Chapter 257: Chapter 255 Evil Angel 3_1

Blood splattered all around, with Ning Tianlang darting from left to right like a specter, leaving a trail of afterimages in his wake!

"Die, all of you! Hahaha!"

Body after body fell to the ground—their guns smashed into scrap metal by sheer force. Ning Tianlang laughed ferociously, his body wrapped in a chilling layer of bloodshed.

He curled his fingers, and unknowingly, his ten fingertips had transformed into a new, ominous form. His hands shrouded in black, with strands of blood visibly coursing through, and nails lengthened, resembling demonic claws. These hands bore no resemblance to that of a human’s!

Blood dripped from his fingers. Bullets whizzed through the air and collided with his body, tearing his clothes apart, but they merely lodged in his skin without penetrating any further!

Within mere moments, eight men had already been slaughtered by the death god that was Ning Tianlang!

Their ranks had diminished by half, unimaginable as this was. Each pseudo soldier here was a New Human. They had never experienced such losses when dealing with the resistance from the old humans!

But now, facing the Level 3 New Human, the Level 1 New Humans proved as feeble as they once had against the New Humans. Even their deadly firearms seemed ineffective!

One New Human, seeing the devil-like Ning Tianlang charging towards him and knowing that his gun would probably not injure Ning, gritted his teeth and swiftly drew out a half-meter long, curved blade. He roared and fearlessly attacked Ning Tianlang!

"Worthless! Just you?"

Ning Tianlang looked disdainful. As the soldier swung his curved blade, Ning deftly sidestepped the blow. Simultaneously, his other hand gracefully lunged for the soldier’s waist!

Splat!

A grating sound echoed as the soldier’s spine was violently ripped out by Ning Tianlang. The New Human soldier’s face froze in shock, and the life quickly dimmed from his eyes.

After reclaiming his hand, now stained with fresh blood, Ning Tianlang kicked out. With a crash, the body in front of him was sent flying!

The man who had been idly toying with a round object watched this scene with a look of surprise. Having anticipated these events, he wasn’t excessively shocked.

Regardless, Ning Tianlang would die today!

Most of the men he had brought along had already been killed by Ning Tianlang. Carrying on this way would be pointless. He glanced outside the door, and seeing no one, his face turned grim.

"How about it, aren’t you coming out?"

As if aware that he had been discovered, a handsome man stepped out.

"Sigh, you’re a bit of a buzzkill, aren’t you? What’s wrong with watching a bit of drama?"

"Enough talk. Get on with it quickly. We’d be in trouble if he escapes."

"I know."

The man tilted his head in exasperation, looking at Ning Tianlang. But as he looked, he found Ning Tianlang was also looking at him!

"Zhe Mu, well played. You’ve made a vicious move!" Ning Tianlang had stopped the killing, now just looking at the man in front of him with great mockery.

"You don’t seem very surprised?" Zhe Mu asked, a smile reflecting in his eyes.

"What is there to be surprised about? I’ve already considered the possibility of this day coming."

"Then why haven’t you backed down?"

"Do you understand the psychological state of gambling addicts?"

"Ah, I see. So what now? Do we fight it out directly?" Zhe Mu continued to smile as though he wore a perpetual mask of joy.

"No, I have a request."

"What request?"

"I know you’re only trying to complete your mission by killing me. The Dragon Group won’t hold it against you. However, I hope that you can spare Yu’er."

"Your daughter? Oh, she is quite a good girl, very kind-hearted. But sadly, she’s the cause of your demise!"

Ning Tianlang was silent, a mix of bitterness and helplessness lingering in his eyes. To be honest, he was regretting the fact that his daughter was so kind-hearted now. Her kindness had indeed caused immense harm to countless people!

The fundamental principles of the Apocalypse should not be guessed using the mindset of peacetime. That would be utterly laughable!

Before the Apocalypse, helping others, respecting the elderly, and self-sacrifice were considered commendable virtues. But in the Apocalypse, all these lose their relevance!

In the Apocalypse, kindness only serves as an excuse for others to bully you relentlessly!

"Hey, I know what you’re thinking. Now, you can contemplate your thoughts down in hell. You know why you’re here, so who’ll do it? Me, or..."

"I’ll do it myself!"

"Alright!"

Zhe Mu nodded agreeably. There was still an effusive smile on his face. He had left a shred of dignity for a soon-to-be-deceased. He wouldn’t let Ning Tianlang become a laughing stock.

"Thank you. Also, my daughter, I beg you, spare her. She is innocent."

"You have my word."

Upon hearing this, Ning Tianlang relaxed. His normally rigid posture slumped, a wave of exhaustion radiating outward. It was as if he had aged by a decade or more in that moment.

The black veins on his skin retreated. Sighing, Ning Tianlang crouched down by a corpse in front of everyone and picked up a grenade.

No one moved. They simply held up their guns, remaining on high alert as they watched Ning Tianlang intently. He walked in front of the lobby and scanned the surroundings. His gaze grew distant.

In a daze, the scenery in the courtyard transformed. Verdant trees shrunk, lush leaves turning autumn yellow.

He saw a delicate little girl running wildly around, busying herself with the soil on the ground, tearing up bread, and throwing it on the ground for the ants seeking food.

"Daddy, when will you be back? Little ants, when do you think my daddy will be back? Daddy said he’s very busy with work. But, why does he have to work?"

"It’s so boring here. There’s no one to play with."

"Daddy! You’re finally back. That’s great!"

"I missed you so much!"

"Daddy, you’re leaving again? When will you be back... oh, in two days? Then, please come back soon."

...

His daughter’s voice echoed in his ears. Unknowingly, tears filled Ning Tianlang’s eyes as he looked at the girl. It was Ning Yu’er when she was still a child.

One moment she was looking up at the sky, the next she was looking down at the ground. Then she dashed back into the house to fetch her doll, hugging it as she bounced around. There were also times where she quietly worked on her assignments.

It was always just her. She was alone, always waiting for her father who was often away due to work. Each of her actions was filled with a child’s innocence, her soft, tender voice echoing in his mind, refusing to let go.

The scene was so pure, so dreamy. The girl was adorable, yet she was also so lonely.

Autumn leaves drifted along the gales, leaving behind the unique melody of this season. In the blink of an eye, the weather turned cold, the sun lost its warmth, and winter snow abruptly fell. But maybe it was just a fleeting moment, or perhaps it had been quite some time. Winter gave way to budding trees of spring, and soon, it was midsummer.

The four seasons passed by in the blink of an eye—the entire year flashing by like a fleeting cloud. Ning Tianlang failed to see his figure anywhere. All he saw from the beginning to the very end was his little girl, Ning Yu’er.

His thoughts returning to the present, Ning Tianlang let out a rueful smile. He yanked the pin out of the grenade and shoved it in his mouth with no hint of hesitation.

"Yu’er, I’m sorry. You suffered so much..."
