Chapter 196: The Discovery

Chapter: The Discovery

The surroundings was dimly lit in a futuristic hue, the only source of illumination being the holographic screens before Pratham and Mikasa.

The two artificial beings, blue-skinned and with eyes that glowed like sapphire, stood in the midst of their virtual dimension.

A continuous hum of data being processed echoed softly around them.

Pratham’s face was calm yet focused as he gestured toward a live feed displayed in the air.

"Mikasa, do you see this? It’s worse than we anticipated. They’re manufacturing these detection devices on a massive scale."

Mikasa, standing tall beside him, folded her arms across her chest. Her expression was thoughtful, yet her glowing eyes betrayed an undertone of urgency.

"This confirms it, Pratham. Their production levels are beyond anything we’ve encountered. If these devices are distributed nationwide, power holders won’t stand a chance."

Both Pratham and Mikasa felt that the government was ready, but they were not sure about this decision of the government. But now seeing this mass production and this laboratory, he can say that the government is fully prepared for the war against the power holders.

Pratham nodded grimly, his fingers moving rapidly to adjust the live feed.

"We need to inform Lord Adam. There’s something particularly concerning about their methods. Look at this."

Mikasa leaned closer, her sharp gaze following the feed that revealed not only the devices but the intricate operations behind them. "This... this could turn the tide against us," she muttered. "It’s time to escalate this matter to Lord Adam."

Now things have gone out of his hands, that is why he wants to tell Lord Adam as soon as possible.

In the human realm, Adam sat in his cluttered yet meticulously organized room. Bookshelves lined one wall, filled with old texts and modern gadgets.

The faint hum of a computer monitor filled the space, its blue glow illuminating his sharp features.

Behind him, Sona and Tayo lay on his bed, their injuries still evident but healing quickly thanks to Tayo’s Gentle Touch.

Adam, dressed in his usual dark attire, leaned forward, scrolling through various documents on his screen.

He was deep in thought, his piercing eyes scanning line after line of information. The weight of recent events hung heavily on him.

Suddenly, his screen flickered. The avatars of Pratham and Mikasa materialized on his monitor, their blue-toned figures standing tall and radiant.

Adam’s brows furrowed slightly. While their sudden appearance didn’t surprise him, it indicated urgency.

"Pratham, Mikasa," he said evenly, his tone betraying curiosity. "You rarely appear this way unless something significant has occurred."

Adam knows that usually Pratham and Mikasa don’t come in front of him like this, if they have come like this then there must be some reason, Adam is not feeling good about the news that both of them have.

Pratham spoke first, his voice steady yet serious. "Lord Adam, there’s something you need to see."

Adam leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "Did you complete the mission?"

Mikasa stepped forward, her glowing eyes meeting Adam’s. "Yes, Lord Adam. But the situation is far more critical than we expected."

Adam’s sharp mind began piecing possibilities together, but he waited, his patience unyielding. He gestured slightly for them to continue.

Pratham and Mikasa raised their hands, activating a new holographic feed on Adam’s screen.

The video showed a glass-walled chamber, sterile and hauntingly quiet. Inside were six beds, three of which were occupied by individuals Adam immediately recognized.

Adam’s jaw tightened as his gaze locked on the motionless figures of Hang, Zora, and Gus. Their once-proud forms now seemed lifeless, hooked up to various machines.

"What is this?" Adam demanded, his voice low but filled with controlled anger.

Pratham explained, "This is a live feed from the government’s hideout. It’s as we feared. They’ve captured Hang, Zora, and Gus. But Lord Adam... that’s not all."

Adam’s fists clenched, his mind racing. Memories of his last encounter with the trio resurfaced—their intense battle outside the mall, their strategic brilliance. How had they ended up here?

His eyes shifted to the other three beds. The pale, predatory features of the occupants were unmistakable. "Vampires," Adam muttered.

The realization struck him. He recalled Atlas’s confession about handing over three vampires to the government. A cold fury settled in his chest.

"So, when they couldn’t find power holders, they turned to vampires," Adam said bitterly.

Pratham and Mikasa remained silent, awaiting his next instructions.

Adam’s focus shifted as Pratham opened another feed, revealing rows upon rows of wooden crates.

Inside each crate were neatly stacked detection devices, their compact, ominous design hinting at their purpose.

Adam’s sharp eyes scanned the feed, his mind calculating. "How many of these devices have been distributed?" he asked.

"None so far, Lord Adam," Pratham replied. "Everything remains within the hideout."

Adam leaned forward, his tone decisive. "Then we still have time. If we act quickly, we can intercept these devices before they become a widespread threat."

Pratham hesitated, his usually confident demeanor faltering slightly. "Lord Adam, we can retrieve the devices. I have small, animal-like robots that can carry them out without being detected."

Adam’s expression lightened briefly at the prospect. "Good," he said. "But what’s the problem?"

Pratham’s hesitation deepened. "Ranger Logan," he said grimly. "His presence in the hideout complicates everything. If he detects us, our operation will fail."

Adam leaned back, his fingers steepled as he considered the implications. Logan—a formidable opponent—was no ordinary soldier. His skills and power could singlehandedly derail their mission.

The room fell silent as Adam weighed his options. His sharp mind churned through strategies, each one faltering under the weight of Logan’s threat.

Finally, Adam spoke, his voice measured. "If we want those devices, we’ll need to deal with Logan first."

Closing

As the live video feed ended, Adam remained seated, his gaze distant.

The pieces of the puzzle were falling into place, but the stakes had never been higher.

How would he outmaneuver someone as dangerous as Logan while ensuring the survival of power holders everywhere?

The Chapter closes with Adam deep in thought, the weight of his responsibility pressing down on him like never before.
