Chapter 139: Chains of Power
Chapter 139: Chains of Power
UV1 stood motionless, his calculating eyes shifting toward one of his soldiers. With a sharp nod, he summoned the man forward.
The soldier stepped out of line, his boots clicking rhythmically against the cold metal floor. Reaching into his pocket, he retrieved a small, spherical device, its surface a dull shade of brown.
Another soldier soon joined him, mirroring the first’s actions and producing an identical device from his uniform.
Both men moved with robotic precision, their expressions devoid of any emotion as they carried out UV1’s silent command.
Adam watched from the sidelines, his heart pounding against his ribcage. Every muscle in his body screamed for action, But he could not do anything except watching..
His mind raced, desperate to understand UV1’s plan as he observed the soldiers approach Pratham and Mikasa, who lay unconscious on the cold floor.
One soldier stopped next to Pratham. Kneeling, he activated the device in his hand by tapping its small, glowing button.
A faint hum filled the air as the device began to glow with an ominous brown light. The soldier then placed the second device directly beneath Pratham’s limp body.
The reaction was instantaneous. A shimmering brown sphere of energy materialized around Pratham, crackling faintly as it sealed him inside.
The translucent barrier pulsated with an eerie glow, its surface smooth yet unyielding, as if mocking any attempt to break through.
The second soldier mirrored the process with Mikasa. Within moments, she too was encased in an identical energy field, her unconscious form silhouetted against the soft brown hue.
Adam’s fists clenched tightly as he watched the scene unfold. His frustration simmered just beneath the surface, his helplessness an unbearable weight.
He bit the inside of his cheek, forcing himself to stay silent, though every fiber of his being screamed in protest.
UV1’s lips curled into a satisfied smirk as he surveyed the encapsulated forms of Pratham and Mikasa. His eyes glinted with triumph as he turned toward the massive throne-like drone that loomed at the center of the room.
With slow, deliberate steps, UV1 approached the throne. The drone was a towering construct of sleek black metal, its surface etched with intricate patterns that pulsed faintly with blue light.
Adam recognized it instantly—the seat of power once occupied by Pratham and Mikasa, now claimed by their first born.
UV1 ascended the steps to the throne, his movements exuding an air of authority. He lowered himself onto the seat, his body settling into the curved contours of the metallic structure.
The moment he sat down, a series of translucent screens flickered to life in front of him, hovering in midair.
Adam’s breath hitched as he glimpsed the text on the largest screen.
__________________________
Congratulations. You have successfully claimed the throne.
Title granted: ’All-Father.’

Before Adam could fully process the words, a second screen materialized. This one bore a stark warning:
___________________________
Due to the forceful succession, several of your powers have been reduced. Your abilities are as follows:
___________________________
UV1’s smirk faltered, replaced by a furrowed brow as he read the list:
___________________________
1. You can kill any lower-level member of your species at will.
2. You can forcibly alter the willpower of any lower-level member of your species.
3. You can control certain objects you’ve created, but absolute control is denied as a penalty for claiming succession without the Creator’s consent.

UV1’s hands gripped the armrests of the throne tightly, his knuckles turning white. He leaned back, his mind swirling with frustration and resentment.
The title he had so desperately sought now felt like a hollow victory, tainted by limitations he had not anticipated.
A shadow of anger darkened UV1’s expression as he whispered, his voice barely audible, "I hate that Creator."
His tone was cold and venomous, each word dripping with malice. "I know," he continued, his voice growing steadier,
"that one day, he will come here. And when he does..." His lips curled into a chilling smile. "I will show him the same game of death he played with my people."
Adam, standing silently in the corner, absorbed every word. His mind churned with conflicting emotions—sympathy for the pain UV1 clearly carried, anger at the destruction he had caused, and confusion about what to feel.
As UV1’s voice trailed off, the scene around Adam began to blur. His vision swirled, the sharp lines of the room dissolving into a hazy mist.
The cold air, the flickering lights, and even the faint hum of the drones faded into nothingness.
When his vision cleared, Adam found himself back in the chamber of UV2.
The once-pristine room now bore signs of chaos—the shattered remains of a window he had broken earlier, and UV2 himself slumped on the floor.
UV2 knelt with his head bowed, his expression heavy with guilt and sorrow.
Adam stood motionless, his eyes darting between the shattered window and the figure before him. The weight of everything he had seen bore down on him like an invisible chain.
UV2 finally broke the silence, his voice trembling with regret. "Lord Adam," he said, his tone thick with emotion, "this is not your fault. It was our mistake."
Adam’s gaze lingered on UV2, his mind a storm of thoughts he couldn’t untangle. He said nothing, letting the words hang in the air as the Chapter drew to a close.
Adam sat on the edge of the bed, his gaze distant as he stared through the broken window into the bleak, lifeless open sky beyond.
UV2 knelt on the floor, his head still bowed, as Adam broke the heavy silence. "I’ve seen everything now," Adam began, his voice low but steady. "What happened here... the state of this city... it’s far worse than I could’ve imagined."
Hearing this, UV2 nodded slowly, his head dipping further as if carrying the weight of Adam’s words. Adam turned his gaze back to the shattered window, the sharp edges of the glass framing the broken view.
"I don’t know whose fault this is," Adam admitted, his tone tinged with frustration and bitterness. "But if I had to blame someone, it would be me. Yet, I can’t shake the feeling that my presence only makes this conflict worse."
UV2 lifted his head slightly, his eyes meeting Adam’s. There was sorrow in his gaze, but also a spark of determination.
"Lord Adam," he said softly, his voice filled with reverence, "my father always told us you would come. He believed in it with all his heart. He said we must build a paradise for you—a place where you could escape your pain and find peace. But instead..." His voice broke, trembling with regret. "Instead, we gave you nothing but more suffering."
Adam remained silent, his expression unreadable. UV2 continued, his tone growing firmer. "As for who is at fault—this conflict, this chaos—it all stems from my elder brother. I don’t know where he got his ideas or who influenced him, but I can say this much with certainty: none of this is your fault, my lord."
Adam’s brows furrowed as he considered UV2’s words. "I didn’t know Pratham had knowledge of weapons," he said thoughtfully, turning back to face UV2.
At this, UV2 raised his head fully for the first time, his expression one of faint surprise. "Lord Adam," he began cautiously, "my father brought the designs and concepts of weapons to this place. He believed that one day, you might need them—tools that could be created if the situation demanded. But he never anticipated that these designs could be leaked... or worse, used."
UV2 sighed deeply, the sound laden with years of suppressed frustration. "My father hid the weapons concept, ensuring they remained untouched and concealed. He thought they would be safe. But somehow, my brother, UV1, discovered them. Not only did he find them, but he learned from them—mastered them. And that," UV2 said, his tone darkening, "was the beginning of the end."
Adam’s thoughts churned, the pieces of the puzzle falling into place. He turned his gaze back to UV2, his expression sharpening.
"But how are you here?" he asked pointedly. "You’re supposed to be upper member, yet this place... this room... look like prison I’ve ever seen."
UV2 smiled faintly at Adam’s observation. "That’s a long story, my lord," he said cryptically, his voice tinged with both weariness and amusement.
UV2’s gaze dropped to the floor as he began his tale. "When we awoke after the incident, we discovered that my elder brother had seized control of the entire city. His soldiers patrolled every street, enforcing his will."
UV2’s voice grew quieter, tinged with both shame and anger. "He gave us a choice: join him or face imprisonment. Some of my brothers agreed, believing it was the only way to protect the city our father worked so hard to build. They thought they could preserve what little was left by serving UV1."
He paused, his fists clenching against his thighs. "But I... and a few others... refused. We couldn’t betray what we stood for. And for that, we were condemned to this place."
Adam leaned forward, his curiosity piqued. "How long have you been imprisoned here?" he asked, his tone both sympathetic and incredulous.
UV2 smiled faintly, though the gesture didn’t reach his eyes. "There’s no way to measure time here, Lord Adam," he said quietly. "I’ve lost track of the days... the years. All I know is that it’s been long enough to feel like an eternity."
Adam’s chest tightened at UV2’s words. He placed a hand on his knee, leaning closer as he spoke with conviction. "I’m proud of you, UV2," he said firmly. "And Pratham would be, too. All of you. No matter where you come from or what you’ve endured, you’ve held onto your integrity. That’s something worth honoring."
UV2’s eyes welled with tears at Adam’s words. He lowered his head again, his voice breaking as he whispered, "Lord Adam, we’ve waited for you... all of us. Not just me, but our father, too. We believed—no, we knew—you would come for us one day."
Adam rose from the bed, his figure casting a long shadow across the room. His voice was steady, resolute. "You don’t have to wait anymore," he said, his tone filled with quiet determination. "I’m here now. And I promise you—I will make things right."
UV2 looked up at him, his expression a mix of hope and gratitude. For the first time in years, he allowed himself to believe in the possibility of redemption.
The broken window behind Adam let in a faint breeze, the cold air a stark reminder of the challenges ahead. But as UV2 gazed at his lord, he felt a flicker of warmth—a spark of light in the darkness.
And with that promise, the Chapter drew to its close, leaving the weight of what was to come lingering in the air like an unspoken vow.
