I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 304 - 303 Special Guy _1
Chapter 304: Chapter 303 Special Guy _1
Watching the zombie charge towards him, the young man tightly grasped his knife. As the zombie approached him, he steeled his heart, disregarding his fear, shut his eyes and swung his knife!
Splat!
With one slice, he rammed the knife into the zombie’s chest. Opening his eyes to see his unsuccessful kill attempt, he turned and ran; his random swinging of the knife made for a comical sight.
Some people in the crowd wanted to laugh but then thought about how next it could be their turn, their laughter died into silence.
Despite that, many people in the crowd couldn’t help but roll their eyes.
Is this how the zombie is supposed to be fought?
The young man didn’t look any different, but he must have had some skills to stay alive until now, namely, running away!
He ran fleetingly, leaving the zombie far behind. Every now and then, he’d look back, but he was exceptionally anxious all the same, trying hard to figure out how to deal with the zombie.
The young man ran around the field for quite a while. The longer he dragged this on, the longer the crowd could be excused from having to fight the zombie, at least not for now.
However, some people couldn’t help but goad him, "Come on, are you trying to run it to death? You’re wasting time!"
"Hurry up!"
Hearing these provoking words, the young man’s face grew tense. He had been running for so long that he was starting to feel physically exhausted. He thought, if he was going to die, then so be it. He gritted his teeth, turned around, wielded his knife and took a few steps back.
Roar!
The zombie roared and lunged towards him with claws outstretched. The young man, with a devil-may-care attitude, aimed his knife at the zombie’s neck.
Thump!
The blade sunk into the zombie’s withered skin, but with not enough force to cut through in one go. The young man panicked, unsure of his next move.
"Stupid, use your feet. How the hell did you survive this long?",
The crowd didn’t know who made this remark, whether it was a mockery or a reminder. Either way, it woke up the young man. He quickly remembered that the previous two had also kicked against the zombie!
Images flashed through his mind, leaving a vivid imprint!
Lifting his foot, he gave it his all!
Thud!
With a direct kick to the zombie’s thigh, he knocked it down and used the advantage to plunge his knife down!
Splat!
He pierced through the zombie’s skull, plunging the knife deep inside. Holding onto the hilt of the knife, he yanked it out, looking at the unmoving zombie. He stumbled back a few steps, as if he had used all his strength.
"Ha ha ha!"
Letting out a few triumphant laughs, the young man’s face beamed with joy. Looking at the fallen zombie, he felt for the first time that zombies weren’t all that terrifying. They too could die, humans were just too scared!
Clap, clap!
Tang Ye clapped twice, yelled: "Well done! You can step down now."
"Thank you, Boss!"
The young man retreated to one side and sat down, his face shining with accomplishment. He occasionally glanced at the others standing nearby.
Next, Xu Haishui pulled out the fourth zombie. This time, someone again voluntarily stepped forward. With a crudely made spear, he pierced the zombie’s head, declaring his victory!
After that, the fifth and the sixth person also succeeded in their challenges!
Perhaps encouraged by these people, the seventh person also volunteered. Unfortunately, he wasn’t as lucky. He got his arm scratched by the zombie during the fight, and Ruan Chao’en shot him dead in his panic.
The first person died, instantly dampening everybody’s spirits. The courage they had slowly built up to fight the zombies got pulled back into reality by this death.
They realized that the reason these people were successful in their challenges was because they had previously fought against zombies and knew the techniques. Just because these individuals found it easy to defeat zombies, it did not mean that zombies were an easy target!
Xu Haishui took care of the body, putting it next to himself, waiting for the next person to ascend the stage.
Afterwards, more than ten individuals succeeded in their challenges. All the zombies in the truck were killed. The crowd let out a sigh of relief, except whenever they looked at Xu Haishui, they would draw a breath.
At this point, there were more than ten corpses piled up next to Xu Haishui, forming a small hill. Blood was accumulating almost enough to form a small stream.
With all the zombies killed, the challenge was over and people returned to their living areas with mixed feelings.
They still couldn’t forget what Tang Ye had said earlier. The driven away zombies would return here, which meant their lives would once again turn back into what it had been previously!
However, their fate was out of their control. The boss now was not Zhang Han. He could tolerate them waiting here for death, but Tang Ye would not allow it. With Tang Ye’s nature, he’d probably kill them himself before they died of starvation!
However, to go outside and search for supplies, hordes of zombies could easily take their lives. The difficulty in finding supplies had greatly increased.
But what else could they do? They couldn’t change anything. Perhaps Tang Ye was trying to do something good for them, to make them capable of surviving. But did anyone want to face this reality?
In the end, they were still too weak, unable to change their fate, left at the mercy of others.
Thinking of all this, many people looked over at Bai Huipeng and the other new comers, their faces complex.
The following day.
Xu Haishui arrived with another truck of zombies, and the challenges commenced just like the day before. However, to save time, five people would go up together. The truck moved in and out, time and time again.
Apart from the few dozens who succeeded at the beginning, the rest were forcibly pulled out by Xu Haishui. Of course, their outcomes were to get scratched by the zombies, but they were killed by Xu Haishui with a gunshot before they could turn into zombies themselves. Their bodies were placed next to him.
He only collected human corpses and showed no interest in zombie bodies. The crowd didn’t know what he was up to and didn’t inquire further.
The event continued until the fourth day when the zombies had spread into their area.
On this day, Xu Haishui was left alone to collect the bodies, throwing each corpse onto the truck. Beside him, the cries for the dead never ceased.
No one truly knew what was in their hearts. Were they blaming Tang Ye?
However, Xu Haishui didn’t care. After throwing the bodies into the truck, he saw Tang Ye heading his way.
"What are you up to?"
Xu Haishui pointed to a protruding head from the pile of corpses and replied, "These corpses are better off with me than with those cannibals."
"What, do you eat them?" Tang Ye raised an eyebrow.
"I raise zombies. As for these things, I’m not particularly interested."
"Raise zombies?"
Xu Haishui nodded, standing up straighter.
"I did find one peculiar fellow. I’ve settled it in the villa."
They chatted about this and that for a while. Tang Ye then heard Nannan’s wailing sound and looked back to see her toddling over.
Meanwhile, Xu Haishui drove the truck out of the gathering place.
