Chapter 1069: Chapter 1065: The Bizarre Mutant
"Get out of my way."
In the streets crowded with mutated creatures, Tang Ye kicked away a mutant that came too close to his face, his expression full of disgust.
The density of these mutants was overwhelming, and as Tang Ye looked at the clusters crowding the street, he wondered if the Chenkun District really had this many people?
Moreover, the street was wrapped in a thick layer of red membrane, and there were red lines with a muscular fiber texture connecting the buildings. Tang Ye examined them closely, realizing they seemed to be some kind of spores. Touching them seemed harmless, but he didn’t know what would happen if a human came into contact.
As he moved through the street crowded with mutants, his clothing became sporadically stained with the disgusting pus and blood of the creatures. At first, Tang Ye would clean off the sticky fluids, but as time passed, he grew tired of doing so. These substances couldn’t assimilate his zombie body nor harm him. As more of it clung to him, his clothes became layered with a thick goo, making him slippery all over, like a mudfish.
But these substances no longer disgusted Tang Ye; after all, when lice abound, a few more will not itch.
"Move, move, get out of my way," he chanted.
Shoving the mutants in front of him, under Tang Ye’s force, these creatures fell one by one. Their bodies were as fragile as tofu dregs; a mere touch from the outside world would crumble them into pieces, spreading their rotten flesh everywhere, only adding to the discomfort.
However, what was terrifying was that these creatures didn’t die. Despite being reduced to debris, the fragments of rotten flesh scattered around would move on their own and merge with other pieces of meat to form another mutant entity. Thus, the street appeared as masses of writhing meat mud.
It was hard to imagine that this meat mud used to be a part of different people’s bodies.
"So annoying."
Looking at the rotten meat mud sticking to his hands, Tang Ye wanted to spit in disgust, but changes in his bodily functions since becoming a zombie prevented him from spitting naturally. He had to suppress the irritation building inside and kept pushing through the piles of flesh.
"How did it even start?"
Up to now, Tang Ye was still puzzled about how these monsters had appeared. They seemed to have suddenly burst into the population during this catastrophe.
While he was surrounded by these creatures, there were no other zombies in his immediate vicinity, which suggested a significant difference between these monsters and zombies. This aligned with Xu Haishui’s words — these were not zombies.
But if they weren’t zombies, then what were they? The advent of the apocalypse was caused by anti-life matter that transformed people into mindless, unintelligent monsters. Both Tang Ye and others knew that all the bizarre occurrences during the apocalypse were due to anti-life matter. With anti-life matter, the world once dominated by humans was now filled with unexplainable events.
All because of the anti-life matter!
It was the anti-life matter that caused the rise of zombies and those non-human strong beings seen only on TV shows. Without the anti-life matter, humans wouldn’t have such tremendous power.
Every life-form changed by the anti-life matter, whether it evolved or devolved, became either a new type of human or a zombie. But if these creatures were not zombies, then how did they appear?
Is it possible for those monsters to exist without the anti-life matter?
That would be too strange.
Sweeping his gaze around, Tang Ye noticed a malformed creature whose outer skin was relatively intact and smiled.
"Let’s test on you." he murmured, then walked towards the creature.
Arriving in front of it, one of Tang Ye’s hands began to soften, his flesh twisted, and soon it transformed into a tentacle. With a stretch of his arm, the tentacle rose and directly wrapped around the creature, lifting it up.
"What would happen if I assimilated you?" Tang Ye said to it, curiosity in his eyes, but the next second, his expression suddenly became vacant, the tentacle loosened, releasing the creature, and then he silently turned around.
"What are you?"
Tang Ye said, and behind him, there stood another malformed creature, its flesh inside-out, unseeable, with heaps of rotten flesh accumulating at its feet. As it moved, the flesh churned, propelling its muddy body forward, and it stood behind Tang Ye, silently watching him.
As Tang Ye turned to look at it, the flesh on the creature’s body twisted, and dozens of eyes burst out from within, their pupils shifting, observing Tang Ye.
Although Tang Ye couldn’t see anything specific, he immediately sensed something off about this creature. Seeing that it didn’t respond to his words, Tang Ye asked again, "Who are you?"
It still didn’t react, but the muddy flesh on its body continued to violently churn as if it were preparing something. After a few seconds, Tang Ye’s feet left the ground and he flew into the air. From behind the monster, four or five tentacles suddenly appeared, swiping at the sky, then heavily smashed on the spot where Tang Ye had been standing, causing the cement and rocks to burst apart!
"You’re courting death!"
A voice full of killing intent came from mid-air, and then his other hand also turned into a tentacle, whipping with two tentacles fiercely at the monster!
Carrying the most ferocious power of a Level 7 zombie, he struck the target squarely. However, this creature seemed different from the other malformed ones; its body, made of rotten flesh, was surprisingly resilient. The explosive power of the Level 7 zombie pressed it into a U-shape, but in the end, it couldn’t withstand this terrifying blow, and its flesh burst open, scattering everywhere!
The flesh, carrying the residual power of the Level 7 zombie, caused the surrounding malformed creatures to be knocked about. However, Tang Ye’s gaze was sharp, and as the flesh from the strange creature flew out and collided with other creatures, it fused with them. The next second, dozens of tentacles stretched out from both sides, all slashing toward Tang Ye!
"Attacking me?"
With a cold snort, Tang Ye rolled down from mid-air, and the tentacles from both sides collided and entangled with each other.
Bang!
Falling from mid-air onto the ground, immense force made Tang Ye directly stomp a huge pit in the ground. The tentacles that had attacked him quickly recoiled, swinging around, and the creature’s body sprouted thick, dense teeth while black, yellow pus flung into the air, smashing heavily down towards Tang Ye!
Before it could hit, a flash of black light appeared, directly blasting the tentacles on one side into complete disarray!
As another tentacle was about to fall on Tang Ye’s head, he grabbed it!
"Come here!"
With a roar, the muscles on Tang Ye’s body bulged, suddenly forcing his clothes apart and revealing his body, as muscular and rugged as a wild bear!
