Ah Fu’s voice startled the people around him, even the soldiers beside him stared at him in confusion.

"What’s going on?" Little Wu looked puzzled, finding the situation strange.

"Move quickly! Disperse these people, retreat to the back!" Ah Fu shouted, but his face remained calm.

Since Ah Fu was not panicking, his demeanor did not incite panic among the people. Even the soldiers were scratching their heads, half-heartedly dispersing the crowd, and the people lazily moved back.

"Hmm?" Ah Fu surveyed the surroundings and angrily said, "If anyone wants to die here, then don’t move!"

His words truly had a deterring effect, frightening the people into moving faster. However, some still did not take it seriously and slowly dragged themselves, spurred by the lethargic urging of the soldiers.

Ah Fu snorted coldly, no longer reminding them. He had just seen several insects fall from Xu Haishui’s body. While these insects posed no threat to him as a zombie, they were lethally threatening to humans and other living beings!

"Hey, look, what are those things in front?"

About a minute later, someone in the front spotted several strange insects inside the defense line. They were long, with their entire bodies covered in oval armor, the length of an adult’s fingers, and entirely black. Under the nascent sunlight, they emitted not a single gleam of light.

Initially, people were puzzled and didn’t understand what these creatures were. The number of these bizarre insects was not numerous and seemed barely a hundred.

Just when the people near the defense line noticed the insects, the next second, screams erupted.

"Ugh!"

"Help! These damn things are burrowing into my feet!"

"Damn, this thing is also burrowing into my skin!"

"Save me! Save me!"

As screams resounded around him, Ah Fu merely snickered. No matter how much he warned, some people would never listen. Only when disaster struck them personally did they take heed. But in an apocalypse, any mistake could be irrevocable; one error could send you to the underworld!

It wouldn’t grant you a chance to continue living, to reflect upon this grueling ordeal in the future!

The insects that emerged from Xu Haishui were indeed few, but what was visible and invisible to the people, when combined, amounted to over a hundred. Their emergence did not alert the people until it was too late.

As they approached the people, uncertainty about what these creatures were prompted everyone to step back. However, when the insects were still a distance away, they leaped onto people, piercing their skin with sharp mouthparts under the horrified gazes, and burrowed into their bodies.

Within seconds of the insects entering their bodies, effects manifested.

Those penetrated by the insects soon started convulsing, their bodies twitching wildly, white foam gushing from their mouths. Their skin decayed and darkened within seconds, every blood vessel in their bodies bulging, turning from blue to blood-red, covering their flesh.

Their outer skin, along with the muscle fibers beneath, split apart, revealing strands of crimson flesh that resembled sea anemones extending their tiny tendrils to capture prey.

Suddenly, the victims’ screams incessantly reached the ears of others who were spared, causing a chilling sensation. Only then did they realize the gravity of the situation.

The victims, from rotting flesh to exploding exteriors, became neither human nor ghost-like, blood spraying and bursting, staining patches of red across the ground.

People began to run faster towards the back, terrified by the sight of the victims.

All this seemed lengthy in description, but it was only a minute’s time; within that minute, the strange insects that had appeared from Xu Haishui had completely entered the bodies of the people. Those infected morphed into monstrous aberrations within mere seconds, resembling the mutated creatures.

Upon their emergence, they bellowed at people, merged together, and their flesh reconstituted into tentacles that lunged at people. Many were caught off-guard and were impaled immediately, while some powerful newcomers reacted swiftly, chopping off the attacking tentacles with a few slashes of their weapons.

Meanwhile, in the distance, Xu Haishui abruptly turned his head to look beyond the defense line at the people, his eyes blood-red without a trace of sanity. He didn’t roar or flaunt his strength. Instead, he stepped towards the defense line, each step causing the red patterns on his body to emit bursts of light.

Step by step, as he walked on the rubble and cracked earth of the destroyed Building, a crunching sound echoed, his vision as red as his eyes!

Gradually, he saw the defense line, the people beyond it, and the alert Peace Party soldiers.

"What is that thing?"

"Is it a zombie?"

"I don’t know."

"I have a bad feeling."

"I do too."

From Xu Haishui, people sensed an oppressive aura, as if there was something unsettling about him, causing an involuntary shudder upon sight. Moreover, his eyes were alarmingly luminescent.

Whenever Xu Haishui took a step forward, the people outside the defense line instinctively stepped back, while the infected aberrations inside screamed and charged at them. However, unlike previous mutations that could convert a person with a mere touch, Xu Haishui’s creatures needed to inflict physical harm to transform a person into a grotesque aberration.

Xu Haishui paused after walking a certain distance. Inside, Ah Fu kept his gaze on Xu Haishui, but as time passed, his frown deepened. In Xu Haishui’s eyes, Ah Fu could not see any trace of the man he once knew. Aside from an almost insane killing intent, there was nothing else. He appeared calm, but only the devil knew what he might do next.

He seemed to be in a state of frenzy.
