Chapter 1113: Chapter 1110 Everything Has Changed

"Psh, evolve to Level 4 first before you talk."

"I’m tired of Snow Moon Pavilion. The new little place on the south side of Central United District seems better?"

"That little place?"

"I think it’s called Xifeng or something."

"I know that place, it’s opened by the vice president."

"Hehehe..."

"Let’s go. Let’s head inside..."

A few short-sleeved soldiers chatted and laughed, occasionally letting out extremely sleazy laughs, before walking into the dormitory.

As the men entered the dormitory, the first thing they noticed were the two empty beds at the back. They fell silent for a moment, then noticed Xiao Hu sitting on the lower bunk to the right.

Suddenly, the smiles on their faces froze, they stopped talking, and their eyes were filled with disgust. Their previously good mood, upon seeing something inauspicious, soured entirely.

When Xiao Hu saw them coming in, he quickly lifted his head, and their smiles vanished instantly before him.

"Let’s go wash up."

One of them said coldly, as if he didn’t recognize Xiao Hu at all.

The others nodded, not sparing Xiao Hu a glance, took large strides forward, picked up their basins, grabbed various toiletries, and walked out together.

"Wait for me!" Xiao Hu hurriedly called out.

Then he took his toiletries from under his bed and quickly followed the others. Old Cao, who was walking at the back, glanced at Xiao Hu, frowned slightly, and shared a look with the men in front.

Soon, one of them looked up at the ceiling as if there was something there, then waved his hand dismissively and said with disdain, "I won’t wash!"

"Yeah, let’s just sleep. There’s always some annoying tag-along messing with my mood."

The men grumbled impatiently, their tones devoid of the casual banter from earlier and much more decisive, as if they were facing an enemy.

When people encounter an enemy, they feel irritated, even to the point of wanting to kill!

So, everyone turned and entered the dormitory, walking past Xiao Hu. One of them even bumped Xiao Hu’s shoulder with great force as they passed by, knocking Xiao Hu to the ground, where he clutched his shoulder and whimpered.

"You guys..." Xiao Hu’s eyes were full of grievance, but he understood that all this was because of himself.

Ding Fulong was a good man with a lot of integrity and impeccable character, and even in this apocalyptic world, he managed to get along with everyone and treat his own people extremely well. But when faced with enemies, he could be terrifyingly cruel.

Such a person could easily be the protagonist in a novel.

Everyone could see for themselves that, instead of relying on someone else, trusting Ding Fulong had been the most reliable decision.

But such a person had died, and it was all because of Xiao Hu himself. Perhaps it was his weakness that brought on the bullying, and it was just his luck to meet someone like Ding Fulong, who would help him to the point of committing murder, leading to his own death.

Xiao Hu felt guilty too. If there were people in this world he respected, there were only three: his parents and Ding Fulong, the first person who was willing to help him in the face of injustices.

But now, such a person was dead.

And with Ding Fulong gone, many who saw him as their one and only good "big brother" harbored hatred because Ding Fulong had died because of Xiao Hu!

They believed it was all Xiao Hu’s fault!

Perhaps it was Xiao Hu’s nature that destined him to be bullied; he was weak and cowardly, so much so that even after Ding Fulong’s death, during the inquiry, he didn’t dare to speak the truth. The reason was laughable—he was afraid of being bullied even more if he told the truth.

Thinking too much, he believed that even if he told the truth, he would not find another person like Ding Fulong to help him. So, he chose his own thoughts, believing them to be correct.

But often people like Xiao Hu who overthink things end up trying to please everyone, only to be seen as bumbling fools on stage, eliciting laughter from the audience below.

Xiao Hu also realized that it was due to his nature, and he really wanted to change.

But as the saying goes, a state can be refurbished, but nature is hard to change.

Even with the determination to change, when faced with situations, he still could not help but be indecisive.

"Sleep, sleep!"

Bang! Bang bang bang! With Dormitory Leader Wang Dabiao’s voice, the others tossed their toiletries haphazardly onto the shelf. Their actions were aggressive, clearly intending to ostracize Xiao Hu, not caring for his thoughts at all. To them, Xiao Hu was nothing more than a jinx, better off getting out of this dormitory as soon as possible!

Old Cao walked over to the light switch, turned off the light, and Xiao Hu tried to put his toiletries back, but Old Cao pushed him back.

"What are you doing?"

"Brother Cao, it’s too messy over there. Dormitory Leader will penalize us during inspection." Xiao Hu pointed to the basin shelf on the side and spoke cautiously, hoping his words would regain some favor from those present, but people simply didn’t care for him, thinking he was deluding himself.

"None of your damn business! Hurry up and get back to your bed and sleep!"

Old Cao roared angrily, attracting the attention of the soldiers on guard outside.

"Hey, brother, keep it down, you can argue but don’t freaking fight. We know your issues, don’t make it hard for us."

Old Cao glanced out the window, his thunderous shout heard by those outside, then he pushed Xiao Hu back onto the bed, walked to the window, and put on a broad, bright smile.

"It’s nothing, just fooling around."

"That’s good, be careful, don’t make too much of a fuss inside." The soldier downstairs laughed back.

"Understood." Old Cao nodded, pulled his head back in, climbed into bed, covered himself with the blanket, and started to snore loudly.

Xiao Hu looked around from his bunk; the lights were off, everyone was in bed, heads covered with blankets, as if they didn’t want to see anything.

In the past when Ding Fulong was still here, the dorm never slept this early, usually not until one or two in the morning. Ding Fulong would get along with the dormitory leaders, and even if caught, they would join in to play cards, have hotpot, and the dorm atmosphere was great.

But after Ding Fulong’s death, everything changed.
