Chapter 62: Dawn of New Abilities

The first rays of sunlight pierced through the curtains, softly illuminating the room.

Adam stirred awake, the faint hum of a distant bird song filling the air.

His eyes groggily fluttered open, landing on the silent phone lying on the nightstand.

A twinge of disappointment coursed through him—there was no message from Pratham, nor had his avatar made an appearance.

"Still nothing," he muttered, ruffling his hair as flashes of the previous night’s events surged into his mind.

He remembered sending Pratham and Mikasa into the dimensional plane to expand their species.

The thought of his creations hard at work filled him with both pride and an odd sense of loneliness.

"I’ve gotten used to having them around," Adam admitted to himself. "It feels strange not seeing their chaotic antics every morning."

Rising from his bed, he prepared for the day ahead.

By the time he stepped back into the room, he saw Sona stretching lazily on her bed, her small frame twisting like a cat waking from slumber.

"Good morning, Sunshine," Adam greeted her with a warm smile.

Sona blinked at him, still half-asleep. "When did I fall asleep last night?" she asked groggily.

"You nodded off pretty early," Adam replied, sitting on the edge of his bed. "I didn’t have the heart to wake you."

Sona yawned and gave a sleepy shrug. "So, what’s the plan for today?"

Adam paused. His thoughts drifted to the skill he had borrowed from her last night. A spark of inspiration struck. The time limit must be over by now...

Without hesitation, he closed his eyes and murmured, "Connection."

The familiar purple window materialized in front of him, glowing softly. It displayed the three familiar options:

_____________________________

• Pratham’s Skills

• Mikasa’s Skills

• Sona’s Skills

Adam mentally selected Sona’s name. A new window appeared, listing three of her abilities:

_____________________________

1. Teleportation

2. Telepathy and Mind Reading

3. Nightmare or Hallucination

He barely had time to process the possibilities before Sona’s voice broke his concentration.

"Lord Adam, you’ve been ignoring me for a while now," she teased, pouting dramatically.

Peering through the translucent interface, Adam saw Sona fidgeting with her hair, looking a mix of shy and playful.

"I’m just doing something important," he assured her, suppressing a chuckle.

Sona’s cheeks flushed as she averted her gaze. "Don’t stare at me too much... It makes me nervous."

Adam laughed lightly before returning his focus to the screen. His mind raced as he considered which skill to choose. I could have all of them eventually. But which one now?

After a moment of deliberation, he decided. Adam selected Nightmare or Hallucination, and a sharp wave of energy coursed through him.

The sensation was unlike anything he had experienced before.

Heat radiated from his body, intensifying with each passing second.

Beads of sweat trickled down his forehead, quickly evaporating into mist as the transformation progressed.

Sona watched the scene unfold with wide eyes, her voice tinged with concern. "Lord Adam, what’s happening to you?"

Adam ignored her question, closing his eyes to endure the process.

His muscles tensed as his body adapted to the new skill.

The heat subsided after a few moments, leaving behind a faint sense of empowerment.

When Adam opened his eyes, the transformation was complete.

A notification window appeared before him, congratulating him on learning the new ability:

___________________________________

> Congratulations! You have learned the skill "Nightmare or Hallucination" from your creation, Sona.

___________________________________

The description beneath intrigued him:

___________________________________

This skill allows the user to trap a target in their most horrifying nightmare.

During its activation, the target is disconnected from reality and lost in their own fears.

Adam recalled how Sona had once used this ability to scare away thugs by projecting their worst fears.

A grin spread across his face. "Now I see how you managed to do that, Sona."

The notification faded, and Adam turned to Sona, who was still watching him intently.

"You ready for the day?" he asked.

"Ready for what?" she asked, tilting her head in confusion.

"Morning exercise," Adam replied. "With Pratham away, you’ll have to fill in for him."

Sona stood straight and saluted him playfully. "Don’t worry, Lord Adam. I’ll make sure you have the best workout ever!"

Adam laughed, grabbing his gear as they left the house together.

The streets were quiet, the usual morning bustle absent due to it being Sunday.

Adam and Sona made their way to the park, where the crisp air carried the faint scent of dew-covered grass.

Adam began his routine with push-ups, sit-ups, and sprints, all under Sona’s watchful eye.

She hovered nearby, occasionally offering tips or mimicking Pratham’s exaggerated encouragement.

"Come on, Lord Adam! Is that all you’ve got?" she teased, placing her tiny hands on her hips.

Adam smirked, pushing himself harder. By the time they returned home an hour later, he was drenched in sweat but satisfied with his efforts.

"That was a good workout," he said, catching his breath.

From the kitchen, his mother, Rachel, called out, "Adam, breakfast is ready!"

He nodded, heading to the kitchen where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and toasted bread greeted him.

After a hearty breakfast, Adam thanked his mother and returned to his room.

Adam settled into his chair, booting up his PC to play a game. The familiar hum of the PC starting up was soothing.

Just as he was about to dive into his gaming world, his phone buzzed.

"Pratham?" he called out reflexively, then sighed as he remembered. "Right, he’s in the dimensional plane..."

The thought of his absence brought a pang of longing. "I miss those two idiots already."

Turning to Sona, who was sprawled on the bed reading a manga, Adam said, "Sona, can you grab my phone?"

Without looking up, Sona waved her hand lazily. The phone floated across the room, landing gently in Adam’s hand. He glanced at the screen and froze.

Incoming call: Sakura.

Adam stared at the name, surprised. Sakura, the student council president, rarely called him, let alone for something casual.

He answered hesitantly, "Hello?"

A sweet, familiar voice responded, "Adam? Is that you?"

"Uh, yeah. It’s me," he replied, confused.

"Are you free right now?" Sakura asked, her tone surprisingly warm.

Adam’s mind raced. Why is she calling me? And why is she asking if I’m free?

The Chapter ended on this intriguing note, leaving Adam to wonder what awaited him next.
