I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 444 - 441: The Only Goal; Qinshan Base_1
Chapter 444: Chapter 441: The Only Goal; Qinshan Base_1
"Here to see the Zombie King?" Tang Ye was startled by this, looking at them with a strange gaze.
"Who is the Zombie King?"
"The one with white hair..."
Tang Ye’s face showed a perplexed expression, then he asked, "What do you want with him?"
"We came to ask him for help..."
As Chen Chaoyang was speaking, he stopped mid-sentence. To put it nicely, he sought the Zombie King for revenge, but to put it bluntly, that was akin to betraying humanity. He was uncertain whether the person in front of him was indeed Li Henian. If it was not, and the other party still had a shred of conscience, they would kill him immediately!
This was a gamble - a most uninteresting gamble that he didn’t want to take.
Tang Ye seemed to understand Chen Chaoyang’s hesitation and walked towards him. When he stood in front of Chen Chaoyang, Tang Ye’s eyes turned blood-red, and his sclera were as dark as ink. Then, the skin on his face began to wrinkle and turned from flesh-coloured to ash-grey. Dark purple patterns began to spread across his face.
Such a transformation undeniably signaled to Chen Chaoyang that the Li Henian standing before him was, in fact, the Zombie King!
Tang Ye’s transformation was swift. He changed back into a human-like appearance in the blink of an eye, causing waves of shock to surge in Chen Chaoyang’s mind.
"Can you talk now?"
"Yes, yes!" Chen Chaoyang quickly said. He then continued, "I came to you because I want your help for revenge!"
"Revenge? Whom are you seeking revenge on?"
"I want someone knocked off... No, a lot of people!"
As he spoke, Chen Chaoyang’s face became ferociously twisted, and his eyes took on a mad look. He looked like a crazy man!
"Murder? You want me to help you kill people, but why?"
Tang Ye looked at him with a peculiar expression. Hiring him to kill people right off the bat, wasn’t that a bit too naive? Shouldn’t there be some kind of reward, at least?
Chen Chaoyang looked around and leaned closer to Tang Ye. "I have some information to share with you," he said.
"Is it good news or bad news?"
"Bad."
When Chen Chaoyang finished speaking, he just looked at Tang Ye, waiting for his reaction. Tang Ye, guessing what was coming, couldn’t help but chuckle ominously. Coming here to contact the Zombie King was a very peculiar action in itself. Perhaps his existence was now known to some powerful people.
"Let’s head back."
With that command to his people, Tang Ye led them all back to Shiwuguan Base.
...
"Have a seat."
"Yes, yes."
Chen Chaoyang, under Tang Ye’s instructions, sat on a wooden bench. Likely due to his fear, he barely occupied the seat, appearing quite cautious.
Only the two of them were in the living room. Ah Fu, his hulking three-meter tall body standing like a door god at the entrance, while Liang Hanyang curiously peeked inside, only to be curbed by a menacing glare from Ah Fu.
"Why so fierce!"
"Stay away!"
Ah Fu sniffed like a bull, detecting a persistent scent of zombies on the little girl.
"What sort of bad news have you brought to me, and how do you plan to persuade me to help you with your revenge?"
Chen Chaoyang took a deep breath, recalling everything he had experienced. A spark of madness and loathing for a certain race flashed in his eyes. He was eager to see the Qinshan Base overrun with zombies and rivers of blood!
But now, he found that the Zombie King was not as brutal as he had imagined. On the contrary, there was a peculiar gentleness about him. Was he actually the leader of a base?
That was unexpected.
How absurd it seemed to have a Zombie King leading survivors.
After all, zombies were humanity’s enemies, let alone the Zombie King?
"I can let you take over the entire Qinshan Base!" Chen Chaoyang finally said after some contemplation. The appeal of wiping out everyone in the Qinshan Base was unrealistic. To convince the Zombie King, he needed to offer something of value!
"Take over? The Qinshan Base?" Tang Ye tilted his head in curiosity.
"How so?"
"Be the ruler there, just as you are here."
"With your help?"
"No."
"If I’m doing it myself, what use are you?"
"I can provide insider intelligence about the Qinshan Base."
"Oh?" Tang Ye’s eyes lit up. Connecting this with the bad news Chen Chaoyang had yet to reveal, Tang Ye was intrigued.
"Why don’t you tell me about that bad news now? I’m quite curious about how bad it is for me."
"It’s really, really bad; it could easily destroy you."
Tang Ye stayed silent, looking at him, waiting for him to speak.
"In five days, the United District will launch a nuclear strike against Lin City, with you as the primary target!"
Upon hearing this, Tang Ye’s pupils contracted. He thought to himself, "As I suspected!".
"What is the United District and how did they learn about me?"
"Originally, the United District was a large survivor base in Longyang City. Due to its geographical location, it is not far from other small and medium-sized survivor bases. Under mutual cooperation, Longyang City and several smaller cities nearby managed to maintain relative order and establish a safe trade route. To make administration easier, they renamed themselves the United District. There are seven administrators, also known as the ’Big Seven’, who are the largest survivor forces in South China. In this region, all of the survivor bases are under their jurisdiction!"
"The reason why they know about you is because a drone captured your image. I presume that by now, all of South China, or perhaps even all of China, knows that there’s a Zombie King in Lin City! Your capabilities are truly shocking, attracting the attention of many influential figures. Hence, they plan to use nuclear weapons against you."
As Tang Ye had suspected, this had indeed to do with the drone. Meanwhile, Chen Chaoyang reminded him to leave Lin City within five days. As for where to go, Chen Chaoyang had already figured it out for him - Qinshan Base!
"I have two questions: First, even if I control the Qinshan Base, what can the United District do to me? Second, why will this happen in five days? Why not act now?"
Chen Chaoyang paused for a moment, evidently not having expected Tang Ye to ask such questions. But it so happened, he knew a bit about both.
"The United District dares to keep other survivor bases obedient, of course they have their means. What others do not have, they have!"
"Such as?"
"Intercontinental missiles. They can strike from afar. Whenever a survivor base changes leadership, they send a treaty. This treaty is about the use of intercontinental missiles. Any disobedient base would never anticipate an incoming missile from the sky."
"As for why they are only acting after five days...it’s probably because they haven’t cleared the dangers around the nuclear well yet. I heard there’s a Level 4 zombie nesting in a nuclear well in Longyang City. Clearing the zombies would require time."
The moment Chen Chaoyang finished speaking, Tang Ye sank into deep thought. It seemed Chen Chaoyang hadn’t offered him any real reward. All of these were things he had to do himself, unless he decided to do nothing at all.
