Chapter 1497: Chapter 1492: I am Li Henian
Watching Tang Ye still wearing a puzzled expression, Dairya seemed to grow impatient, her usually expressionless face now revealing a tinge of malevolence!
All of a sudden, she opened her mouth wide, her body slightly leaning backward, letting out a screech sharp as a night owl, as waves of sound surged through the space in front of Tang Ye!
"Damn!"
In that instant, Tang Ye felt as if countless blades stuffed his ears, stabbing his eardrums into a mess riddled with holes! Having just let out an angry roar, Tang Ye was blasted backwards by the waves of sound!
Crash!
Tang Ye slammed hard against the pitch-black wall, sliding down it, and before he could stand up, Dairya in front of him actually raised her hand. Strangely, despite all other parts of her body being obscured by the absolute black of the wall, her hand wasn’t obstructed, whereas all around him were "walls"!
As she moved, Tang Ye, who was on her hand, was lifted along with it. He watched as that enormous head got closer and closer, and then she opened her mouth once more. This time, Tang Ye saw clearly that the rows of teeth in Dairya’s mouth were not those of a normal person, but rows of sharp fangs, glinting with a cold light!
The storm of sound waves rolled up by that night-owl-like scream came rushing back, and Tang Ye felt a gargantuan force acting upon every part of his body! Compressing every inch of his flesh!
Tang Ye quickly covered his ears, instinctively bending forward, wholeheartedly resisting the influence of the sound waves emitted by Dairya, his face gradually revealing an expression of agony as he began to let out successive hoarse screams!
"Come at me... come on!"
With a furious bellow, the flesh around his ears squirmed, blocking the ear canals, shutting off his hearing. His body, which had been bent over by the impact of the sound waves, slowly stood upright again.
Realizing that her sonic magic couldn’t affect Tang Ye, Dairya closed her mouth, tilted her head back, and actually began chanting. Before long, a beam of purple light appeared behind her in the seemingly endless darkness. The light, like a crack on a wall, began to tear everything open, revealing an even stranger space, and from within this space, one after another, thick arms extended!
Soon, these arms filled the cracks, and the chanting coming from Dairya’s mouth also began to show a chorus effect, as if there were countless Dairya’s singing! The sturdy arms that emerged from the crack behind her clenched their fists and hammered down on Tang Ye like rain!
Boom! Boom!
Huge noises erupted consecutively, with Tang Ye being slammed against the wall again and again, yet the absolutely black wall underwent no damage at all!
The chanting grew louder and louder; although Tang Ye could no longer hear the sounds, Dairya’s abilities seemed to possess a penetrating power. The sounds were silent to him, but he still felt their effects!
Visions began to appear in his eyes: he saw those arms halting their assault, and parts of the surrounding darkness began to separate, forming all sorts of things like clouds in the sky.
Such as stuffed animals, certain furniture and kitchenware, a great variety, countless. These were all tools used by people in their daily lives before the Apocalypse, but in the end, these things began to vanish, and he seemed to see certain memories. However, these memories were fragmented and short, yet there were many of them.
He saw several children looking down at him, each stretching out a hand towards him. Initially, Tang Ye did not react, not until he felt a burning pain on his face. Only then did he realize the children were actually slapping him. Tang Ye seemed to have forgotten where he was just a second ago. The pain on his face suddenly triggered his bloodthirsty zombie instinct, and he subconsciously wanted to tear these bratty kids to shreds.
But it was only when he discovered he couldn’t control his body to do as he wished that he realized these were someone else’s memories. Coming to his senses, he saw the bratty kids start to tear at his clothes. Looking down, Tang Ye realized he was actually wearing a pink dress. The dress was thin and filthy, and the surrounding environment seemed to be a toilet?
"Dairya’s memories?"
Tang Ye recalled one of the regulations, which seemed to indicate that the toilet was a forbidden place?
Was it because of this?
From a first-person perspective, Tang Ye watched as the bratty kids quickly ripped half of Dairya’s clothes off. Yet just at that moment, the scene shifted, and he found himself lying on a bed of sand and stones, with the scenery around him gradually shifting. Moving his view, he saw a man gripping the collar of his (Dairya’s) clothing, dragging forward.
Before long, the scene shifted again, he saw a mirror. Reflected in the mirror was Dairya’s face, still young with tears at the corners of her eyes. He watched her pick up an old, rusty pair of scissors, cutting towards her own hair, and in the next second, the scene changed yet again!
Like this, countless fragmented memories appeared in his field of vision! Sometimes it was a crowd of adults huddled together, picking up stones from the ground and throwing them at a certain place, yelling as if cursing; the stones they threw injured the person being hit. Other times he saw a man drinking a glass of water, looking at him with a strange gaze, and at times he saw armed people passing by his side, one of whom suddenly pointed a pitch-black gun muzzle at him!
There were many such memories, but they were very short, mostly like video clips of just a few seconds, some were only a few frames of images, and even some were just still pictures!
All in all, as Dairya, Tang Ye played out these memories in a first-person perspective, and everything he saw, he could feel Dairya’s emotions at that time—the panic, unease, and fear. The dread of living each day on edge, experiencing the feeling that no matter how desperately you try to evade, all the terrifying things will eventually find you at a certain moment!
This feeling seemed to erode Tang Ye’s heart, making him as panicked as Dairya, gradually filling his heart with deep resentment!
Tang Ye began to struggle, refusing to understand Dairya’s experiences! He wanted to resist, subconsciously recalling memories that belonged to himself. These past memories emerged, and he wanted to shout out his own name, but hesitated for a moment.
"I... I am Li Henian!"
In a critical moment, Tang Ye could not care so much, for him, he might not be Li Henian, but Li Henian was definitely himself! He began to repeat "I am Li Henian" over and over again, this seemed to have some effect. Beneath countless fragments of chaotic memories, he saw that space with Dairya’s huge figure!
And as the other side chanted, his eyes unconsciously turned blood red, filled with naked malice, and he opened his bloody mouth, biting towards Tang Ye!
