Chapter 162: The Elders and the Council
Chapter: The Elders and the Council
The crowd was a sea of anticipation, their eyes fixed on Adam, who stood tall and composed in the center of the grand hall.
The light of the massive chandeliers overhead cast an ethereal glow on his black outfit, emphasizing the aura of authority he exuded.
Beside him stood Pratham and Mikasa, the ancestral figures revered by the masses.
The hum of whispers faded as Adam took a deep breath and began to speak, his voice steady and commanding.
"I believe the time has come for you to establish an Elder System," Adam announced. His words echoed in the vast hall, carrying the weight of his authority.
"This system will comprise the descendants of Pratham and Mikasa—initially their children, and later, their grandchildren."
A ripple of murmurs spread through the crowd, their faces lighting up with a mixture of excitement and awe.
For many, this was a moment of hope and progress, a chance to solidify their civilization’s future under a structured leadership.
Yet, amidst the sea of approval, Adam’s keen eyes caught the subtle hesitation on UV-2’s face—a flicker of doubt.
He feels that this is the same system as before in which his elder brother took advantage and snatched away the freedom of all the people and he does not see any difference in this new system.
Adam turned to him, his gaze firm but reassuring. "Do not worry," Adam said, addressing UV-2 directly. "There is another part to this system. While the Elders will hold significant power, the ultimate authority will rest with a Council."
Uv2 gets very surprised after hearing this, he does not understand what this means, he is trying to understand and all the people present there are confused and are looking at each other.
Gasps filled the hall. The sheer boldness of the idea left even Pratham and Mikasa momentarily stunned.
Pratham and Mikasa know what this means because they have seen many such systems in Adam’s world, so they understand what Adam’s line of thoughts.
Adam continued, his tone unwavering. "The members of this Council will not be appointed but chosen through the will of the people—through votes."
UV-2’s lips curled into a thoughtful smile. "This sounds like a stable system," he said, his voice carrying newfound confidence. "If incidents like the one we’ve faced ever occur again, this could be an effective solution."
Adam nodded. "However," he added, raising a hand for emphasis, "the Council will not possess absolute power. It will act as a balance to ensure that the Elder System does not rule unchallenged."
The audience listened with rapt attention, their curiosity evident in their wide eyes and leaning postures. Adam’s words were both revolutionary and pragmatic.
"For now, I believe this system will suffice," Adam said, glancing around at the attentive crowd. "But remember, you can amend it if the need arises, provided all Elders and Council members agree. This way, the system remains dynamic and adaptable."
The room erupted in applause, the sound reverberating through the chamber. Cheers of approval filled the air as the people began to grasp the fairness and foresight of Adam’s proposal.
"This," Adam said, allowing a faint smile to grace his lips, "is similar to a system we once had on Earth. While it wasn’t perfect, it gave the people a voice, a chance to reach those in power."
The applause grew louder, transforming into a standing ovation. "Lord Adam, we will honor your laws as a national treasure!" someone in the crowd exclaimed, their voice carrying the collective sentiment of the room.
---
As the crowd began to settle, Ani approached Adam. Her mischievous smile and teasing tone broke the serious atmosphere. "I never imagined you’d be such a great leader, Adam," she said. "You were always so quiet in class. Who would’ve thought?"
Adam chuckled, a faint blush creeping onto his face. "It’s not as grand as it seems," he replied modestly, scratching the back of his neck.
Pratham and Mikasa stepped forward, their expressions a mix of pride and gratitude. Adam straightened, understanding the silent thanks in their eyes.
Turning back to the crowd, Adam raised his voice once more. "I don’t have much time," he declared. "You must oversee the formation of this system yourselves."
He shifted his gaze to UV-1, who lay on the floor, still battling the pain of his negative title. Despite his condition, UV-1’s eyes burned with determination.
Adam approached him, his voice soft but resolute. "UV-1, I have great expectations for you. You may have faltered before, but I believe that when I return, this civilization will have advanced under your guidance."
UV-1, still wracked with pain, managed a slight nod, his silence speaking volumes.
---
Adam then turned to Yuki, who stood nearby with an earnest expression. "Yuki," he said, his tone warm, "I expect great contributions from you as well. This civilization needs your brilliance."
Yuki’s face lit up with a confident smile. "You can count on me, Lord Adam. I won’t let you down."
Satisfied, Adam looked out at the crowd one last time. He raised his hand in a gesture of farewell. "I will remember all of you. And one day, I will return."
The crowd erupted in cheers, their voices filled with hope and gratitude.
---
Adam turned to Pratham, Mikasa, Ani, and Sona—still unconscious on Ani’s arm. "Are you ready to leave?" he asked.
They nodded in unison. Pratham placed a reassuring hand on Adam’s shoulder, while Mikasa offered a warm smile.
In a single fluid motion, Adam summoned his powers. A brilliant white light engulfed them, swirling like a vortex. The onlookers shielded their eyes as the light intensified. Within moments, Adam, Pratham, Mikasa, Ani, and Sona vanished, leaving behind only the faint echo of their presence.
The hall fell silent as the crowd stared at the spot where their savior had stood moments before. Slowly, they began to turn to one another, their expressions filled with determination and unity.
And so, the Chapter came to an end, with the promise of a new beginning for their civilization.
