Chapter 124: Chapter 121: Deterrence has increased considerably_1

Mutant zombies are tough to deal with. Of course, except for those with overwhelming power, if one would use appropriate tactics, it’s likely to take them down. But the prerequisite is avoiding getting caught by them. If you’re gripped by a mutant zombie, you might as well consider yourself dead.

Of course, the Evolution Crystals obtained from the brains of mutant zombies are more valuable than the ordinary ones.

Meanwhile, Tang Ye, now a Level 3 zombie, is moving at a lightning-fast pace. His speed now surprises even himself as he can match a speeding bullet train with a simple stride!

Circling around a building and landing on a highway bridge, he uses his powerful body to smash through the guardrail and plunge towards the ground.

Splat! Splat!

The moment Tang Ye’s feet leave the ground, two blood-red tendrils sprout from the back of his neck. They pierce into the pillars on either side of the bridge, effortlessly anchoring his head in place and supporting his body as it swings dangles above the ground.

He is now on the edge of Hua City. Although he has come to Hua City before, he is not familiar with the roads. He can only look around randomly, hoping to find a place to get a mask.

The wind whistles past his ears, blowing his unkempt, unkempt hair that hadn’t been trimmed for four months.

Zombies on the ground look up and roar one after another at Tang Ye’s fleeting figure, as if they recognize him as a human rather than one of their own!

However, hearing these roars was like hearing the cheer of subjects for their king for Tang Ye. It made his heart stir.

"These zombies don’t seem so despicable... at least... I can control them."

Feeling that he was getting farther and farther away from Chen Chaoyang and the others, in order not to lose his way, Tang Ye marked the coordinates of a large building and controlled the two tendrils to loosen their grip.

Thud!

Tang Ye’s body plunges dramatically and his feet stomp onto the ground, causing cracks to form. He then heads towards a street.

The surrounding zombies back off after recognizing Tang Ye as one of their own and much stronger than themselves. A mass of zombies even clear a path for him.

Tang Ye couldn’t help but sigh a relief, acknowledging that these zombies were helpful.

They understand the importance of respecting the powerful.

Masks are usually sold in toy stores. However, after conspiring with fortune, Tang Ye spotted a wooden mask in a boutique shop dedicated to selling wooden crafts.

Seeing this, Tang ye was thrilled. He walked into the store and grabbed the mask. It had a red painted demonic face with gnashing teeth. It suited his zombie persona, winning his instant liking.

Unable to resist, he tried it on. Looking at his reflection in a mirror, he decided the look worked and headed for the exit.

As he stepped out, a gust of cold wind lifted the corner of his tunic. Ominous clouds shrouded the sun, plunging street into darkness. As a result, Tang Ye looked like a demon crawling out of hell.

Taking a few more steps forward, Tang Ye lowered his head to look at his bare feet. His post-evolution increase in height, he was now two meters tall, only a tad shorter than Yao Ming, had made it easier for him to find clothes but choosing shoes for his large feet was proving to be quite a hassle.

All this while, Tang Ye had walked barefoot. But now to infiltrate Yindan Base, his bare feet which were a combination of pale skin contrasted with dark purple lines, were out in the open. They seemed so unnatural, anyone looking would be able to tell he was a zombie.

"Where can I find shoes suitable for my size?"

Tang Ye pondered as he ambled in a certain direction, hoping luck would be on his side.

As he walked, he thought about what he should say once inside Yindan Base. Would it be awkward to say "see you again"?

With these thoughts, Tang Ye started to feel anxious. He was trying hard to figure out what he would say to Ning Yu’er, what he would do, and where he would go after accomplishing his mission. After all, as a zombie, he could no longer spend the rest of his existence in human society.

He despised his zombie existence, but he knew, if given a chance to turn back time, he would still choose to be a zombie again. Because without alienating as a zombie, he would have been trapped in that small rented apartment or might have been bitten by a zombie while hunting for food.

He might never have had an opportunity to see Ning Yu’er.

Being a zombie has its pros and cons, but the pros outweigh the cons!

Roar!

A zombie’s growl reached Tang Ye’s ears, immediately grabbing his attention.

"Help! Help! Save me!"

A ragged woman, her hair messily clumped together as if unwashed for months, screamed and charged from around a corner. Catching sight of Tang Ye, she beamed, treating him as her last ray of hope and ran towards him!

"Please save me, I don’t want to die!"

Roar!

Just then, a huge figure emerged from around the corner. Standing three meters tall, the zombie’s back bristled with irregular spikes. An eerie lump of flesh hung beneath its evolved shoulder, bouncing with each step it took.

Tang Ye sensed the aura, it was undoubtedly a Level 2 zombie! The woman who was running towards him was clueless that he was a zombie due to his tidy clothes and mask.

She fell to Tang Ye’s feet, seeking refuge behind him and cried out, "Help, zombie!"

Her screams attracted all the zombies on the street. One after another, they gathered towards Tang Ye. With no open path to escape, she could only place hope on this ’mysterious’ masked man.

In this post-apocalyptic world, zombies are no joke. A single careless moment could cost a life. Anyone brave enough to roam outside must certainly be a new human!

Tang Ye glanced at her with squinted eyes, and wondered whether he should save her. If he saved her and she started following him around, it would only cause him trouble. It might be better if he just killed her himself!

After, having been a zombie for a while, Tang Ye’s respect for human life had become blurry.

Tang Ye extended his hand and it gradually took shape into a blade. As he prepared to strike, the horde of zombies surrounding him halted their advance and did not dare to take a step further. The only noise came from their roaring at the woman.

Tang Ye was taken aback when he witnessed this.

After evolving into a Level 3 zombie, his intimidation towards zombies of lower levels seemed to have increased significantly...
