I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 1158 - 1153: Who Could it Be?
Chapter 1158: Chapter 1153: Who Could it Be?
"But that didn’t mean they could keep moving for much longer. Before they could even react to the situation, they saw a figure appear before them like a ghost, fingers bent into claws, reaching straight for their chests!"
The B-class exoskeleton battle suit was twisted out of shape in an instant before a Level 7 New Human!
Meanwhile, the remaining Level 6 New Humans took out similar weapons and charged towards the surviving soldiers!
Under the sharp blades, even the Victorious exoskeleton battle suits couldn’t withstand the edge, slicing through their defenses with ease and claiming lives effortlessly.
In no time, the entire defending force was annihilated here, and the corpses scattered all around. Residents from the United District who rushed over to check out the situation were shocked by the horrific scene and hastily fled with their companions back the way they came.
Fortunately, these eight identical individuals didn’t care about the residents and didn’t pursue them to kill.
As the last soldier lost his life and slumped to the ground, one of the Level 7 New Humans looked up towards the direction of the East.
After two or three seconds, he raised a hand, pointing in the direction he was looking at, and spoke indifferently, with no trace of human emotion in his voice,
"There, there’s a lot of enhanced cell activity."
"Let’s go."
Without saying much, the eight individuals headed in that direction.
Meanwhile, on the other side, just seconds before the alarm at the East Zombie Wall went off, Tang Ye, Xu Haishui, Ah Fu, and all the Level 6 New Humans present sensed a powerful surge of new human blood qi coming from a distance.
Consequently, the Dead Knight Corps, which was supposed to practice on time, halted completely.
"Someone’s coming."
"I feel it."
"Probably a lot of people have died," Xu Haishui said, frowning. The blood qi was turbulent, and as zombies, they could clearly sense the blood qi of living beings; a fight had already broken out over there.
Tang Ye looked in that direction but didn’t finish speaking. The strange blood qi was so evident to his senses. If these newcomers meant harm, it was likely that the guard force on the East Zombie Wall had already been wiped out.
This blood qi was no longer at Level 6 but Level 7!
And, it seemed, there was more than one Level 7!
"Two? Who could it be?" Tang Ye pondered, quickly thinking of a name.
"Lin Jie?" But soon after, he shook his head. Speaking of Lin Jie, to this day Tang Ye was still puzzled. He was supposed to have been infected by Tang Ye, which would mean he couldn’t have survived more than two days, and on the morning at around ten o’clock the day after Lin Jie escaped,
Tang Ye sensed a new follower somewhere in Longyang City and sent people to look for him. However, this sensation lasted only five or six minutes before this sudden new follower disappeared without a trace. And the people Tang Ye had sent to the specified location found no high-level zombies there.
Could it be that he had not become a zombie after being infected? Tang Ye thought it was possible, but that also seemed unlikely, given that since the apocalypse began, no one had been able to escape mutation after having been infected with the infectious anti-life substance.
If someone had, they would certainly have been pursued relentlessly, not for anything else, but because a person who could escape a zombie infection would hold great research value.
If Lin Jie had escaped infection, was he coming for revenge?
But on second thought, that seemed unlikely. Coming to the Central District for revenge at this time, wouldn’t that be suicide?
If not, then who were these two Level 7 New Humans, and why would they attack the United District?
Everything needs a motive, of course. In the post-apocalyptic world, as long as one is powerful enough, there is no need for a motive to act on a whim, just for a moment of pleasure. But one should choose their target wisely, usually those weaker survivor bases, generally Grade C or lower. However, a superpower like the Central District, famous even on a global scale, attacking such a force—what was it if not courting death?
"Yaya, why are you here? Didn’t I tell you to stay at home?"
As Tang Ye pondered, a man’s voice rang out in alarm nearby. Tang Ye turned to look – it was a man dressed in the uniform of a Mercenary Group, and the Yaya he referred to must be the fearless little girl by his side.
He stood in the distance, wary to approach, with a look of disbelief that his daughter was in the company of the Marshal of the Central District, feeling as if he were living in a dream—only to be overcome by deep fear.
Such is the fearlessness of the young, his daughter completely unaware of the caliber of the person standing beside her!
"Daddy!" The moment the little girl named Yaya saw the man, she ran over smiling, and the man embraced her tightly, his face full of anger as if unhappy with her for sneaking out from home.
"Didn’t I tell you all to play at home? Why’d you all run out and make a mess?"
The minute he embraced the little girl, these were the man’s first words. Upon hearing them, the smile fell from the little girl’s face, sensing she had done something wrong, and she lowered her head, not daring to speak.
However, soon the other children who had come with Yaya spoke up, "This uncle brought us here."
The man looked at Tang Ye, overwhelmed, and quickly smiled appeasingly, his face suffused with ingratiation.
He patted Yaya, barked, "Have you thanked your uncle?"
With his prompt, Yaya realized she had missed something. Along with the other children, she hurriedly chirped to Tang Ye, "Thank you, Uncle."
Tang Ye smiled and nodded, seeing that Ah Fu had already organized the Dead Knight Corps to head towards the direction where the battle in the East had erupted, his eyes narrowing.
Stepping forward, the man spoke with gratitude, "Marshal, I really appreciate your help."
"No problem," Tang Ye responded casually, then added, "Get them out of here first. It’s going to be dangerous soon."
Tang Ye couldn’t be bothered to keep talking to the man and so hurried him along. The man, knowing the gravity of the situation, quickly led the group of children towards the direction where the crowd was dispersing.
’There’s been a special situation today, the exercise is cancelled, please hurry back to a safe place to avoid casualties later on.’
An officer in front stepped up with a megaphone and shouted, coordinating with the soldiers below to disperse the crowd, while on the other side, with an order from Chen Zhou’an, all the soldiers of the Eighth Army Corps mounted their zombie beasts and rushed towards the East.
