Chapter 275: On the Way to School

Chapter: On the Way to School

---

The morning sunlight painted the streets in warm hues as Adam and Leo walked side by side.

The crisp air carried a gentle chill, a refreshing contrast to the recent chaos that had defined their lives.

For a moment, the world felt normal. Their conversation was light, punctuated by laughter that echoed softly through the quiet neighborhood.

As they turned a corner, Adam’s eyes caught a familiar figure standing beneath a tree, her silhouette framed by the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves.

It was Susan, Leo’s girlfriend, waiting patiently for them. Her bright smile greeted them as they approached.

"Susan," Adam called out warmly, his tone light. "It’s good to see you again. How are you feeling now?"

Susan stepped forward, her smile widening. "Much better, Adam. Thank you for everything," she replied, her voice filled with genuine gratitude.

The trio began walking together, their footsteps falling into an easy rhythm. The camaraderie between them was evident as they chatted about everything and nothing at all.

As they neared the school, Susan glanced at Adam, her expression thoughtful.

"Are you excited about going back to school after all this time?" she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.

Adam chuckled softly, nodding. "Very excited," he said honestly. "What about you two?"

Leo and Susan exchanged a glance, their expressions momentarily clouded with unease.

Adam, quick to notice, let out a deep breath and offered a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry," he said gently. "Christina is safe. She’s shielded, and nothing has happened to her."

Adam knows what worries both of them are having. He also knows that both of them will not ask him directly, that is why he himself took the initiative to tell them both, Adam sympathizes with them both and tells them he won’t let anything happen to Christina since she is his creation and as much as Susan is worried,

Susan’s shoulders relaxed at Adam’s words, her relief evident.

Leo also exhaled audibly, as though releasing a burden he had been carrying. It was clear they had been worried about bringing up the topic, but Adam’s proactive reassurance had eased their minds.

"I’m sorry, Adam," Susan began, her voice quiet, laced with guilt. "This all happened because of me—"

Adam raised a hand, cutting her off gently but firmly. "Stop," he said, his tone calm yet commanding. "I told you before, and I’ll tell you again—this wasn’t your fault. Blaming yourself won’t help anyone."

Adam knows how guilty Susan is about Christina getting caught, but he doesn’t want to put the blame on Susan because Adam has a hand in all this.

His gaze softened as he continued, "And don’t worry. After school, I’ll give you another Sun Spirit. It’ll protect you, just like before."

Susan’s eyes widened in surprise, gratitude flooding her expression. "Thank you," she said softly, her voice trembling slightly.

Leo grinned, placing a hand on Susan’s shoulder. "See? That’s why Adam’s my best friend," he said, his tone light but sincere. Turning to Adam, he added with a chuckle, "If I had your powers, I’d do the same thing."

Adam smiled modestly, shaking his head. "Alright, enough of that. Now, can you two leave me alone?" he said, his voice carrying a playful edge.

Leo and Susan exchanged surprised glances before Leo’s face broke into a mischievous grin. "Wait a minute... why do you want us to leave?" he teased, his tone exaggeratedly innocent.

After listening to Leo, Adam stares at him and tries to tell him something with his eyes, but instead of looking into his eyes, leo starts laughing.

Adam sighed, knowing exactly where this was going. "Don’t make me spell it out," he muttered, though the faint smile tugging at his lips betrayed his amusement.

Leo leaned toward Susan, feigning a conspiratorial whisper. "I think I know why," he said with a wink. "What about you, Susan?"

Susan pretended to ponder for a moment before her face lit up with realization. "Oh!" she exclaimed, her tone teasing. "You’re waiting for Ani, aren’t you?"

Adam didn’t respond, but the slight flush on his cheeks and his averted gaze were answer enough. His reaction sent Leo and Susan into fits of laughter.

Leo clapped Adam on the shoulder, his grin widening. "Hey, no need to be shy about it. We get it," he said, his tone lighthearted.

Adam groaned, running a hand through his hair. "Go ahead, laugh it up," he muttered. "But just so you know, you two were doing this long before I ever did."

Their laughter only grew louder at Adam’s retort. Susan managed to catch her breath long enough to say, "Don’t worry, Adam. We’ll leave you alone so you can wait for Ani in peace."

Still chuckling, Leo turned to Susan. "Come on. If we stick around, he might actually run away just to get rid of us," he joked.

Susan nodded, her smile soft as she glanced at Adam. "See you later, Adam. Have a good day."

Adam finally takes a deep breath and is now completely alone.

Adam waved them off, watching as they disappeared around the corner. He let out a deep sigh, a mix of exasperation and amusement. "Finally," he muttered under his breath. "Now I can wait for Ani without them teasing me."

Leaning against a nearby lamppost, Adam allowed himself a moment of quiet reflection. Despite the teasing, he felt a sense of peace. His mind briefly wandered to the challenges that lay ahead, but for now, he focused on the present.

The morning sun continued to rise, casting its golden light across the street. Adam glanced down the road, his heart steady with anticipation as he waited for Ani.

The Chapter ends with Adam standing on the quiet street, his thoughts a mixture of excitement and nervousness as he looks forward to seeing Ani. The sound of distant footsteps echoes faintly, signaling her approach. A rare smile graces Adam’s face, the weight of the world momentarily forgotten in the simple joy of a reunion.
