Chapter: The Next Move

---

Sona and Tayo sit together in Adam’s dimly lit room, a table before them cluttered with the spoils of their recent heist—a pile of cash totaling $150,000 and three gleaming gold bars.

The faint hum of Adam’s monitors and the occasional rustle of papers fill the air.

Sona and Tayo know that this money is not enough, they need more money to build their organization because most of the money will be needed to make Pratham and Mikasa’s robots.

Pratham and Mikasa need a lot of money to make their robots because their small equipment costs a lot of money to make which is only half of the cost of the whole organisation.

Sona leans back in her floating position, her fiery wings glowing faintly. She sighs heavily, brushing her blue hair aside. "$150K? This isn’t even close to enough to sustain the Union. Does anyone have any better ideas?"

Tayo, hovering next to her, folds her arms, her golden aura flickering. "You’re right, Sona. This is a decent start, but it’s far from sufficient. I wish I had a brilliant idea, but I’m drawing a blank."

Before the conversation continues, Mikasa’s voice resonates through their telepathic link. Her tone is calm, deliberate. "Perhaps I can help. I may have an idea worth considering. Would you like to hear it?"

Sona’s wings flutter with excitement as she sits up straight. "Of course, Mikasa! You’re always full of great ideas. Please, share it with us."

Tayo nods in agreement, her gaze fixed on the room’s central monitor. "Sona’s right. You’re the best at this sort of thing. Let’s hear it."

Mikasa’s voice sharpens with focus. "When I was operating in my internet dimensional plane and away from here, I tracked a significant event: the vampire epidemic that swept across the city of Floria."

Sona’s expression darkens at the memory. "I remember that. We fought off dozens of those creatures. What a mess."

Tayo chimes in, her voice tinged with pride. "Yeah, Lord Adam created me specifically to combat those threats. That was my first real battle."

Mikasa continues, undeterred. "During that chaos, a group of criminals took advantage of the city’s disarray. They looted one of Floria’s largest banks. That robbery happened not long ago, perhaps just a few days before your recent mission. I’ve been piecing together the details."

Sona tilts her head, her curiosity piqued. "Are you saying that stolen money could still be in Floria?"

"Possibly," Mikasa replies. "Given the heightened military presence during the epidemic, it’s likely the criminals couldn’t escape the city with all the cash. From what I’ve gathered, they’re still hiding nearby."

Tayo frowns slightly, her wings dimming. "Do you know where they might be? Any leads on their location?"

Mikasa hesitates briefly. "No precise coordinates yet, I’m afraid. I only know the robbery occurred in Floria, and the suspects are likely still in the vicinity."

Sona’s fiery demeanor reasserts itself. "That’s enough for me! I have a knack for finding things, especially when they don’t want to be found. Don’t worry, Mikasa—I’ll handle this."

The scene shifts to a quiet street in a less populated part of the city.

A two-story building, designed in the traditional Japanese architectural style, stands as a relic amidst modern surroundings.

The wooden structure has sliding windows with latticework and a sloped tiled roof, showing signs of wear from years of neglect.

Ninja stands before the building, his four arms folded in a combination of calm and authority. His invisible form makes him undetectable to the occasional pedestrians passing by.

His sharp eyes scan the area, taking in the modest shops and sparse foot traffic.

"This seems perfect," he mutters to himself, his voice low and deliberate. "Quiet, unassuming, and with enough space to serve as a proper base for the Union."

He approaches the wooden gate, the faint creak of his movements blending with the distant murmur of the street.

Placing one hand on the gate, he stops, realizing the risk of alerting onlookers if the gate were to open mysteriously.

Stepping back, he evaluates the situation. "Strange," he muses, his tone thoughtful. "No signs of human presence. This place has been abandoned for quite some time."

Deciding on a stealthier approach, Ninja crouches slightly, his powerful legs propelling him upward.

Using his left hands to grasp the windowsill of the second floor, he teleports inside with a faint shimmer.

Inside, Ninja finds himself in a sunlight lit room, the wooden floorboards creaking softly under his weight.

The room is furnished with traditional Japanese décor—low tables, tatami mats, and faded wall scrolls.

Dust particles dance in the faint shafts of light filtering through the shutters.

He walks through the room, his steps deliberate. The faint scent of old wood and musty air fills his senses. "This place... it has potential."

Moving to the first floor, Ninja discovers an empty shop space.

Shelves line the walls, and an old wooden counter sits at the far end. He runs his hand over the surface, noting the fine layer of dust. "It seems the previous owners left in a hurry."

At the back of the building, Ninja finds a small kitchen with a stone hearth and an adjoining storage area.

He nods approvingly, envisioning how the space could be repurposed.

Descending further into the basement, he discovers a spacious underground area with sturdy walls and ample room for equipment.

The cool, dry air suggests it would be ideal for storing sensitive materials.

Ninja returns to the ground floor, his four arms resting at his sides. He takes a final look around, his keen senses ensuring no detail escapes him.

"This will do nicely," he declares, his tone resolute. "A base worthy of the Union’s future plans."

As he steps back outside, the sun begins to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the street. Ninja takes a moment to absorb the quiet surroundings before disappearing in a flash, ready to report his findings to Adam.
