Chapter 188: Chapter 186 The Corpse Approaching the City_1

After Ah Fu disappeared, the soldiers on the zombie defense wall focused all their attention on the horde of zombies below, slowing their advance. However, the Level 2 Speed Zombie tossed inside by Ah Fu was still not dealt with.

Bang!

A soldier fired a cannon at the horde. As he was about to load the next round, a pitch-black claw reached the walkway of the zombie defense wall.

With a horrifying roar, the zombie climbed up, and the soldiers attacking it quickly retreated. Panic spread swiftly.

"The Level 2 zombie below has climbed up!"

"Request for backup!"

The Level 2 zombie tossed its body, throwing a soldier off with its enormous strength, then it slid forward, picked up a soldier who was loading the cannon, and threw him into the air.

The soldier spun in mid-air. The zombie opened its mouth wide, and the unfortunate soldier fell right into it.

Crunch, crunch...

A horrifying chewing sound came from its mouth. The other soldiers frowned, feeling a bit uncomfortable seeing their comrade being eaten. Yet, their firearms felt no discomfort and they kept on attacking the Level 2 zombie.

After it climbed up, the soldiers shooting the zombie horde also turned their guns towards it, firing smoking, flaming bullets.

But a Level 2 Speed Zombie was not to be underestimated. After devouring a soldier, it instantly headed towards the most populated area.

Squelch, squelch...

As it moved forward, bullets splashed blood from its body. It felt a great resistance, and with a crack, its arm couldn’t withstand the concentrated fire and was reduced to a pulp by the bullets!

However, the soldiers had no reason to rejoice because this Level 2 zombie was too close to them already.

Roar!

The Level 2 Speed Zombie let out an excited roar and crashed headlong into the soldiers, causing a deadly chaos!

One by one, soldiers were knocked off the zombie defense wall, ten meters high, and fell to their deaths. Some were directly killed by the zombie.

"Die!"

Saddened by witnessing their comrades’ deaths, a relatively young soldier turned the cannon towards it, which also attracted the zombie’s attention.

It sprinted towards the soldier. When it was about three or four meters away, the soldier pulled the cannon’s catch without hesitating and fired.

Firing a cannon at such close range would kill him even if the zombie died. But facing death, the soldier felt no fear. In fact, he felt an unusual pride as he laughed and said, "Hahaha, let’s die together! Long Live the Motherland!"

With that defiant yell, there followed a blinding flash of fire, and a deafening explosion. This young soldier met his end along with the Level 2 zombie!

A sergeant silently watched everything happen, his eyes moist with tears. He removed the emblem from his chest, took off his cap, and made a dignified salute.

This salute was for the soldier. His fearlessness was worthy of being recorded in history!

This salute was for all the brave warriors who gave their lives fighting the zombies!

This salute was a reflection of their abhorrence of the apocalyptic world, where so many innocent people had died in the disaster!

This soldier, with his life, put an end to the Level 2 zombie. But the explosion of the shell he fired blasted a hole in the defense wall.

The soldiers, full of rage, with bloodshot eyes, firmly gripped their guns. The bullets spewing from the guns vented their fury.

A building collapsed suddenly outside for some unknown reason, large chunks of concrete fell to the ground. The soldiers didn’t care; all they wanted was to slaughter these damn zombies!

In a place they couldn’t see, Ah Fu rose from the ground. Just now, it was attempting to scale a building, not expecting that the building was at the point of collapse, months prior to being bombarded by shells. Under its weight, the building collapsed like the final straw that breaks the camel’s back. With no noise, nor dismay, Ah Fu moved towards another building.

This building was somewhat more sturdy. Ah Fu took some time to climb it. After walking in a circle on the wall, it backward-jumped, clinging to another building.

It crawled feverishly upwards. When it reached the top, its figure was noticed by other soldiers.

"Look there! The zombie’s back!"

"Fire!"

Just after Ah Fu appeared, bullets flew right at it. It let out an angry roar and jumped down toward the ground!

Just then, a shell exploded where it had been standing, blowing a hole in the building.

"Where’s the quantum weapon?"

"It’s ready!"

"Fire!"

Whoosh!

A blue beam shot through, piercing Ah Fu who hadn’t reacted in time. Realizing there was a hole in its body, Ah Fu growled in anger, landing on all fours like a savage bull!

From its face, shoulders, chest, bone spurs protruded, intertwined into a three-meter large, and incredibly massive bone shovel. Roaring, it darted forward, avoiding the side buildings to shorten the distance between it and the zombie defense wall, leaving only fifty short meters.

"It’s charging!"

The soldiers looked increasingly frightened, at a loss with what to do, when suddenly there was a violent shake of the zombie defense wall!

Previously, during the cleanup of zombies to build the Yindan Base, the government had used shells to bomb and destroy many buildings around the defense wall, leaving only the barren ground.

Otherwise, Ah Fu could’ve easily jumped into the base from the nearest building.

Fifty meters did not stand for long. Ah Fu reached the bottom of the zombie defense wall after a short time. Its wildly rushing figure struck fear into others. Its bone shovel crashed into the wall of the zombie defense wall and created cracks and depressions.

Ah Fu was so close to the zombie defense wall that the cannons and quantum weapons aiming to attack it were helpless. Their gun barrels couldn’t lower to the footing of the zombie defense wall.

Even if they managed to aim it, they wouldn’t dare fire. Cannons and quantum weapons had enough power to kill this zombie but at the same time, they would destroy the foundations of the zombie defense wall.

They were caught between a rock and a hard place.

Several soldiers started to lose hope, thinking that the Yindan Base might not be able to hold out any longer. Some, unseen by their comrades, began trying to retreat to the bottom of the zombie defense wall.

But they hadn’t walked a few steps when shots rang out. The deserting soldiers got killed by ruthless bullets!

"Who dares to retreat today?!"
