Chapter: A New Ally or Trouble?
---
The Chapter begins with Adam answering the phone, confusion etched on his face as a young girl’s voice greets him cheerfully.
"Hello, Adam-senpai! I’ve been waiting so long to talk to you."
As far as Adam remembers, he had not given his number to anyone, then who is calling him, Adam is thinking about all this.
Adam furrows his brows, puzzled, and asks, "Who’s speaking?"
The voice chuckles softly. "It’s me, Lisa. Remember? The girl you met near the park a long time ago? The one with powers?"
Hearing her name, Adam’s memory sharpens. He recalls the encounter with Lisa near her school alongside Pratham and Sona. A small smile forms on his lips.
"Ah, Lisa. I thought you’d call sooner. It’s been quite a while."
Adam cannot believe that Lisa called him. He thought that she would not call him because he had given a lot of fear to Lisa that day.
Lisa’s voice lights up with joy. "I’m so happy you remember me, Adam-senpai! I thought you might’ve forgotten."
Adam’s grin widens, although he feels a twinge of guilt for not thinking about her much until now. "Of course, I remember. You’ve called at just the right time."
This statement surprises Lisa. "Why do you say that, senpai?"
Adam leans back, his tone serious yet calm. "Do you know about the Fairy Tayo?"
Lisa’s tone becomes excited. "Who doesn’t? She is heroes! They’ve saved so many people from vampires and other dangers. They’re role models for all power holders."
Adam chuckles. "Well, those Fairy Tayo are none other than my companions. She work with me."
Lisa gasps in astonishment. "No way! I had a feeling she were connected to you somehow. That’s amazing!"
Lisa always felt that whenever she saw Tayo on TV, she used to think about Adam at that time, she did not know why seeing Tayo reminded her of Adam.
Adam’s tone softens. "That’s why I’m glad you called. Now, I can protect you from the government."
Lisa exhales deeply, feeling a wave of relief. Before making the call, she had been worried about Adam’s reaction. But now, she felt reassured.
"Thank you, Adam-senpai. I was so scared you’d be mad or refuse to help me. But you’re exactly as I remember—kind and dependable."
Adam smiles faintly. "Don’t worry. When the time comes, I’ll send Tayo to bring you to safety. You’ll be fine."
Lisa’s happiness is evident in her voice. "Thank you so much, senpai. I trust you completely."
Suddenly, Lisa’s voice turns slightly hesitant but excited. "Senpai, there’s something else I need to tell you."
Adam tilts his head, intrigued. "What is it? Are you in trouble?"
Due to this action of Lisa, Adam realises that she has definitely done something wrong.
Lisa laughs nervously. "No, no, nothing like that. It’s just... remember how you told me not to reveal my powers to anyone? Well... I kind of broke that rule."
Adam’s tone sharpens. "What do you mean? Explain yourself, Lisa."
Lisa quickly clarifies. "I didn’t mean to, senpai! I found another girl—someone like us. She has powers, but she didn’t know how dangerous it is to use them openly. So, I told her about my powers to help her."
Adam lets out a frustrated sigh, already piecing together what happened. "And I bet you told her everything about us, didn’t you?"
Lisa falls silent for a moment before admitting, "Yes... but only because I wanted to help her like you helped me."
Adam takes a deep breath and speaks calmly. "Lisa, I’m not angry with you. In fact, I’m proud that you thought of helping someone else."
Lisa’s heart swells with relief and happiness. She had expected Adam to scold her, but his words felt like an elder sibling’s encouragement. "Thank you, senpai. That means a lot to me."
Adam interrupts her train of thought. "Where is this girl now?"
Lisa hesitates. "She was from another city, but she ran away and came here. I couldn’t let her stay on the streets, so... I brought her to my house."
Adam’s eyes widen in disbelief. "Lisa, do you even realize what you’ve done? Your home isn’t exactly the safest place. What if the government tracks her down?"
Lisa’s voice is firm yet slightly defensive. "I couldn’t leave her out there. She needed help. And besides, I’ve been practicing the exercises you taught me. I have much better control over my powers now. I can even maintain multiple transformations for longer periods."
Adam already has a lot of tensions and now a new tension has come, Adam feels that this problem will never go away from his life.
Adam feels a mix of pride and concern. He knows Lisa’s heart is in the right place, but her actions could attract unwanted attention.
"Lisa, listen to me carefully," Adam says with a grave tone. "I know you mean well, and I admire your compassion. But this world isn’t as kind as you are. The harsh truth is that those who are too kind often suffer the most. They’re the first to be taken advantage of or eliminated."
Lisa quickly protests, "But this girl isn’t like that! She’s... she’s one of us. She belongs with us."
Adam sighs deeply, realizing there’s no point arguing further. "Fine. Bring her to the city park. I’ll meet both of you there. Let’s see if she’s truly someone we can trust."
Lisa’s voice brightens. "Really, senpai? Thank you so much! I’ll bring her right away."
Adam nods to himself. "Be quick and discreet. And remember, Lisa, this isn’t just about you or her. Every decision we make affects the Union as a whole."
Lisa acknowledges softly, "I understand, senpai. We’ll be there soon."
As Adam ends the call, he leans back in his chair, his mind racing with thoughts about this mysterious girl. Who was she? Could she be trusted? Or was she a threat waiting to unravel their hard work?
The Chapter ends on this suspenseful note, setting the stage for Adam’s encounter with a potential new ally—or a dangerous adversary.
