Chapter 11: Tang Ye Finds a Gun_1
Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Tang Ye Finds a Gun_1
Fu Xinkun climbed onto an outside air conditioner, and within seconds, the screams from his underlings echoed from the room window. He didn’t look back. He grabbed a large water pipe and climbed up like a monkey clambering up a tree until he steadied himself on another air conditioner.
Before Tang Ye even entered the building, he saw Fu Xinkun escaping through a window.
"This guy’s pretty good!" Tang Ye thought, admiring his agility. However, this didn’t reduce his hatred for the man who’d left him disfigured.
He was aware of the screams coming from within the apartment, and had a basic idea of the situation.
He looked contemptuously at Fu Xinkun’s retreating form, the corners of his lips curling into a cold sneer. "Heh, you want to survive? Let’s see if I agree with that."
He quickened his steps and entered the apartment building. Since the henchmen who’d been tagging along with Fu Xinkun were now dead, he could take their guns. He wanted to give the man in black a taste of a few bullets.
He didn’t want to kill him with one shot. Rather, he wanted to shoot his hands and feet, leaving him incapacitated, until the zombies got to him!
Fu Xinkun, standing on an air conditioning unit, checked the roof. This six-story building had been cleared of all zombies by them yesterday. However, now that zombies had infiltrated it again, he couldn’t be sure if other floors remained zombie-free. He didn’t want to fight. Gunfire would attract more zombies. As for close combat? Too risky. One scratch could lead to an infection. Thus, it was too dangerous and unpredictable!
Upon reaching the third floor, Tang Ye found a giant zombie stuck at the top of the stairwell, which gave him an idea.
What would happen if someone ate the brain of a powerful zombie like this one? Would they end up like it?
Suddenly, a glint sparkled in Tang Ye’s eyes. He didn’t know what had turned this zombie into what it was now, but at the moment, he wanted to crack open its skull!
With this thought stuck in his mind, Tang Ye retrieved the crowbar from his back and slowly approached the hulking zombie. He felt an irresistible pull towards the zombie’s skull, a pull that seemed to emanate from the very core of its brain.
The giant zombie seemed entirely unaware of the danger it was in. It continued headbutting the low eaves as though its skull were made of iron.
Tang Ye went behind it, raised the crowbar, and realized he could barely reach its posterior skull.
"I have to kill it with one shot," thought Tang Ye, his brow furrowing. "If I don’t, will this giant zombie go berserk and kill me first?"
After contemplating for a while, he went downstairs, dragged up a rotten cabinet, climbed on it, and compared the heights.
"Let’s go!" Tang Ye placed the rotten cabinet next to the zombie. The creature didn’t even glance at him. Given its lack of intelligence, it absolutely couldn’t comprehend what Tang Ye was up to!
Standing on the cabinet, he raised his crowbar, hardened his gaze, and forcefully swung down.
Let’s die! Roar!
Consuming the brain of a zombie as potent as this one would definitely provide him with a tremendous amount of energy. Excited at the prospect, Tang Ye rammed the hook end of the crowbar into the giant zombie’s skull!
Bang!
Tang Ye felt massive resistance at the impact, as if he’d struck a rock. His crowbar’s hook managed to penetrate the skull but the zombie was still alive!
Sensing imminent danger, Tang Ye jumped off the cabinet with the intention of escaping. However, the giant zombie paid him no heed. Still, its massive, bloody head kept on butting the eaves. Its black and red blood smeared all over the edge.
Seeing this, Tang Ye sneered, returned to the cabinet, and climbed on top.
"Tsk, no-brainer. Probably won’t even know when it dies!"
He picked up the crowbar and struck the same spot, the hole caused by his previous blow.
Bang!
A jet of black blood spurted out, and the giant zombie paused, blankly eyeing the edge it had been headbutting. Then, it started ramming once again.
Thud!
That was its last headbutt. Afterward, its colossal body collapsed to the ground. Tang Ye’s heart was filled with glee. He instantly leaped off the cabinet and rushed to perform a craniotomy!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
After several strikes with considerable force, Tang Ye finally managed to crack the giant zombie’s skull. However, upon seeing the contents, his face instantly turned grim.
"What’s this? Such a big head and this is all I get?"
Tang Ye, displeased, grumbled about the blackened, shriveled brain of the giant zombie. Any random zombie’s fresh brain would be preferable to this shriveled specimen.
Why was its brain like this? Was it because of stupidity? But he’d never known other zombies to be particularly intelligent either!
Tang Ye felt a sense of loss. However, the next second, he squinted suspiciously at the black, shriveled brain of the giant zombie.
Is there something inside it?
Tang Ye spotted a strand of yellow light. Reach inside, he scooped it out.
"What is this?"
In Tang Ye’s hand lay a clump of transparent goo, streaked with yellow, covered in disgusting slime. He was bewildered, unable to comprehend what it was, or why it was present in the brain of this big-headed zombie.
"Well, whatever. I’ll put it in the bag and look into it later. Right now, I have to find that bastard and settle the bullet score!"
Nonchalantly, Tang Ye stuffed the jelly-like substance into a pocket in his vest before heading off to find the room where Fu Xinkun and his men had been.
"Damn it!" Upon seeing a horde of zombies ravenously devouring corpses on the ground, Tang Ye couldn’t help but frown.
"Move along!" Tang Ye kicked a zombie out of the way and snatched a gun from the clenched hand of a corpse. As he looked at the shiny rifle, which was giving off a strong smell of gun oil, a sense of novelty flickered across his eyes.
Before the Apocalypse, Tang Ye, an ordinary citizen, had seen guns only on television. Every guy was fond of guns in a way, but most people never got to touch a real one in their entire lives.
Excitedly, Tang Ye touched the gun’s body. The gun’s metallic body emitted a sharp chill that stirred up the blood in Tang Ye’s veins. He was tempted to grab a zombie and rush straight into the battlefield!
"Clear off! You’re stepping on my precious items! Get lost!"
Roar! Roar! Roar...
Spreading his arms, Tang Ye pushed the cluster of zombies out of his way, revealing the bloody corpses at the center.
Seven rifles in all, three Type 95 rifles, and four 81-style automatic rifles. Tang Ye tucked them all away. The joy welling up in his heart was akin to winning the rare honor crystals in the "King of Glory" game without paying a dime!
He clutched the seven guns tightly, as if he was holding seven beautiful women!
