Chapter 54: A New Discovery

The bell rang, signaling the end of the day’s classes. Students began packing their belongings and heading towards their respective clubs.

The classroom buzzed with chatter, but Adam remained seated at his desk, his thoughts tangled in the earlier confrontation with Robin.

His focus was distant, eyes fixed on his textbook but not truly reading it.

Seated at the front, Ani stole glances at Adam, her brows furrowed with concern.

She could sense the tension lingering around him, but Adam avoided her gaze, lost in his internal struggle.

Finally, he stood, quietly zipping up his backpack, his movements slow and deliberate.

His friends, noticing his mood, exchanged a few worried looks.

Despite their urge to say something, they refrained, understanding that Adam needed some space.

One by one, they left for their clubs, leaving the room eerily quiet except for the faint rustling of papers.

As the silence deepened, Ani stood from her desk. She walked up to Adam, her soft footsteps breaking the stillness.

Her figure was poised, her uniform neatly pressed, and her white hair tied into a loose ponytail swayed with her steps.

Her striking blue eyes, now filled with worry, fixed on Adam.

"You don’t seem okay today," Ani said gently, her voice tinged with warmth and concern.

Adam managed a faint smile, trying to mask the storm within. "It’s nothing, Ani. I’ll head home alone today."

She frowned but didn’t press further. "Alright. But don’t overthink things. It’ll work out."

Adam nodded, slinging his backpack over his shoulder. With a quiet "thanks," he left the classroom, leaving Ani standing alone.

As Adam walked through the corridor, the echoes of his footsteps bouncing off the walls, Sona, perched on his shoulder, broke the silence.

Her miniature form radiated a faint golden glow, her delicate wings fluttering softly. Her voice chimed in his mind, breaking his train of thought.

"Lord Adam," she began, her tone urgent. "I sense a powerful individual nearby. Their energy feels... different, almost like yours."

Adam’s eyes widened in surprise. Could it be? Another one with powers? he thought, his curiosity and apprehension mounting.

"Where are they, Sona?" he asked aloud, keeping his voice low to avoid drawing attention.

Sona closed her eyes, her tiny hands clasped together as she focused.

Her aura flared momentarily, and when she opened her eyes, she spoke with certainty. "The energy is faint, but it’s strongest near the west gate of the school."

Just then, Pratham’s voice echoed through Adam’s mind. "Lord Adam, I’ve spotted three suspicious individuals near the school. Two are by the south gate, and one is west, slightly beyond the perimeter."

Adam immediately turned towards the west gate. "Update their location on my phone," he instructed Pratham. Without waiting, he sprinted down the corridor, his pace quick and determined.

The school gate was abuzz with activity, students milling about as they headed home.

Adam’s focus, however, was unwavering. Pulling out his phone, he checked the map.

A blinking dot indicated the presence of the individual just beyond the west gate, near a small convenience store.

"Let’s see who this is," Adam muttered under his breath, his heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and caution.

Sona hovered close to his ear, her wings a blur of motion. "Lord Adam, I can confirm it’s someone with energy similar to yours. It’s faint, though—much weaker than yours."

Adam crossed the road and slowed his pace as he neared the store.

From a distance, he spotted her—a teenage girl, no older than sixteen, with twin ponytails framing her youthful face.

She wore a casual school uniform, and her small frame gave her an almost unassuming appearance.

Yet, there was an air of intrigue around her.

She was speaking with the shop owner, her expression serious.

Adam watched as the man handed her some cash, which she quickly slipped into her backpack.

His sharp eyes caught the subtle movements of her fingers—quick, calculated. She turned, seemingly unaware of Adam’s presence, and began walking away.

"Sona, what can you sense?" Adam asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Sona flitted closer, her tiny form glowing faintly. "Her energy feels diluted, Lord Adam. It’s similar to yours but far less potent. It’s as if she hasn’t fully discovered her abilities yet."

Adam’s brows furrowed. A new power-holder? But why does her energy feel so weak?

He tapped into Pratham’s link. "Keep tracking her movements. She’s heading into a crowd now. We’ll approach when she’s alone."

"As you command, Lord Adam," Pratham replied, his tone unwavering.

Adam kept his distance, walking through the crowd on the opposite side of the road.

The girl walked at a steady pace, her movements calm but purposeful.

She crossed a small park where children played, their laughter echoing in the crisp afternoon air.

Trees lined the path, their leaves casting dappled shadows on the ground.

Sona, flying just ahead, kept her eyes on the girl. She occasionally glanced back at Adam, her voice chiming in his mind. "Her energy remains faint"

Adam nodded silently, his sharp gaze fixed on the girl.

She stopped briefly by a large tree, adjusting her backpack.

Nearby, a cyclist passed, and a couple walked hand in hand. Adam stayed hidden, his movements precise, ensuring he didn’t draw attention.

The girl finally began moving again, heading towards a quieter street. Adam quickened his pace, his mind set on uncovering the truth.

That girl walks ahead and that same Sona is flying above her and keeping an eye on her.

Then the girl saw a park ahead where most of the people were not going because it was rush hour and everyone was at work.

In the evening at this time the park would be very crowded but right now the park would be completely empty.

Sona says in Adam’s mind "lord adam, I think she is going to the park you please hurry up".

Hearing this, Adam, who is on the opposite side of the road, also starts following the girl quickly and looks for an opportunity to cross the road as soon as the light turns green.
