Chapter 428: Chapter 425: Unseen Color_1
Su Sigui fell into the swarm of corpses, transforming back into her previous form, devoid of zombies, and if zombies stood in her way, she would kill them!
Like a journey through an uninhabited wasteland, Su Sigui’s trajectory was erratic, purposely targeting larger zombies to charge at.
Since she was a Resting One, zombies wouldn’t attack her spontaneously. Hiding among the swarm, her petite body veiled by the hulking bodies of zombies, obscuring Tang Ye’s sight of her. Even if he wanted to use the zombies to hinder her, he wouldn’t know how to command them.
Under the influence of Zombie King’s will, the zombies roared uneasily. Within the king’s commands they found no understanding. Whether in the form of a Resting One or a zombie, they all looked the same to their eyes. Attack? How does one attack?
Helplessly, some zombies began attacking each other trying to execute Zombie King’s order. Tang Ye, foaming at the nerve, clenched a small grass-root in his hand as he watched.
Similarly, he tried to sense her aura, but after Su Sigui entered the horde of zombies, her aura decreased significantly, probably concealed by her.
With the black mist whirling around, Zombie King Tang Ye dropped into the zombie mob, smelling the scent of Su Sigui, confirming the direction and charging there.
The direction he charged to was where thousands of soldiers stood. Following Su Sigui entering the zombie swarm, they retreated, and the soldiers behind turned their guns away, allowing passage. From back to front, armored vehicles reversed orderly and backed up. The zombies ahead roared desperately, intending to advance again, but they were obliterated by ruthless artillery!
"I must kill you!"
With time ticking away, Tang Ye was anxious, and stopped searching in the horde, instead rising towards the sky, ready to kill the soldiers. Su Sigui entered this direction, wasn’t it to return among the soldiers? Thus, he decided to wait here.
However, Tang Ye underestimated his own speed. Before he could reach the soldiers, he noticed Su Sigui was already among the people, looking directly at him with a smile on her face.
Unbeknownst to them, all the soldiers retreated to a "Y" shaped junction. Two brass cylinders appeared on both sides in front of them, emitting yellow spots of light and white mist on top.
No one knew what that mist was, but as soon as the zombies smelt it, their faces twisted abruptly and they turned away. Tang Ye, regardless of the odds, dove straight down, while Su Sigui was already prepared. Snatching a black rod from a soldier, she fired it at Tang Ye.
The front segment of the rod split halfway open, revealing a dazzling red light spot. Startled, Tang Ye only felt the air around him converge towards the rod. A sound followed, and a red light beam shot him, causing an explosion of brown smoke.
While the red beam possessed great destructive power, it had little effect on Tang Ye. Although, its function was far from that. As the brown smoke entered Tang Ye’s nose, he felt as if his brain was forcibly stuffed with water, causing unbearable discomfort.
"You, Retreat!"
"Yes."
With a calm demeanor, Su Sigui commanded the crowd behind her. The soldiers, one after the other, retreated towards the right side of the path. As they left, someone handed Su Sigui something.
Tang Ye made strenuous effort to exhale through his nose to expel the unpleasant sensation. As he watched Su Sigui, his face remained devoid of expression.
Su Sigui wrapped a torn piece of clothing around her body to prevent from revealing large patches of fair skin. She still wore a smile as she gazed at the distant Zombie King. Only, that smile sent chilling shivers down one’s spine.
Zombies, taking a step forward, then stepping back, appeared to be controlled by the white mist. Tang Ye caught a whiff of it and instinctively scrunched his nose.
This scent... how should it be described?
Human Tang Ye just smelled a sour odor, but Zombie King Tang Ye felt an indescribable sense of nausea. There was no stink, only nausea!
This feeling of nausea was akin to that of burying your nose in a pair of unwashed socks worn for several days, eliciting an unpleasant sensation.
After a few seconds of a silent stare-down, Zombie King finally let out a cold snort, giving Su Sigui a glance before turning and leading tens of thousands of zombies away.
Wait, why did he take away the horde?
As the swarm retreated like oncoming tidal waves, Zombie King, along with Tyrant Pseudo-dragon and the other zombies, had all disappeared. Su Sigui appeared as if she had been drained, swaying slightly.
All the soldiers had gone, leaving only Xu Tianyu by her side. He extended his hand to support her, but he was waved off by her.
Xu Tianyu could only become the observer. The air was tense for a few seconds before the boy finally asked Su Sigui, "Mayor, how did you become a Resting One?"
Su Sigui remained silent, her eyes fixated on a distant building where a person stood atop.
Half a moment later, she finally answered: "Do you understand humans?"
This question puzzled Xu Tianyu, but he still nodded.
"I don’t know."
"Humans are the most powerful species, only that their power has been limited and needs to be unlocked bit by bit. Those streetlamps, cars, and buildings are all proof of human advancement... and then..."
"Then what?"
"Have you ever seen a paralysed person or someone with muscular dystrophy? They’re actually suffering from a problem in their brains. When we touch something, its texture, feel, and the experience it gives us are all transmitted by the brain. Once the brain stops transmitting this information to us, we will become weak."
"Mayor, I don’t understand."
"You will. How did cars and electric lights come to be? It was through endless human imagination and realization. With imagination, you have a blueprint, even if it’s bizarre, but that’s just what humans do. They work tirelessly to achieve what they imagine on the basis of what already exists. Imagination is the foundation of humans’ strength."
"It is because of imagination that humans evolved from the Cold Weapons era to the Hot Weapons era. Despite these being external objects, it cannot be denied that humans have become stronger, surpassing all other species on Earth by a wide margin! Humans can imagine what they do not possess, work hard to achieve it, but they cannot imagine the unknown. And these unknowns are the limitations of humans. Aside from humans, other living organisms possess organs that humans do not, such as birds and electric eels, etc. Can you envision the wings that allow birds to fly or the electric organs of electric eels if you have never seen them before?"
"There are many things in this world that we believe don’t exist but they do, but most of it has been concealed by those higher up. Take the Zombie King for instance. His ability is unprecedented. This world is too wonderful. The universe is so vast, how can humans assume something does not exist simply because they said so, Tianyu."
"Yeah."
"Want to become stronger?"
"Yes."
"Becoming stronger is simple. As long as you can imagine a color that we have never seen or named, then you will become stronger..."
"A color that we have never seen, Mayor you managed to imagine it?"
"Not yet."
