongli.

"You dumbass, I tell you, if anything happens, I’ll drag you to hell with me!"

Qiongli gave him a glance without saying anything. It was clear he was on the edge. There was limited food, save for a little left with Tang Ye. The reserves wouldn’t last beyond today... tomorrow at most.

But when Qiongli didn’t react, someone else spoke up for her. Bai Xinran stood in front of Qiongli, anger palpable in her voice, "What can you do anyway? Where were you when Aunt Qiongli was fighting zombies? You were just watching from the side!"

Brother Zhang’s face twisted angrily, "Shut up, b*tch! Don’t think I won’t dare to kill you just because that idiot has your back!"

Bai Xinran stepped back involuntarily, fear evident on her face. Brother Zhang’s eyes flashed with contempt. Tang Ye, sitting atop a car smoking a cigarette, watched them indifferently.

"Let’s move on. At least we have vehicles now. We’ll find food eventually. God never shuts one door but he opens another," Qiongli said calmly. She then led people to the cars.

The other survivors had just filled the cars’ tanks and quietly got into the cars. Brother Zhang, looking for trouble with Qiongli, dashed to grab the driver’s seat of the car she was about to board. The truck was already packed with people. The remaining sedans were also getting filled, except for the one where Tang Ye had perched himself.

Brother Zhang glanced at Tang Ye before jeering at Qiongli, "No more room, b*tch! Guess you’re walking!"

Qiongli was fuming, reaching for the handle of the military spike, but Bai Xinran quickly held her hand back.

Bai Xinran’s hand was startlingly cold. Qiongli looked at her with concern. Seeing Bai Xinran shake her head, she calmed down and moved toward Tang Ye’s car.

"There’s no driver here, though," said Tang Ye. His tone was indiscernible, but in this situation, his words seemed as mocking as Brother Zhang’s.

"I don’t need you to worry about that. I can drive!"

"Oh?"

Tang Ye jumped down from atop the car, exhaling a cloud of smoke. It was so dense it made Bai Xinran cough.

"Extinguish that cigarette. It’s not good for the child," Qiongli said, a frown on her face. She didn’t expect him to listen, but to her surprise, he did. Tang Ye looked startled and tossed the half-smoked cigarette far away.

Now it was Qiongli’s turn to be stunned.

"You..."

"What ’you’? If you can drive, then get in the car!"

Tang Ye was the first to get in. Qiongli sat in the driver’s seat after passing Nannan to Bai Xinran. Bai Xinran initially wanted to sit in the front passenger seat, but Tang Ye barred her way, "Wait, sit next to me."

Bai Xinran looked at Qiongli and upon receiving her nod of approval, sat next to Tang Ye in the back seat.

Qiongli was somewhat anxious. Tang Ye’s actions heightened her suspicions, but she felt helpless. Even if she teamed up with Brother Zhang, they wouldn’t be able to stop him. She could only go with the flow and, if necessary, fight Tang Ye to the death.

Little did she know, Tang Ye simply wanted Nannan to sit closer to him.

"Little Darling, do you want to eat this? Sister can help you open it," Bai Xinran offered Nannan snacks Tang Ye had given her, but Nannan pouted and buried her head in Bai Xinran’s neck. Qiongli started the car and led the convoy.

Bai Xinran patted Nannan’s back but suddenly noticed Tang Ye watching Nannan.

"Big brother, do you also like Little Darling?"

Tang Ye was caught off guard, didn’t know what to say, and looked away out the window.

The road ahead was winding, with occasionally deformed tree roots disrupting the pavement, forming bumps here and there. Most obstructions were however cleared, presumably by the motor gang to ensure smooth rides.

They saw piles of zombie corpses on both sides of the road, left from the motor gang’s path of destruction. It gave them a temporary safe passage.

Just as they thought they could finally enjoy some calm, people in the trailing cars noticed a group of people on another road eyeing their convoy. The bikes parked beside them revealed their identity!

A rush of panic swept over everyone. They recalled the gruesome fate of the family they’d found the previous day. The motor gang was relentless. If you managed to evade one group, another would soon be aware of your presence. How could they possibly let you escape?

The family must’ve been captured by the motor gang, reluctant, due to these circumstances. How could a two-wheeler possibly outrun a four-wheeler?

"Damn it, look over there, it’s the motor gang!"
