Chapter 1438: Chapter 1433: Should Not Exist
After opening the UC, Tang Ye restrained himself from checking the browsing history and directly entered the text: [What happens after dark?]
He typed it in, clicked on the "magnifying glass", and as the mobile interface switched, Tang Ye’s facial expression also slightly changed to a puzzled look. The answer he was searching for didn’t match what appeared on his screen; it was just some authorized regulations about other areas. Tang Ye looked at a few of them, mostly consistent with the notices he saw on the first floor, with just minor differences.
Among them, he saw a post with the most views and comments relating to the rules about the Lan Ou Region. It mentioned a profession called Banisher, whose job was to seal off all churches; any building resembling a place for conversation will be sealed off immediately in the Lan Ou Region!
Moreover, it was clearly specified that the presence of missionaries, believers, and nuns were allowed, but churches were not permitted!
Once a church appeared and was discovered, it would be sealed off right away!
Tang Ye scrolled down for a while and saw a similar topic:
[What happens if the rules are violated?]
This post didn’t have many views and had only one reply, which was a dog head emoji, leaving its meaning unclear.
Tang Ye frowned, and was about to search again, but after typing a few letters, he thought of something and entered the word [church] in the search box.
Subsequently, the mobile interface switched. Viewing the results he searched for, Tang Ye’s frown deepened. Regarding church, there were indeed similar topics posted, such as one: [Why are churches sealed off?]
The responses below this topic were also ambiguous and illogical but expressed a consistent message.
Reply: [Church is forbidden. If encountered, follow the local regulations.]
Reply: [Churches should not exist!]
Seeing these responses, Tang Ye had only one thought: If they shouldn’t exist, then who built them?
Thus, he entered in the search box: [When were churches built?]
He expected that the big data would give him the taken-for-granted construction and completion dates of some famous churches, but after the interface switched, he saw a blank page.
[Sorry, no search results.]
Seeing these words, Tang Ye wanted to explode—it was utterly absurd!
In the normal pre-apocalyptic world, any search engine no matter how trivial the question would have answers, yet such a simple question had no results?
There were only two reasons: either all information about this was handled by a special department, or in this world’s people’s understanding, it was dangerous at night, churches should not appear, and this was taken for granted without surprise.
Like a person used to drinking muddy water, seeing water as dirt-yellow or algae-green and never having seen clean water, would consider yellow or green water normal. If one day they saw clear water, they might think it a poisonous liquid and be extremely surprised to see others drink it.
Do people here not see the real normal night, so they think the night here is normal?
Of course, that would be fine by itself, but the problem is that no one seems curious about it?
This clearly doesn’t make sense!
Some might think the night holds no danger, and all the terror stems from self-fear invoked by the notices on the rules, as any normal person would be unnerved upon first seeing such rules, resulting in significant psychological stress.
However, such induced fear had a minimal effect on Tang Ye, believing all fear comes from insufficient firepower. His firepower would be substantial during this period, unless he lost too much vitality, sunk deeply into despondence, or if a Zombie King Level creature personally came into the Cloud Gorge Base area to grind him down; otherwise, it would be tough to kill him, let alone cleanly.
Probably remembering something, Tang Ye experienced that forgotten feeling once again.
Having experienced this feeling repeatedly, Tang Ye himself had realized that this sense as if his thoughts were restricted by something, unable to think further, was like being forcibly corrected for a "bad" habit, and once habituated to acting out, he would receive this seemingly trivial "punishment."
And Tang Ye’s feeling was just like seeing a dirty floor and wanting to grab a broom the next second to clean it, but thoughts abruptly go blank, and then he couldn’t remember what he wanted to do.
Holding his phone while lying on the bed, browsing for a while, the network on it was identical to the pre-apocalyptic except for not finding what he wanted; military, celebrity scandals were all the same—if Tang Ye hadn’t known this world was off, if fake, he would have thought those online commenters were normal people!
But whether or not they were normal people Tang Ye didn’t know, only after figuring everything out could he redefine them.
This world, proven by his memory, doesn’t exist; if everything was true, even someone behind the scenes with great capabilities couldn’t create so many living beings, right? If so, they can’t be defined as zombies but as a creator! That would be an omnipotent god!
Remembering the creator, Tang Ye thought of that painting, a giant in a white robe stabs a cross into the ground. What was this painting trying to convey?
And certainly, there is a connection between churches and the creator!
Rubbing his fingers, Tang Ye opened UC again and searched for Jehovah, the god of Western religion. The first search result showed a Western man with a beard wearing a white robe, comparing it with the painting in his memory; the person in this image of God was exactly like the one he saw in the painting!
"Could the Nightmare Zombie King be a follower of God? But if so, why would he create this world?"
Thinking of the people’s deep aversion to churches, Tang Ye became even more puzzled; if the Nightmare Zombie King was a follower of Jehovah, shouldn’t what he saw here be more about the flourishing of Western religions?
Quickly, Tang Ye’s face showed a hint of a smile; he seemed to be confused whether Jehovah was Christian or Catholic...
Originally wanting to understand more about Western religion, seeing only 5% battery left on his phone, he sighed and decided to abandon these thoughts.
"Maybe tomorrow, I should buy a charger."
