Chapter 1570: Chapter 1564: Big Problem
At the exact moment Tang Ye shook his head, Lu Xiaojie pushed off hard with her legs, and her entire body lunged toward Tang Ye in a swift, predatory motion—an attack loaded with deadly intent!
Bang!
The very next second, a low thud echoed as Lu Xiaojie’s head slammed heavily into the wall. She had been aiming for Tang Ye, but when she pounced, Tang Ye—along with the chair he’d been sitting on—had completely vanished.
After colliding headlong with the wall, Lu Xiaojie seemed to feel no pain whatsoever. Realizing she had missed, she abruptly turned her head toward the adjacent wall, where Tang Ye and his fleshy chair had inexplicably reappeared.
Without a moment’s hesitation, she crouched low and lunged at Tang Ye again—her assault relentless! But just before she could touch him, Tang Ye, along with his chair, once again vanished. Lu Xiaojie immediately halted herself mid-lunge, avoiding another head-first collision with the wall. Turning swiftly, she saw Tang Ye had now appeared behind her!
Lu Xiaojie lunged again—and yet again, Tang Ye disappeared, leaving her swiping at empty air!
This time, her momentum was too much, and her body crashed hard into the wall. For an ordinary person, such an impact would have been excruciatingly painful, but Lu Xiaojie’s face remained expressionless. Her eyes burned with an inhuman ferocity. She turned, crouching low, and without pausing for even a fraction of a second, she charged at Tang Ye once more!
As before, right before she could reach him, Tang Ye vanished again, only to reappear in another location an instant later.
"I’ll give you what you want, but before that, you need to answer my questions. If you don’t, there’s no way you’re getting it," Tang Ye said slowly and deliberately. But Lu Xiaojie didn’t respond. She turned her body and sprang toward him again with the speed and grace of a hunting leopard, claws curved, aiming directly for Tang Ye’s head!
But Tang Ye vanished yet again, reappearing in another spot with his chair.
This time, Lu Xiaojie finally lost her composure. Lowering herself onto all fours like a starving wolf, her eyes gleamed with a faint, dangerous light as they locked onto Tang Ye’s face. Her throat trembled, and at last, she forced out a few guttural words.
"Give... me..."
Her voice was hoarse, her words distorted—barely understandable, like a child just learning to speak. Tang Ye was reminded of what it had been like when he had forced himself to talk back when he was at Level 2; his words back then had sounded just as garbled.
Tang Ye shook his head in response, his rejection unambiguous.
Seeing this, Lu Xiaojie opened her mouth wide and released a low growl—a desperate, guttural sound, like a cornered beast with nothing left to lose, willing to go down fighting!
Urgh~ Groarrr!
With a ferocious shout, Lu Xiaojie lunged again, her curved claws aiming straight for Tang Ye’s neck. Just as she was about to make contact, her fingers raked hard across the wall instead—Tang Ye had shifted slightly to the side, calmly observing her frantic state.
Grahhh!
With another growl, Lu Xiaojie’s other hand shot up, clawing toward Tang Ye’s face!
"You’re getting annoying," Tang Ye muttered irritably. He casually extended a hand, firmly catching Lu Xiaojie’s wrist. With a sharp motion, he hurled her to the side, her body slamming into the wall before sliding down in a heap.
Lu Xiaojie quickly flipped onto her stomach, her eyes feral as she glared at Tang Ye. Low growls escaped her throat in rapid succession.
Hrrgh~ Hrrgh~ Grahh!
The growls grew more savage and frenzied! Tang Ye sat silently in his chair, watching her reactions without making any further moves. It wasn’t long before something abnormal began to surface on Lu Xiaojie’s body. Bulging veins rose grotesquely on her neck, rapidly darkening from bluish-green to pure black. They were thick and worm-like, writhing as though alive.
Her calves began to bend unnaturally, while her fingernails extended visibly. The growls from her throat grew sharper, escalating steadily from hoarse to piercing.
At this sight, Tang Ye tilted his head slightly, intrigued. He sensed the aura emanating from Lu Xiaojie intensifying, her power escalating rapidly. In mere seconds, she had leapt from the level of an ordinary human to something approaching Level 4 strength.
While Level 4 was laughably insignificant in Tang Ye’s eyes—comparable to an ant—the sheer speed of this transformation was astonishing. In just a few heartbeats, she had undergone a change that was practically earth-shattering.
One question lingered in his mind: How was this possible?
Shifting back and forth between an ordinary person and a new species—it seemed inconceivable. How was Lu Xiaojie doing this, and what exactly was happening within her body?
Of course, Tang Ye himself could mimic the appearance of an ordinary human, but that was merely a facade. To others, he might look weak, but his strength remained firmly entrenched at Level 9.
He quickly reviewed his past experiences in the Dairya World. There had been moments when Lu Xiaojie mentioned that certain phenomena might be influenced by emotions. Could this be another case where emotional turbulence was triggering such drastic changes?
Grahh! Roarrr! ROOOARRR!
Lu Xiaojie let out a deafening bellow, her anguish and fury tearing from her throat like claws rending the air. Her aura continued to shift until it solidified at Level 4, seemingly reaching its peak. Having reached her limit, she fixed her glare on Tang Ye, let out a low growl, and exploded into motion. Instantly airborne, she hurtled toward Tang Ye with razor-sharp claws streaking down toward his face!
Tang Ye remained seated, unmoved. Lu Xiaojie, seemingly mindful of her earlier failures, kept her gaze locked on him, ready to counter any movement he might make. She was determined to land a decisive, lethal strike.
But it seemed she had misjudged. This time, Tang Ye didn’t evade. His eyes met hers as her claws neared his face. Just as she was about to land her blow, the wall behind him rippled and came to life. A single tentacle burst forth, wrapping around her neck in the blink of an eye before flinging her aside effortlessly!
"Stop wasting your energy," Tang Ye said calmly. "Here, even without me taking action, your strength alone isn’t even enough to touch me."
As he spoke, one hand brushed the armrest of his chair. The tentacle that had intervened wasn’t his own, but rather an extension of the Mother Nest—a primal defense mechanism triggered instinctively when it perceived its master was in danger.
Fortunately, the Mother Nest understood Tang Ye’s intentions. The tentacle had restrained itself, using only minimal force. Otherwise, Lu Xiaojie wouldn’t have even had the dignity of being reduced to a pile of shredded flesh.
The Mother Nest itself was massive beyond comprehension. To provide an accurate sense of its size, one would need to imagine the combined bulk of hundreds of thousands of zombified Ah Fus to even begin approximating it.
To put this into perspective: Ah Fu, in his most berserk, zombified state, could easily reach a height of nearly a hundred meters! Just envisioning the sheer enormity of the Mother Nest was mind-boggling.
