Chapter 156: Emergence of True Power
Chapter 156: Emergence of True Power
As the massive explosion subsided, an eerie silence filled the hall. The once-imposing Hall was now a ruined wasteland. Every surface was scorched, every object obliterated.
The metallic walls, sturdy windows, and towering chair—all lay in shambles. A thick, acrid smoke hung in the air, carrying the stench of burned metal and ash.
Beneath the destruction, the faint remnants of human life—scientists in red uniforms and soldiers—were now indistinguishable from the debris, consumed entirely by the blast.
Standing a short distance away from the explosion’s epicenter, Ani remained unharmed, encased in a protective cocoon of shimmering, white tiles.
These tiles had been meticulously take by Adam moments before the blast, shielding her, Pratham, and Mikasa from harm.
Even so, Ani could feel the violent tremors ripple through her enclosure. The pressure was immense, and the cracks forming in the tiles betrayed the sheer force of the explosion.
Inside, Ani clutched her knees, her breathing shallow. Though unharmed, she could sense the devastation surrounding her. She whispered to herself, steadying her nerves, "Adam... where are you?"
The hall outside was in total disarray. Flames flickered across the remains of the once-sterile hall, casting eerie shadows against the walls.
Broken glass crunched under the weight of falling debris, and the few remaining structures groaned ominously as if on the brink of collapse.
---
The moments before the blast replayed in Adam’s mind. He had anticipated an impact but not of this magnitude.
As UV1 initiated his self-destruct, an overwhelming surge of energy radiated from his body.
Adam, thinking quickly, had used his telekinesis to redirect the explosion. With precise control, he funneled the brunt of the energy away from the center tower, forcing it to dissipate through the walls and outward.
Yet, even his immense power couldn’t contain the entire blast. The remaining shockwave rattled the hall, testing the limits of his protective layers.
At the last second, when the strain became too much, Adam teleported himself away from the explosion’s core.
Before leaving, he created multiple additional layers of tiles to reinforce the barriers protecting Ani, Pratham, and Mikasa. His determination was clear: their safety was paramount.
As the smoke began to settle, Adam reappeared in the now-devastated hall. The scene before him was bleak.
His sharp eyes scanned the ruins, taking in the charred remains and the faint embers glowing on the floor. His heart sank momentarily, but his resolve remained unshaken.
His focus shifted to the protective cocoon. Raising his hand, he willed the tiles to part, their jagged edges falling away to reveal Ani crouched inside.
Her wide, fearful eyes met his, but relief quickly replaced her panic. "Ani," Adam called out softly, stepping closer. His voice was steady but carried an undercurrent of exhaustion. "Are you hurt?"
Ani pushed herself up, her hands trembling slightly. She managed a small, relieved smile. "No... I’m fine. Thanks to you."
Adam’s sharp gaze swept over her, ensuring she truly was unharmed. His expression softened briefly, but the moment was fleeting.
Ani noticed the tension in his jaw, the way his shoulders remained rigid. "Is it over?" she asked hesitantly.
Adam exhaled, his voice firm but laced with a grim determination. "Not yet."
---
Ani’s brow furrowed as she glanced around the hall, now reduced to ruins. "What about Pratham and Mikasa?" she asked, concern evident in her tone.
Adam’s gaze shifted to the two figures encased in their protective barriers a few meters away.
The tiles around them glowed faintly, their surfaces cracked but still holding.
In his mind, Adam reflected on his choice: I could have freed them earlier, but I decided to deal with UV1 first. It was the only way to ensure their safety.
He extended his hand toward their shields, inspecting them closely. The barriers shimmered briefly before Adam retracted his hand. Turning back to Ani, he said, "Stay with them. Keep watch. This isn’t over."
Ani hesitated but nodded, understanding the weight of his words. She stepped toward the shields, her eyes lingering on Adam as he walked away. Her voice, barely above a whisper, followed him. "Be careful."
Adam moved with purpose, his boots crunching over the debris-strewn floor. He stopped in the middle of the hall, the remnants of the explosion still crackling faintly in the background. His expression was unreadable, but his presence commanded attention, even in the emptiness.
The devastation surrounding him felt insignificant compared to the storm brewing within. As Adam stood amidst the ruins, a heavy silence settled once more. And in that silence, a sense of anticipation lingered—something unfinished, a challenge yet to be faced.
Adam stood motionless in the center of the devastated hall, his casual outfit smeared with dust and debris.
The air around him was thick with the acrid stench of burnt metal and charred flesh.
Shattered windows let in cold, stale drafts, while the lifeless bodies of soldiers and scientists lay scattered, unrecognizable from the fiery blast that had just subsided.
Adam’s chest heaved as he took a deep breath, his mind processing the scene of utter destruction.
He exhaled sharply, his voice resonating across the desolate hall. "How long do you intend to keep hiding?"
Ani, standing a short distance away, flinched at his sudden outburst. She was still trying to process what had happened moments ago.
Her body trembled slightly, not from fear, but from the overwhelming vibrations of the explosion that had rocked her protective tiles. Who is he talking to? she wondered, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of life. There was no one in sight.
Adam’s voice grew louder, more commanding. "Will you come out willingly, or do I have to drag you out myself?"
The sharpness in his tone was unmistakable. Before Ani could make sense of his words, the silence was interrupted by a low rumble.
The wall to the right began to shift, grinding against hidden mechanisms. Dust and small fragments of concrete fell to the ground as a concealed door slowly slid open, revealing three figures.
Clad in pristine white suits and helmets, they stepped out in unison, their laser guns raised and aimed directly at Adam.
The reflective visors of their helmets gleamed ominously in the dim light. Adam’s eyes narrowed, his lips curling into a faint smirk.
"So, you’ve finally decided to show yourselves," he said, his voice calm yet laced with menace. "I thought I might have to drag you out myself."
The three soldiers stopped a few paces away, maintaining their formation, their weapons steady. Adam took a deliberate step forward, his boots crunching over debris.
"Impressive." Adam remarked, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "UV1?"
The soldiers exchanged uneasy glances, clearly unsettled by his words. One of them, after a brief hesitation, lowered his weapon and stepped forward.
His movements were slow, deliberate, as he slung the gun over his shoulder and reached for his helmet.
With a sharp hiss, the seal of the helmet released, and the man removed it, revealing his face. Adam’s gaze hardened as he recognized the familiar features. The soldier standing before him was none other than UV1 himself.
UV1’s face betrayed a mixture of shock and disbelief. His expression was taut, as though he was grappling with the impossible. "How...?" he began, his voice faltering. "How did you know I was here?"
Adam didn’t respond immediately, his piercing gaze fixed on UV1. The silence was deafening, amplifying the tension. UV1 let out a bitter laugh, tossing the helmet aside.
"I underestimated you," he admitted, his tone dripping with regret. "I thought I could outsmart my creator. How foolish of me to believe you wouldn’t know everything about me—even my hiding spots."
The admission hung heavy in the air, but Adam’s face remained impassive. He took another step closer, his presence exuding an almost suffocating authority.
UV1 raised a hand, as if to gesture or perhaps activate something. But before he could make his move, Adam’s voice cut through the tension.
"I think you’ve overused this power to much," Adam said sharply. "Let me remind you—it’s mine to take."
UV1 froze, his hand trembling in mid-air. "What nonsense are you spouting?" he spat, his voice laced with defiance.
Adam didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he summoned his system in his mind, and a translucent purple window materialized before him, visible only to him. His fingers twitched slightly as he issued a silent command.
"I revoke your title," Adam declared.
The system responded instantaneously. A new window appeared, its text glowing ominously:
___________________________
You have successfully stripped the title ’All-Father’ from the ruler of this dimension. All associated powers have been revoked.
___________________________
UV1’s eyes widened as an invisible force seemed to sap his strength. His heightened senses dulled, and the connection to his powers—once so vivid—vanished.
Panic set in as he looked down at his trembling hands, trying desperately to summon even a fraction of his abilities.
Nothing.
"You... What have you done?!" UV1’s voice cracked with desperation as he stared at Adam.
Adam’s gaze was cold, unyielding. "I gave you that power. I can just as easily take it back."
UV1 clenched his fists, his frustration boiling over. He raised his head, his eyes blazing with fury. "I don’t need your power to destroy you," he hissed. "I have other tricks up my sleeve—ones that will end you."
Adam tilted his head slightly, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Go ahead," he said calmly, spreading his arms in a mock gesture of surrender. "Show me what you’ve got."
---
The Chapter ends with UV1’s trembling form standing defiantly before Adam, his fury evident despite his powerlessness. Adam, unflinching and composed, waits for the next move, his words echoing ominously in the stillness of the hall.
